Same here robleo. VOD is now my biggest loser and a heavy weight of my portfolio. £40k down!! Jesus Christ!! It will need many years to recoup it from the dividend. Hope that it won't go under before I get all my money back ......lol
sidi Re: thinking of abandoning ship, I would like to, I only have 2 bad shares at the moment, which I think are going to take a long time to recover, and vod is one of them, but I don't see any point in selling up at a loss, while I can recoup some of the losses by accumulating dividend, would like to at least minimise the losses as much as I can, so hoping it does make some gains in the near future, fortunately I have only put 5% of portfolio in here, and knowing the situation the company is in would be very reluctant to invest any more, this is why I'm interested in peoples motives for doing so , but whatever they are, I hope they do well
good luck, we may need it
It does seem that someone is having a second thought. Robleo, are you thinking of abandon ship?
Now Dan, VOD is 48% chance of going belly up!!??!! How am I going to sleep tonight then huh??....
Dan it's just a genuine question mate, and not directed just at you, my point is knowing the company is struggling to compete in a competitive market, also unable to cover the dividend, struggling to manage its debt is it worth the risk investing in this company, when there are possibly safer company's with more possible gains, yes things may get better and hopefully it will, but just how long will it take for this company take to recover ???
Uh? Is that what is all about? Oh ok then, I'll keep my mouth shut.....but you must share the info with me though.......lol
S.I.D.I. Friendly with Mikey? In case you haven't worked it out yet, I am trying to get some inside info, Keep it to yourself though please?
robleo. I get your concern, I could refer to to my post about vod being a gamble, & if you really want me to scare you, I have read that vod has a 48% of going bankrupt . It doesn't mean going bust though, just in trouble with deb't. So why am i so bullish? because if vod can pull this around, (increase profit% more than it's debt) at 1.30 the shares are way undervalued, I think even mole-man would agree with me on that? Vod shares are a high risk gamble. Of course if vod just plods along without reducing it's divi, it may become like a pension annuity, returning 6% until it becomes worthless.
....lol Dan, I don't think we got much left in the bank after all these years of destruction of the SP.....Let alone laughing all way to there and back........ hahahaha
Hey robleo, do you want to be kicked out of the 3 amigos or what? Why sounded so negative hey?
And Dan, since when you are so friendly with Mikey? Are you desperately needed to fill the space I left behind?........lol
I would predict a 127+p opening tomorrow. Then will go up and then down and then up and then down and then close well down more than the divi!!!.........hahahaha
Come on S.I. D.I. What's all this " I know I'm not the intelligent type" Stuff mean? I think you are intelligent, not a lot, but intelligent? Have you got a sense of humour though? Far more important. Come on Amigo's. Let's laugh all the way from the bank, or should that be to the Bank?? Tomorrow may tell? The suspense is killing me!!
One thing I cant understand though guys, you know how much debt vod is in, and paying a dividend they can't cover, yet knowing all this, you still keep adding here, maybe you could explain your motives for this ???, personally having seen this drop from my average of 197p, with little hope of it getting back to 200p anytime soon, I feel caught in a trap here at the moment
Mikey, good luck mate. Bloody yanks eh? Joking of course??
Its already gone Daniel - i am putting the max £375 a month already though at £1.02 - about another 12 months to run on that one.
The sp tomorrow will certainly reflect the divi payment. Whatever it would have been if it wasn't ex divi day, it will be minus the divi. Simple. If you buy for the divi, you lose it straight away & then wait a couple of months to get it back, minus divi tax if you pay it. So don't buy short term for the divi, long term yes, I hope. Mikey, shame about the late fall today, lets just hope tomorrow is good. When is your next share option price set, I guess for you a fall up to the option price set date could be good for future options? I have a friend who worked for B.T. & got share options for about 60p a share many years ago.
given its such a big dividend there is next to no chance the shares dont reflect this on the open especially given the run up into the ex date. the best one can hope for is some reduction throughout the day to the opening discount.
usually_right. "hoping for 119-124ex divi." No thank you. I think that would send out a very bad signal. We need a big rise ex divi to restore ex divi confidence in my opinion. Vod has to increase by more than it's divi to remain credible. Forget all this support level nonsense, who sets these fantasy support levels. A load of rubbish! 1.40 again though, would be good?!
with such a big dividend its very likely you will see the opening drop as expected. i was actually hoping for some weakness this week so that the ex dividend drop took us to the 119-124 support zone. it would make an excellent area to add as it would be a potential base for 140 plus again. however given we are by 130p, this now means its not going to happen thursday morning.
....oh, my last top up was @132.74p. Quite a bit higher than yours, Dan. Will the usual ex-divi drops happen once again? .......I truly hope not!!.......
Yes Dan, I know I am not the intelligent type. A little bit dim in fact. Always misinterpret other people's true meanings. Guess everyone has got used to me already........lol
From a gamblers point of view, I love ex divi day, Who dares wins. Come on vod?! I do have a small bet on Ingyland tonight, but far more on vod. Perhaps I should bet on Germany??!! Come on mole, are you a secret closet vod supporter? Nothing to be ashamed of??!! What happens after ex divi is crucial I think. It's a big buy from me. Just please keep your (intelligent??) posts coming.
There was quite a volume spike yesterday. Highest since the pandemic and forth highest since 2015. Retail and institutions jostling in for that div perhaps? What they do after record date is the question.
Come on s.i.d.i. Mistaking the gang of 4 for us Amigo's & M.M. (mole-man) for Market Maker? All the best though mate, another good day so far today though, I just hope the dreaded vod ex divi curse doesn't materialise. I am still 1/2 p down on my latest buy.
