Guy on go ahead bb called micky9toes so jerry has been most unfortunate. Should I? Debt reducing rapidly, divi getting reinstated, profits as scheduled, brokers all say it's a screaming buy. Watching the time travellers on sainsburys is making me quite dizzy and being north of the border haven't qualified for the discount on several bottles. LOL Running late myself like a vectis bus. Might see you the nicht.
Aye lego probably doesn't have time to read beyond page 3 of the Sun in the greasy spoon cafe lol. Reminds me of a line in a Ralph McTell song - each tea lasts an hour.
No I don't mean you. Why do people always take thing personally on these bbs. A man on these bbs said his nanny taught him that poem. Mind you he turned out to be as much a rogue as the rest of them. Mates rates at tht?
Doubt whether anybody has the time to read a broadsheet these days. That Martyn Lewis guy, John Inverdale and the former Mrs. Pat Kane all did their courses in Cardiff and London but hey I got the scoop on the lot of them and asked to interview the Rt Hon. Roy Jenkins in his Hillhead flat. You see all that rubbish on the tesco bb about plebs and I am middle class nonsense - all guff to me. You need to be like Kipling walk with kings but never lose the common touch. Children in need on Friday and Band Aid mark 3 30 years on. How time flies Goodnight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PivWY9wn5ps&spfreload=10
The Man in the Mirror When you get what you want in your struggle for self And the world makes you king for a day Just go to the mirror and look at yourself And see what that man has to say. For it isn’t your father, or mother, or wife Whose judgment upon you must pass The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life Is the one staring back from the glass. He’s the fellow to please – never mind all the rest For he’s with you, clear to the end And you’ve passed your most difficult, dangerous test If the man in the glass is your friend. You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years And get pats on the back as you pass But your final reward will be heartache and tears If you’ve cheated the man in the glass.
Free tea and coffee in debenhams cafe for cardholders in Scotland only but I've never seen any newspapers in there and you feel obliged to buy a festive mince pie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMu1T_Tg5Fw
are down then to them cutting newspaper advertising budgets. It looks as if Tesco read a comment on this bb last year from one of their major shareholders, Bonz 1957, saying that he did not read newspapers and they then foolishly cut the newspaper advertising budget and where has that got them? Okay I still like a hard copy newspaper because very little can go wrong with it but husband has switched to buying his for reading on his tablet. There's guys like lego, another tesco shareholder, say they can read for free on line. Most Scottish newspapers don't allow that beyond a couple of articles. But revenues down a little here and profits still as forecast and every broker under the sun has this down as a buy. All I can say to the brokers then is let's see you all lead by example.
What's with the massive price swings here this year? It seems to come down from 210-230p to 140-170p for no reason at all, that's quite a wide price range! Hopefully the market is waking up again given today's 7.5% rise (on no news).
or I might have meant DMGT!!
Trading on a p/e of around 7. Debt now only a small fraction of the market cap and being repaid comfortably from revenue. Dividends about to recommence and this should be a good solid income stock in the years to come. Rapid growth being seen in the digital side of the business. No reason why these shouldn't be around 10 - 12 times earnings which would still be significantly less than DGMT.
I should have bought in when it was around the £1.40 mark, tipped it to a friend as a good one and work for the company in another capacity.
.
like a fabbo breakout on the weekly here - 315p target?
Very quiet on here - wasn't always like that. I was on a very detailed tour of Laurieston Castle at the weekend and they had out old newspapers and the guide mentioned that the servants would iron them which came as a surprise to one of the folk on the tour. I've just finished watching series one of Downtown Abbey (they didn't televise that in Scotland until well after England got it so we bought the box set and it's only now I'm finding a bit of time to watch it) and they ironed the newspapers on that which I kind of think would have happened in the home of your ancestors lol. I'm catching up with you age wise I think. Hubby got a tiny free tablet for subscribing to the Daily Mail on-line for a year but I honestly cannot read or negotiate my way around a newspaper on a tiny screen like that and can't even see half the shares in my pf lol. I benefit from a real keyboard as a touch typist. The co-op are selling tht big snowman and santa for £4 now - £10 in tht store but in their 3 for 2s. I paid £5 in the co-op a couple of weeks ago and asked the girl in tht to ice a name on it for me. Don't tell anybody will you but I had loads of other things bought in store and couldn't decide who I was giving them to at the point of purchase but went back later to have them personalised. If one of the floral displays goes off then I can go out to the sales for a replacement gift and at least I'll have seen it in its glory. If I know I'm not going to see people until after Christmas then I am leaving the purchase of their gifts till later. LOL To end on a festive note, I hope you are still growing your own mistletoe x Merry Christmas when it comes bonz
My share chat may not be up to much, but as long as I can raise the odd titter then i'm happy. Best way to keep floral arrangements fresh is to keep them cool, outside in a shed with some light is preferable to being indoors with the central heating cranked up.....but beware frosts. Nice to be down here in the sticks where the big chains fear to tread and you can support local shops and businesses. Will be doing my bit for THT's t/o and using some of my vouchers in the next couple of weeks. Now if only they and TNI would bring back the div I would be more than happy. ATB.
LOL You are as humorous as ever. Well I don't read the newspapers as thoroughly as I used to either. I was in Glasgow last week and got 2 free of your favourite Cadbury's selection packs for buying both a Glasgow "Herald" and"Evening Times" from a street vendor though there's nothing to beat thorntons white imo. Supporting a young business this year by buying 5 festive floral arrangements but the worry will be how to keep them fresh - especially for the English visitor who is not due up until after Christmas. Provided they don't use red roses I think I'll be okay with just about anything else used at this time of year. ATB
Definitely not a Mirror reader, in fact don't read any of the papers. Came by these in a rather circuitous route via Mirrors buy-out of MIN back in '97 having bought into MIN when they floated in '94. Only a tiny holding like THT so not one that concerns me too much as between them they only account for 0.4% of my Portfolio, but nice to see them both considerably higher than recent lows. Was looking for my Portfolio to reach a major milestone by the end of this year, but a couple have gone into reverse, so looks like I will have to wait until next year for that one to be reached. Hope all is well with you and yours, and can just imagine the shopping frenzy you must be embarking on trying to cater for everyone.
This isn't typical of the shares you normally like to invest in and I can't say I had you marked down as a Mirror reader. I wouldn't be too hard on londoncalling bonz, we all get things wrong from time to time. I remember you weren't too enthusisatic about tht's chances of recovery but to be fair to you, you didn't hang about the bb casting doom and gloom over the proceedings. Trust your pf is flourishing as always. atb
Is Simon Fox to get a knighthood then in the New Year's Honours list lol
Nice 50p rise since your strong sell recommendation. Any other share tips you would like to share with us??
Worth putting on record here that having recently initiated coverage with a 200p target, following the upbeat IMS Liberum Capital have now raised it to 260p.
breakout - heading for 185p imo ...
I really don't think this will 'massively disrupt' the share price which is already very low, and the hacking scandal is almost certainly one of the reasons for that. If anything, yesterday's RNS made clear that compared to News International who are in it up to their necks, TNI's alleged misdemeanours are modest by comparison. It still may all come to nothing, but even if the company has to pay substantial penalties this is a business which is generating huge amounts of cash and will in the fairly near future be debt free and able to return significant value to shareholders. Unless there's a huge amount we don't know anything about at the moment, all the bad news is likely to be already in the price and there might be much good news to come about the company's future prospects - starting perhaps as early as next week with the IMS. Liberum Capital recently initiated coverage with a 200p price target.
Hope it does ..good luck all ! I had a fair amount a while back and sold out ..wished I kept them !
More talk of M&A activity and consolidation in the newpaper industry - coupled with the good fundementals on TNI and this one is set for £1.50+
