Eccles - i'm not sure if that's correct. The latest Kantar market share information saw Tesco slightly growing their market share so that would suggest consumers are still shopping with Tesco and if anything it might be taking sales away from the other 'big 3'. I think if you ask most suppliers the volume and security they get from Tesco outweighs getting paid a day or 2 earlier
I think the general consensus is that both sales and profit will be very strong for last year however as we know that is already priced in after the Q3/Xmas update in Jan. My worry is the same as JJ - inflation is causing a major headache to Tesco and this will have to be addressed in the full year results. The warning of how big an impact inflation could have in the forward looking P&L could result in the SP dropping, like it has with other retailers who have delivered a similar message to the market
Bailiff - early indications are the market agrees with me!! No surprises there as they can read an RNS and understand the positives and negatives whereas you only appear to be able to read the positives - have a good day x
Bailiff - I think you'll find i've posted more than once about Tullow but just not in the last 30 days! DYOR!! Also been a long time holder here and I'm just voicing an opinion that debt is going in the right direction but production isn't - that is crystal clear from the RNS - read what's in front of your eyes and take off those rose tinted glasses and it might help you
Lovely analogy!! :-)
There is also a pattern to Tesco on results day over the last few years - post strong results and the share price dips as people slice off profit and then it rises again over the following week or so. Wouldn't be surprised if this is up towards £3 again by end of next week
Owl - I've put the maximum into the SAYE again as it's a no brainer from a savings point of view plus it's looking cheap at £2.42. I also expect the SP to test £3 soon although I think it will take the Q3/Xmas results in Jan to push us there. GLA
Millcottage - I don't think it is Amazon tech. Tesco invested in a company called Trigo a few years ago who were developing this tech and think it uses that. Similar i'm sure but not bought off the shelf from Amazon
