On another note, God help us all if this becomes a mirror of the WSG board. Not everyone there, but you do know who I mean. This forum has been a breath of fresh air in comparison. And long may it continue that way.
Thanks Bubsy, I was looking for the 2nd July write up. I may just subscribe anyway. I'm in Perth Australia, so trying to feed info regarding the mine solar potential back, but would like some down to earth reco's in the UK for my SIPP

Sorry. Eyes not working correctly.
Yes. 30/6
Just for clarity, that was dated 30th June, not 3rd June. Makes no difference though, the info is all there. I note there is another piece on 2nd July. Does anyone have access to that ?
Re: the aircraft and solar generation. It's a long way off, a decade at least I would think, as the integration of flexible panels into critical structures would pose serious risks in terms of strength, reliability and certification. And to be honest, a large aircraft probably wouldn't even have enough upper surface area to produce enough power for even a proportion of the power required. Put it this way, a B787 has 6 generators on it, 2 on each engine and 2 on the APU, capable of producing around 1000KVA of electrical power when all running together. I can potentially see it on a "Branson round the world" solar experimental aircraft but not passenger carrying machines with the requirement for double and triple redundancy in systems, such as is required.
In a WSG vein........ off out to count my chickens ;-)
