I work for Tesco and have a vested interested in its success. I am also an investor. I make sure that I never confuse the two. As an investor, I have no loyalty whatsoever to this share. This share is in my SIPP and ISA accounts as an income share. The money is there, it remains there, I get a decent return and I have no doubt that, over time, the share price will grow.
Yep, Sold as well. 227.5, still in profit and will take the divi when it arrives. Glad to be out now completely.
Tescos had a golden opportunity to become the darling of the FTSE by increasing the yield and making for a share price before the consolidation of 300p plus, paying down debt and pension deficit.
Instead the BOD chose to line their own pockets, trash the market cap, trash the share price and lower the critical yield making dividend, and trash shareholder value.
Can't understand why any shareholder would be happy with this merde show.
Cheers and GL.
Yeah I sold as soon as we came out pf lockdown, and Im glad I did now. Even if I hold on fo the divi I would have only got a 2 figure number
Lol... But you can argue what's the point in hanging on to get your divi.. I could have sold at 2.35 and made 2. 7k but will get about 1. 5k in divi but only 200 in profit on sp.
It encourages you to hold your stake until it recovers.
But what's the best strategy.. Im starting to think should have sold and gone elsewhere
Final Ex-Dividend Date 20-May-2021
See Magic Dave cashed in and scarpered with his swag !
Hi mags1444, lol )
Yes. Tesco held up well against such a negative day in the markets, so I've held through, on the basis that the FTSE uplift going back through 7000 with CV-recover, will provide enough to counter the ex-div drop. We'll see.
Fortunately a gold share I'm in went up dramatically allowing me trade the other investment I wanted, rather than sell Tesco, so now to hold and wait for the 236-240 equivalent.
Tesco love Inflation!
@Gourmet.... you will be on the register at the time the trade was placed. Today transactions will be allocated the entitlement. I suggest you speak to your broker. Unless a nominee account and the named person is pocketing your dividend entitlement.
You can sell 8 am tomorrow
It is a misconception you have to wait until record
Date …. You cannot sell pre market though
But you will still get your divi if you are planning to sell
Tomorrow …likewise those who bought today won’t get their divi as their shares will not have cleared in time …
Sorry, Gavster .. I'm sure you're not a Gangster ...
After the divi I'll be looking 240 above before even thinking of exiting.. I'm in at 222 but happy to see where it goes as its well down with much upside.
You must be mental, hang on boys.
Gangster,
yes I too would be out anywhere above 235/6..
They are floating between 220 and 235 last few weeks ..
Fairy
You have to hold and be on the share register at the close tomorrow. You can sell on Friday. Payment day is on the 2nd July.
Good morning.I’m new to trading. When can I sell my Tesco shares to still get the divi? Also when does it get paid?TIA and GLA
Hope you get it, I got out yesterday, will be back in if I see three ducks in a row (222). GL
Let's hope this provides enough uplift to stop the SP going down with the rest of the market.
FTSE right now is opening up 60 points down. UK is positive wrt to CV19 recovery so we could trend upwards from a small gap down.
My target price to sell Tesco before ex-div is 236, which is now looking pretty optimistic.
We'll see. Cheers and GL.
Thanks leas. Useful info
Let's hope this continues even after the ex-dividend.....it's been too long on the low....
Steve
That was a UT trade. An uncrossing trade, which for simplicity is the amount of shares being returned at the end of a trading day in order to balance their books.
It is irrelevant in terms of trading but sometimes distort the closing price of a share.
Best to ignore.
Interesting trade
