Nice bump in the divi the $ fx rates are helping a tad. The broker is getting quicker at sorting out that divi too, it was taking 10 days or so.
Results beat expectations, keep increasing the divi and reducing the debt and that will keep me happy. Strong dollar should be good for £ payout.
Verizon caps transformational year with strong, balanced 4Q results NEW YORK, Jan. 21, 2016 -- 4Q 2015 highlights Consolidated $1.32 in earnings per share (EPS), compared with a loss of 54 cents per share in 4Q 2014, including impacts in both quarters related to the annual actuarial valuation of benefit plans and mark-to-market pension adjustments. 89 cents in adjusted EPS (non-GAAP), a 25.4 percent increase compared with adjusted EPS of 71 cents in 4Q 2014. Wireless 1.5 million net retail postpaid connections added in the quarter; 112.1 million total retail connections; 106.5 million total retail postpaid connections. 0.96 percent retail postpaid churn, demonstrating continued high customer loyalty. Wireline 6.8 percent Fios revenue growth; 99,000 Fios internet and 20,000 Fios video net additions.
beat expectations and the divi has risen. Comparing with Vod this is still ahead although down overall and currency issues to boot. Add in the divis and things look a bit better even with divi WHT. So it was worth hanging onto these post the sale from Voda afterall. Thought that they would reduce the debt but happy with more divis ...... so far. I hope the bean counters are keeping an eye on the debt but as income is increasing maybe I am worrying to much.
Maybe not good news for VZC but I liked this advert considering its an advert... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QC22ZHo7Iak
I don't think so as they are selling cable and concentrating on wireless and selling old infrastructure in favour of wireless, hence the AOL purchase. Charter will be able to cut costs.
Any implications for VZC (or perhaps Liberty Global) in this deal which sees Charter Coms take over Time Warner Cable in a mixed stock and cash deal worth $79 Billion?
Not too sure what to make of this deal. It aligns with what is expected of this sector but no figures are given on how or what expectations there are on the bottom line, EPS or profit. It could be more of a case of not standing still and not doing the deal would ultimately cost more in the long term.
better than expected!. I thought the T-mobile deals might have hurt them more. Some nice increases in the headline figures but there are some clouds on the horizion. Lets see what they do with the divi and how debt is fairing
Just received my cash and it was higher in £ terms than I originally calculated due to the change in the $. The SP has also rising back after It had actually fallen below Vod for the first time but I suspect its changed back again now. I also note they are trying to do some deals with the debt by extending it and switching some of it back to Verizion
Maybe, but can't find any reason for the price drop. Seems to be good investor news from Verizon, and with increased income stream, will probably top up. It's only money. Good luck!
mono, yes but I am just sat collecting the divis atm. US is not cheap so not tempted to add more plus lots of debt. Thats not to say this will fall and it could rise even more as there are not too many other options right now. So its watch and wait with me to see how this pans out.
anybody else interested in this share
Why the big fall? Buying opportunity although £ V $ not good
You cant but it can be reduced. See http://monevator.com/withholding-tax-on-dividends/
does Ver have a presence outside the USA or North America? Fantastic business and very strong cash flow and balance sheet. US market is very competitive and wonder if they are looking to expand overseas
how do we get this back?
Just received the cash from the dividend. It was announced that it would increase by 2%. In UK £'s after the US withholding tax the increase is over 10% in cash terms. I know the exchange rate is a factor here but its a big change from what I was expecting. Anyone else seeing the same. Probably all swings and roundabouts in the end and the next one might be lower
You got to like an increasing quarterly dividend and the exchange rates are a tad better too.
The Board of Directors of Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE, Nasdaq: VZ) today declared a quarterly dividend of 55 cents per outstanding share, an increase of 2 cents per share, or 3.8 percent, from the previous quarter. On an annual basis, this increases Verizon's dividend by 8 cents per share, from $2.12 to $2.20 per share. The quarterly dividend is payable on Nov. 3, 2014, to Verizon Communications shareowners of record at the close of business on Oct. 10, 2014. This is the eighth consecutive year that Verizon's Board of Directors has approved a quarterly dividend increase.
and another spike down by nearly 40% but the US market is closed. Google Finance, what are you doing?
Just noticed a 40% drop on my spreadsheet. The US market is not open so I suspect its a glitch with google finance or does someone know something I dont
courtier, glad you found it interesting. I suppose if your looking to trade some of your observations are valid. Ref the US, they say we are separated by a common language and having worked with some of our cousins I do find some of them strange, some stupid and others rather clever. I suppose the same can be said of us though. As I am not trading the time difference is not an issue to me and might be better to prevent me dabbling. The tax, once the form has been completed is straightforward with them taking 5% more in tax than the UK. The currency risk will always be there and I suppose you can try and play the system a bit although I haven't. It does offer some diversity from the UK as an offset and I still love the Qtr divi. Enjoy spending your cents, where ever they end up.
I have just sold al my Verizon shares. I liked the dividends and sold at a good profit. However I decided that the Atlantic and the consequent time difference, plus a tax system I did not understand spoilt the fun for me. I still consider Verizon to be a good hold.
Hopefully bigger profits will boost growth and investment, but I take your point and the pound has strengthened.
