IMHO the sp could drop below 80 when we go ex-div in June, in which case I will top up. I don't think 70 is likely.
70s lol
Wait and see what happens after the Q&A this morning. If I was an analyst I would want to know 1) what impact on profit has the 15% price rise had in April 2) which businesses are you thinking of selling and what will you use the cash for?
The main question is, if we break up VOD what is it worth?? Far more than todays share price
We’ll be back up into the 90s later, that wouldn’t surprise me at all
Coming out and saying they are going to streamline and cut 11k jobs, is pretty fundamental. Says they are following many other big operators and making some very serious efficiencies. Its companies that fail to do anything fail and ruthless survive and prosper.
Also says to me a good place for investment, although its a tough pill to swallow if you are one of the initial 11k.
Showaddywaddy, Boney M, Slade & of course Little Jimmy Osmond !!
If you are subsidising the dividend using asset sale money...then in real terms you already have reduced the performance dividend .
I don't think they will reduce the interim dividend , but the next final dividend will now depend on the CEO efficiency action plan and a return to a better macro, after this difficult phrase of inflation and low GDP growth. Do the foundation work now and see the benefits later on within H2 and the next full year IMO
Carrington, funny you didn't mention that you sold in the run up to the results until of course it turns out that the results have seen a fall, perhaps in reality you made it up to appear clever. I know you are lying because your last post about Vodafone was how much of a buy they were and you bought big again in late April, never mentioned you sold any.
Pathetic
"free cash flow which is everything in terms of future divis - the way out is obviously selling assets but I think the market is seeing VOD as a distressed seller atm so may well have issues getting top dollar in terms of sales going forward"
Obviously they should drop the dividend, I'm not sure why they haven't already unless they know something we don't. As far as selling assets as a distressed seller, I don't see that, if someone wants certain assets they'll pay for them. I also don't see Vodafone giving away assets, they're quite shrewd when it comes to deals; I worked for C&WW when Vodafone took them over and I saw how Vodafone play hardball.
The ROCE has slipped from 7.0% to 6.8% which is disappointing, showing they have a fight on their hands to get more out of the assets they currently have.
Germany wont turn around until the current world wide economic concerns improve IMO and you can see with Italy and Spain shows a continued increase in the low-cost price offers as customers choose cheaper options no doubt due to the cost of living crisis and price rises. Egypt doing well though.
The dividend this year has to be earned from performance, not subsidised from asset sales, and the market knows that
I think it is going to be H2 where any savings, and performance improvements start to show through - IMO
Everyone is targeting margins and profit at the moment ...CEO now has to deliver on that over the year ahead
i get the feeling ms dv is going to kick many ****s and do a pretty good job of turning around vodafone to its former glory. cutting 11k jobs is only the start. looking forward to see a slow rise now as we become more streamlined and efficient. this present price will look cheap this time next year.
The action plan seems to be fine words but no meat apart from the cuts. Exactly what is the detail for example on improving customer service, how exactly will they get more share of digital markets, what usp's will win them customers from competitors apart from pricing which is uncompetitive anyway.
Suspect as said there will be swings but when US opens suspect it will sink below 86?
I reduced my holding here on the lead up to results and sold what was left of them at 87p this morning - there are positives in the debt reduction but too many negatives, especially free cash flow which is everything in terms of future divis - the way out is obviously selling assets but I think the market is seeing VOD as a distressed seller atm so may well have issues getting top dollar in terms of sales going forward -
gla dyor etc
Just bought 23k shares with whole 2023 Isa allowance. Fingers crossed
I assume the zero growth is upsetting the markets but i gotta say the reduction in debt is the big thing for me , another year like that after some cost cutting maybe a 3 merger sell spain and italy , for LTH this looks good to me
" I’ve never seen an annual report so long….how on earth can the analysts digest that in an hour of releasing the results."
Analysts are only looking at key figures and they pick those out in minutes , all the rest is waffle to them ...they want numbers, not words
It is all about improving performance and an action plan... and timescale for it all..... cant hide any sliding performance behind asset sales , the market will see through it
Dont think there was anyything bad enough to take it down to 83. support seems like 86 or 87.
E& might pick another 5% if they can get them?
"I’ve never seen an annual report so long….how on earth can the analysts digest that in an hour of releasing the results."
I suspect they're focusing on the forecast drop in Free Cash Flow in the next year, possibly seeing it as a threat to the dividend.
One thing is certain - SP will be volatile today - expecting large swings
Xxxaccountant - I agree. how can you read a report and make a informed decision that quickly ? guidance is also important here
I’ve never seen an annual report so long….how on earth can the analysts digest that in an hour of releasing the results. I say wait for the conference at 10 and see what happens then. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a complete recovery.
After a 15% price in last month I can’t see why the analysts are missing the upside potential .
"Hi what is the net debt now?... "
Read the RNS that's what they are there for !!!
We will get the dividend👍. The market can do what it wants with the share price, I have no plans to sell.
Only 3% down.
Well as expected I guess they need to do something to drive the business, but Divi still the same and after a small fall I would expect the SP to move back up. After all the city love companies that cut staff and costs.
Hi what is the net debt now?
Thanks
