Share trading via lse.co.uk

We see lse.co.uk as an ever-evolving animal, a ‘Forth Bridge’ of the Share world if you like. Just look at the recent improvements: - Savings & Investment section, including Savings rates and tax tables. - ‘Quick-picks’ facility where Members can pin shares, i.e. those they currently hold or are researching, to the left-hand side of the page. These are then ever-present as you travel around the site, being able to look at these straight away, rather than re-navigate to them. - Stock picker. This allows share research whereby you can select a number of parameters/settings in finding those you might want to buy or watch. The available criteria include Spread, P/E ratio, Earnings per share, Yield, Dividend, Market capitalisation, Market size, 52-week high and low, etc. - Home page improvements. The addition of an intra-day FTSE100 graph, a point and percentage summary of the intra-day movement of the FTSE100, FTSE250, FTSE Small Cap, and FTSE All-share, and the intra-day Risers/Fallers as a percentage of the market. More improvements I didn’t put a question mark there as I am now pretty confident the first improvement mentioned below will happen. Share dealing service I believe this is the key. What is the most obvious thing missing from lse.co.uk?! We know that our visitors trust us and it makes sense that they would rather not have to dive around from site to site to research, chat, trade, and so on. We visited one of the most well-known dealing firms in the City last week, having passed the Compliance criteria to be able to tie-up and offer a share-dealing (and others i.e. CFDs) service via lse.co.uk. I, for one, will be opening an account! FTSE constituent data The improvements to the home page are only the tip of the iceberg. We have paid a handsome amount of money to obtain data from the FTSE, including the Industry Classification Benchmark (ICB) system. The ICB system helps with the analysis of sectors (i.e. Oil exploration) and industries. There are 65,000+ securities divided into 114 Sub-sectors, 41 Sectors, 19 Super-sectors, and 10 Industries…plenty to play with for those that like information and statistics. This data takes a lot of effort to build into a publishable format, so we will release this as soon as we can. One of our key technical experts was voluntarily working on this last night…a fun Sunday evening! Etcetera, etcetera We have quite a few other improvements in mind, but it is a case of finding time to implement them and, most importantly, ensuring they are carried through properly and with the user experience in mind at all times. Please let us know what improvements you would like to see and if you would trade via lse.co.uk – either by replying to this blog or using the ‘Help & Feedback’ section of the General Chat area. No more emoticons suggestions though, please! Until next time…
