Daniel I think that Bearish may have gotten the wrong end of the stick as regards buy back. Most shares purchased by VOD get re-issued to pay down debt, I quote … “Vodafone said it would buy back up to £340m of shares as the first stage in offsetting the issue of shares linked to convertible bonds.” So when a bond becomes payable (& Vod have lots sadly) the shares brought back & which aren’t cancelled are re-issued & off we go again.
If the buy back shares were really cancelled the SP here would be much, much higher & the City knows it.
Hi guys been looking at these for months now and think I will buy a few thou if they hit 102p, think the results are out this week and a divi of about 3p so a little return. any views ?
102.5 for me please
Please put me down for 110p again
I recon we are in for a great week! Put me down for 112.5p please
BEARISHBULL. You say you are not a fan of buy back. You then say that "at the moment our profits are buying shares to be handed out to management at a later date". Where do get this info from? Are you you talking about the M.C.B. buyback program? Giving out fake info is not very helpful, so can you please explain, or please withdraw you comments? Thank you.
I hope am wrong & will go for 96.7. Thanks
Vodafone closed level on the nasdaq at 12.47 which equates to 105.37 on the L.S.E. at current exchange rates. I will go an optimistic (as always) 1.10.4 for Friday hoping for good results. Hope to see some high predictions from you all, but everybody welcome, high or low. Even happy Mikey is joining in for a change, so good luck to him, although I of course hope he is wrong.
BEARISHBULL. Vodafone have to but back shares as part of the buy back program due to the mandatory convertible bonds as explained in the R.N.S. I am not sure why you don't get that? What rules need changing. Please read up about the M.C.B's which is very easy info to find, then you might understand? Cheers, have a good day.
Not a great fan of the buy back of any company unless they cancel the purchased shares, At the moment our profits are buying shares to be handed out to management at a later date. The rules need to change , maybe a company can only keep a third of buybacks in treasury and cancel the others that way we can see a dividend increase for the general shareholders. Just a thought.
Thanks Dan & roofer, well if anyone doesn't want to take part in the guessing game they don't have to, we all know it's just taking part for a bit of fun, we are all here for the same reason hoping to make a profit on our shares, so i don't get why some people on these boards just want to be grumpy, i have no idea if the shares are going up or down with all the things that are going on, so just hoping for the best, it's been a good week though, let's hope the momentum keeps going and the results are good
cheers all and good luck, we need it

Well done rob. That's what I call an Amigo double. Next week though, with Tuesday results, is the big one. I will look at the nas close before I put in my prophecy, & I think vod is doing o.k. at the moment, this time without any help from currency Exchange movements. It is a shame that some on here find our prophecy game silly, each to there own I guess? Thank's again to Roofer.
Thank you, about time as well just goes to show you can't get it wrong all the time, I'm honoured to accept this award
have a good weekend all, and hopefully prosperous times and a much higher sp
Accolade to "Robleo"

not really, although timing is everything and sometimes you have to miss a move because the prices aren't lined up. what I have noticed over 20 years or more, is that BT and Vodafone move largely in tandem. I think a lot of the buying and selling is done by fund managers who have themes, and UK telecoms tend to sit together. that said, BT tends to have more extreme oscillations. Vodafone is much more static. I suspect this is because BT has a much bigger army of small, private investors, and they tend to react more sharply when the price rises or falls. anyway, there are moments when you can make the jump, and the trick is to figure out when you should make the move. I don't take much interest in the share prices in isolation, it's more the % difference between the two prices
Hello Philip. Interesting post, but don't you find the costs of buying & selling, wipe out any profits?
Hi, I read a lot of comments willing the share price up, but maybe this is not as crucial as it seems. a high dividend, low cost share has a lot of attractions too.
I move between BT and Vodafone collecting as many dividends as I can. I use them to pay the cost of living. I do the same for my daughters, but theirs are reinvested into more shares and their share volumes have increased 40% over 3 years. In the end, should any of us want to cash out then yes, the share price is the main thing, but until then oscillating between two stable shares, both paying good dividends , is just as profitable as rapid growth on the sale price
Hello roofer. I think it is fair to point out that most (3%) of the rise on the nasdaq was due to the change in the £ to $ exch rate, so enough of these silly predictions please?! We wouldn't want to upset Nasty Narcus would we (not to mention) Happy Mikey. Hope we can have a lot of silly predictions for next week please, as it could be a bit rocky with the results coming up, could go either way of course, but I think hopefully upwards. Cheers Roofer keep it coming.
Narcus. I already know you are an idiot, so you don't need to come on here to prove it. You should try reading my post. As mole correctly pointed out the big vod rise on the nasdaq was due to the rise in the £ to $ exchange rate. My value yesterday was based on that. As for silly price guesses, there are some on here who own vodafone shares as opposed to working for vodafone, who think being positive is a good thing. Perhaps there is something about working for vodafone that turns you into a negative, miserable idiot.
Hi Narcus - no surely Dan hasnt been attacking me - haha what a surprise . Back in the 90’s this time next week !!!!
Results on Tuesday with dividend announcement.
So it’s time to hold/buy not sell will be nice to get dividend once again!!!
You are right Dan, better for you and your ilk to spout daily BS about the big rise expected this morning based on a totally incorrect logic regarding the Nas overnight, stick to the silly price guesses and keep knocking Mikey, he is all you have
Finished 12.47$ up 4.53% bodes well for tomorw Doyen Dan should of listen to your spaeman advice n gone all in .....
