I am out of TNI :). Been very stressful at some points but overal it was a great investment. Good luck to all. Who knows we may see £1 soon.
I dont know if there is any news behind the decent rise today. It is in the highest level in the last 52weeks. Just sold 70% of my TNI shares and will sort out the rest very soon. Does Anyone know when the leveson inquiry's outcome is?
Thanks very much for sharing the info about squaremiledata - I've registered and it appears to be a very useful resource. I must confess that I sold half my holding in tni yesterday as I was getting a bit nervous given it's now almost doubled over the last two months...
squaremiledata.com is one of the best.. thanks for leting us know.. i registered in 2 second and I can see the short activities in a very clear graph,,
Not invested here but you can register with square mile data for free and it will give you the lowdown on shorting activities and there are a few other sites too which I have found less useful. This article re your new Chief Executive is asking " could he be the man to offload Trinity Mirror's 130-title regional newspaper division?" http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012/sep/16/simon-fox-mediaguardian-100-2012?newsfeed=true
Its in todays Telegraph, Tni has been updating some big players.
I generally look at the rough number and divide is by the total shares... currently around 4.6%
Markit produce a quick guide, summarised on ft. It has stated shorting activity as medium for several weeks. Today, that fell to low, and trading activity was a lot higher today and last Friday. I'm not sure where to get the real time actual % on loan though, which would be useful if anyone else knows.
is there any free website to see the daily activities in the shares on loan? I always use http://www.efinancialnews.com/assetmanagement#_ however the daily movements are not very clear there. I can see from there that there was a sharp fall on the shares on loan few days back but stayed constant after that..!
A lot of shorters closed today but I reckon there's still more to go in this price rise. This company is still seriously undervalued.
It would take more than your garbage to upset me.
Hope you didnt buy JPR at 300 !!!.
shorters are covering very fast these days but still they hold more than 4.5% of the total shares
what's all these activities about? any news?
Well at this sort of price I'm not surprised the rumours keep coming back. And one day they might just come true. And what would be the take-out price? 80p? 90p? 100p? One day, there will be big money to be had here.
I have just had read an e-mail from one of my friends, he thinks rumours of a takeover are doing the rounds again.
George said to Fred, i put 20 quid on a horse last week and it came in at twenty five to one, Wow ! you must be loaded , said Fred, not really said George, the rest of the field came in at twelve thirty.
I think you are right, the pension deficit is the biggest cloud hanging over Trinity, but at the rate the company is currently generating cash that could be reduced to a negligible level within 3 years or so, and if the general economic recovery comes sooner and stock markets continue to rise, that will help a lot as well. I like the fact that the company owns a lot of freehold assets to support the market valuation and as the new digital initiatives take hold it really could be the races quite soon. And sentiment seems to be increasing that the dividend will be paid again next year.
I read in the FT a couple of weeks ago, the heavy hitters are not in the stock yet because of the pension problem, if the board can sort this out and start paying the divy again i think you could be off to the races.
Donantonio, looks like Trinity has finally broken through its recent trading range. Not so long ago my analysis led me to believe that the company was drastically undervalued below 50p given evidence of the turnaround in progress, with year-on-year profit substantially higher. I have a 30-day price target of 55p-60p. What the wider market does will obviously have an influence too.
Still worth holding on ? I know it can all change but just wondered what the egeneral thoughs might be ?
Not sock but stock.
Looks like the sp is trying to break out of its recent trading range, or is it going up because world markets have rallied. I have a few chums who own this sock and they have had to suffer alot of pain. Good luck, hope u all make the cash very soon.
I can see the logic in what Singer said, Fox's salary is made up of bonuses that are linked to share price performance. A 3p dividend will boost the SP and only cost trinity around £8m which in the overall scheme of things is nothing! I'm already holding 30k and will look to add further this week when funds are available. I'm alsovlooking forward to seeing Panmure target price of 90p surpassed!! O/T Will then look to add either FXPO / AQP as both on my watchand list looking good long term investments!
A 3p dividend with the SP at 40p would represent a yield of 7.5% - and they say that's what they expect as a minimum!
