Looks like its going back down into the red - usual vodafone !!!!!!!
It is plainly apparent that danielh has twice as much to say as Mikey, the number of posts from each bear this out.
I wonder how many of danielh's posts have been enlightening, not many I'd wager & Mikey would probably say none whatsoever.
Don't be offended dan just banter !!!
The problem with selling out of this one is that it'll no doubt defy all logic and shoot up.
The problem with holding is that we'll probably keep seeing it duck down below 130.
The algorithm behind this share is clearly to keep increasing debt and frustrate the hell out of you.
High yielding shares seem to suffer this kind of sp paralysis.
Slowly but surely down we go again - poor Danielh - blood pressure must be through the roof .
I drink Redbull to keep me going, still need to work for 15+ years before my retirement.
I made money from VOD still but not as good as I expected. Nike, give me more beef otherwise we will get rid of you!
Forget the tea, I am drinking champagne to celebrate. They got rid of him at last, hooray. Mind you, there is nothing worse than a whinging ex employee with a massive chip on his shoulder? Good day today so far, let's hope it continues? Nice one Nick!!
Soon, if you want safe dividends after you are out of here LGEN & AV. are about as safe as you can get & about 7% div.
LGEN went XD today though.
Good on ya Mikey I too have retired but words of advice from one retiree to another; too many full English soon take their waistline revenge. Get yourself a dog & walk it at breakfast time.
Sold half my lot @139 a while ago, still holding 8,000 @ 119 average but I'll soon be ready to call time on this one I think. Will probably wait until next months results before acting, you never know we may be above 140 by then. I think we were at last years May results.
Sitting in the garden - drinking my tea and having my full english watching this rubbish continue its decline .
Sometimes i do wonder why i brought into this myself .....as have said before not for the faint hearted nice dividend as long as it doesn't get cut again holding out for 140+ then will probably sell half my holding to invest else where......where haven't decided probably a mining stock.....enjoy your retirement still have a few years to go depending how my investments go.... the way this one is going gonna be a long way off
Doesnt bother me either way now - i took retirement end of March . Sold my £1.02 share saves for £1.31 . Nice little earner . I am only on here to annoy Danielh who seems to think only what he says goes and he is lord over who can say what . I hope you all do well guys - even Daniel . All i can say is i am glad i am out of it .
ADVFN went up 49% today. Any connection to Mikey posting?
Oops..... think my Friday guess of 135.2 is a little optimistic.....oh well at least Mikey will be happy.....
We should get rid of Read as a starter, nothing positive has done for so many years
Any Mikey fans on here? It looks like he is posting on A.D.V.F.N. as well, called Fudge10. There can't be 2 of them surely?
"Nick Read giving value to shareholders" Getting rid of useless, whinging employees might help?!
Early days yet mikey to make assumptions tomorrow's another day
Looks like todays the day we start the decline - back below £1.30 - it was good while it lasted . Every year the same things are said about giving value to shareholders - not sure what Read considers value is !!!!!!!
I am on Fidelity and £45 a year too.
This Talktalk thing is annoying, is Nick Read MAD?? Talktalk is useless, no core asset at all, I would never use its "service", BT and VM are the only possible broadband options for me.
Nick Read can not get deal done, and got desperate so wants to buy Talktalk? I genuinely hope he is not so stupid, although I start to lose patience and confidence on him.
With Hargreaves shares and fund holding charges 0.45% capped at £45 per annum. most of the fund ongoing charges are discounted, meaning my legal@gen funds ongoing charges are less than they would be from legal & general direct, but then they bump it up by adding their holding fees, and no charge for buying and selling funds so not so bad with the funds, not as good as no charges though, I currently have 7 shares and 7 funds and one investment trust in my sipp and other shares in my isa, so think it would be expensive and a lot of hassle to move elsewhere, would be a lot easier i expect if i was just moving one share, so you have an advantage in paying no charges
cheers
Hi robleo. Thanks for your reply. You always puzzle me though when you say the divi's are covering brokers holding fees. I pay no broker holding fees, but if you do, then you are going to find far more difficult to make a profit.
Dan I know your fully aware of all the possibility's here, and if your happy to hold and ride out the waves, that's all that matters, If I was heavily invested in Vodafone I think I would be tempted to sell a small percentage off should this pass the 140 but without that crystal ball who knows what's right or wrong, for me this is only 5% of my portfolio and think it maybe best to just leave alone for now as the dividends are covering the brokers holding fees and a little extra and I would be selling at a loss, most of my dividend stocks are either in profit or floating in and out of profit, what I find works best for me is to top up my current shares should the share price drop below my average, rather than, selling off and buying new shares all the time, quite often when I have bought a new share thinking it's a good entry price and it's now going to go up and up, it will go down and down instead, unless I see something I think is really good bargain, some investors on these boards will tell you everything they touch turns to gold, so maybe they are very good at picking the right shares at the right time, but I cant say that's been my experience
It's quite plain to see what Mikey means - just making a factual observation.
VOD buying TT and thus increasing debt would seem compatible with VOD's strategy. After all, we can't let investors prosper can we?
Depends on junky Talktalk , if VOD buys it, 100p, if not , at least above 130p.
Don’t know why Vodafone is even interested with Talktalk, which has nothing in its core and bad reputation. My price tag is 0 for it, I could be wrong!
Hi robleo. Although I would love to get back my capitol losses on my vod investment, I am now happy to hold for the 7% divi, so if the sp is about the same in a years time as today, I will be happy with a 7% return. If the sp rises by much, then I will be very happy. If of course the sp dives then I will be cheesed off, but I am not going to whinge about it.
