So the shareholders must have been much better off after that ????.. they sold one of the business in the far east was successful the other not so but but the actual amount was £8bn, not bad since they only brought the business originally for£180m ..
They didn't really "make" 5billion rather they sold off the business in Malaysia and Thailand which they couldn't succed with and decided to give the money back to the share holders. It's all in the RNS.
How, did Tesco make 5bn and return it to investors? (without taking it straight back again)
Answer is NO, Fecking no. Appreciate & digest. GLA - I'm enjoying the 3-4p daily swings keeping my LTH in tack. Today £2.269 out +£2.292 HNY

I wouldn't look too closely.

Very true but you have to really sad if you can get the complete week's shop in one journey from Aldi / Lidl. The range is miniscule and downright dangerous for those afflicted with allergies or have strict dietary needs. It Passover, there is nothing in either of those stores. I have no idea as to their use by Muslims or indeed any other religion.
Or delivery your shopping to your door .. I like some things about Lidl but Tesco have looked after me while shielding ..
Lidl do have 'store pullers' and cheaper on some named brands but those brands are limited. Lidl provide masks but at a cost. Hand sanitisers are very rarely replenished and any staff on the shop floor are often too busy to assist customers looking for assistance. Toilets only available at some stores but you have to ask the manager for the key. Hardly dignified if you have a disability.
Tesco have security at the larger stores making sure customers follow Covid guidelines and normally offer masks without charging their customers. Staff, even when occupied will escort you to an isle should you struggle to locate an item. Care is taken when stocking shelves and never throw perishables onto the shelves which is a regular occurrence at both Aldi and Lidl.
You can book a fully inclusive holiday to Turkey for 2 weeks in mid summer for less than £500. Help yourself to the buffet food provided that has ben touched and coughed over by people with poor hygiene standards and then sit by a pool on a sun lounger that has probably only seen a cloth once in a season.
Or you can pay double at a hotel in Turkey on a full board basis and be waited upon at a table, have food served straight from the kitchen and will bring you a clean bed and towel should you want to sunbathe with the option of a parasol if you want to sit in the shade.
Both offer the sun and endless amounts of food but I know which one I would choose.
Fair points.Do Lidl and Aldi have clubcard prices and a 10% discount card.
There are fools there are complete idiots and there are numbskulls. If you buy extra mature cheddar in Tesco made by a famous west country firm you will pay £7.82/kg and this is priced for the numbskulls. If you buy extra mature cheddar in Lidl made by a famous west country firm you will pay £4.48/kg If you buy Carte d'Or ice cream in Tesco you will pay £3.50 per tub and this priced for the numbskulls. The same tub can be had in Lidl for £2.
In addition i would say that a B and M opened near us and after much nagging i went there and was in and out in 3 minutes.Went straight home and jumped in the shower, itching and scratching wondering if i had caught fleas off the people in there, and that was just the staff.
An eye opener to the real problems in this country
Going large, you make a very salient point.I thank god that i am in a position to use Tescoand not have to count the coppers. My own personal view of Lidl and Aldi is they serve a purpose but its good fortune if you can find the same item a week later.

Tesco just grew its market share for the first time , in I think, 5yrs so if anything it seems their response to the pandemic and their agility in growing their online business is actually gaining them new customers and not the other way around
Agreed. I would settle for £2.50 and would sell. Long term Aldi and Lidl are going to chip away at the trade that Tesco’s does. Shame because Tesco’s on line are fantastic but a large percentage of the population just have to go to the cheapest shops to get by. Look at the success of B&M
..... and pigs might fly!!
Will be near £2.80 end of year
245p+ is my initial target.
Longer term perhaps 270+.
Circa 220's could have been a great entry point.

Well that 220 support level held out well, 3 times it was touched and bounced back up , looks like the trend is finally up with a shot back to that fabled 240-245 zone
Tesco up, but Sainsbury and Morrison’s higher. This is like one of my Cheltenham horses I’ve backed... pulled up.
But it has gone up . All the sales today and it's finally gone up. After all that with the special dividend and now it's moving why!
I think every other share has to go down before Tesco goes up .. ??
that some of the 'special' proceeds are making it's way back into Tesco.
Hi Rodney, same as you recently bought these couple of months ago.
But bought them for Special Dividend of 50p a share and at same time the amount of shares were reduced by 19 down to 15. This is why the shares dropped from £2.42 down to £2.20's. Hopefully if they go up to £2.65 will start making a profit.
Look at previous months posts for all the information. Best of luck DYOR.
Rodders, these markets are rigged by a select few. One of the traders involved in the Libor scandal summed it up perfectly when he said "if you aren't cheating you aren't trying hard enough" that says it all really. 280p would be lovely jubbly.
Having traded online for over 20 years this week is the first time I have ever bough Tesco. In the last few days I've bought two lumps which give me a Break even point including costs of 2.26105. I'm no expert and Know little of how tesco moves but I couldn't really see any good reason for the big drop in Feb? My preferred tactic is mostly a short term one, but i'm thinking TSCO looks like a good long term bet. Perhaps 2.60 - 2.80 this summer is a reasonable expectation?
