Makes a nice change. Picked a few up In anticipation of reassuring results May 13th, recent equity raise also a plus.
Just looking across at cineworld and they are struggling today. Our balance sheet looks similar and we are in pretty much the same line of work. Are we somehow shielded from the affects of covid 19 ?
I imagine the inside of a bowling bowl is far from clean . Is there a way of keeping the bowls clean that won’t impact game time ?
Actually shortly after writing the below I bought the shares back, felt in hindsight it was oversold and general market due a bounce, not sure how long I'll be keeping them
Not so sure, I sold the remains of mine yesterday (just in time by the looks), I had a nagging doubt that people would avoid going to communal indor places where they could pick up the virus, and more importantly to my profit that the market would see it that way too
Down over 12% today with no updates or disclosures in sector as far as I can see. Surely Coronivirus is not having this much of bigger impact on ten pin bowling as other areas.
Top up opportunity?
Just can’t get to invest in a company where management don’t have a sizeable skin in the game - or as per the Rem report last year, a requirement to do so - and the Exec Chair keeps selling. If it’s such a good investment why keep selling and why aren’t management buying decent quantity? At least the guys at BOWL hold a good value
oops to anyone who sold here, schoolboy error !
Thinking of investing here, fundamentals all look strong. What's a realistic target price?
Just missed a rise in sp so might wait for any retrace going forward.
I like Robbie Burns, but yes, he never seems to get burnt by any sharp drops a la shoezone
He seems almost unbelievably adept at avoiding profit warnings (see his trades in SHOE). Stops don't protect against gaps down. I suspect he makes more from his seminars than he does in the market.
Sold 2/3 of my TEG holding this morning as it's looking a bit peaky. Will re-buy some on any decent pullback.
Meant to say I particularly like Ten's implementing Escape Rooms into their entertainment centres, I think these could prove to be very popular
his books are a fun read though with good advice and has turned my fortunes around no end since I started reading them 3 years back, even had a couple of times when he's ended up buying a share I bought far lower (he says with a huge grin !).
Got a lot in here which I believe will do well
I think he's straight. Also he always has a stop loss unlike most punters. But I do admit that now. his tips are less useful in that he used to post his dealings 3/4 times per week when he first started. Now it's once every three weeks, so virtually useless.
On the face of it this looks like a good share. However, what's not to like is the reversal of fortune which will happen if you follow NT trades. He will then post that he somehow got out just in time, based on no information that the likes of you and me could ever discover. Funny that.
See that the Naked Trader bought into TEG recently. He thinks it's a likely takeover by Hollywood Bowl.
With a 5% yield and 90% of shares held by institutions and reasonable P/E, what's not to like?
Is this for real?? Google finance do not have a price, they still have it suspended. Any ideas???
or here
Obviously something has gone on with Costain (that we no nothing about) Along with PG we have a wonderful Tax LOSS scenario to look forward to. Only Issue is, I need some Profits to offset!!!! Agh!
Hope this causes a real stink in Manchester. Still no reason has ever become known as to why they have failed to pay the retentions and insurance was supposed to be in place. Truthfully just lousy management. Still written it of last month and at the current sp it is not a lot..
yes nightmare .the easy way to loose money in the stock market now a days .ALL the shares is nightmare
Bad RNS.
OUCH!
Thanks for your input. Have written this off so any positive would be a bonus. Sadly I do not put a lot of faith in councilors. I asked mine why so many motorist where I live ignore the "Cars Prohibited" signs after my partner was nearly run over by a boy racer in an area where cars were not expected to be. He came back and said that it was a long term problem and they could not spare them manpower to police it. Here I fear they will say they are in the hands of their contractor and in protecting themselves cost all the other such as Dagenham and Perth fortunes.. Our bright sparks here sold all the care homes to a private contractor. Now the whole lot are in serious trouble and who knows the costs involved to put it right.. HeyHo..
For what its worth I live in manchester and Ive asked my local councillors to look into it. Long term ist bad for manchester and LANCS. If I findout anything will let you know.
I have been considering the situation here and am convinced that the problems of the retentions have almost certainly resulted with PG and the other big investor being caught wrong footed. So they are probably in the same boat as small investors if this goes pear shaped. No reasons have been forthcoming as to why Costain will not pay the outstanding money but as most of the companies in the group are profitable what is needed is fresh capital to allow them to rid themselves of the contracts and procurement section. Then slowly the group could pay off its loans. As to Manchester if they refuse to pay close it down, or lay off the staff and invite Costain/ Manchester council to go to law. A decision will take years and allow more than enough time to reposition the rest of the assets out of reach.... For the big investors it may be cheaper to raise the loan than let it go into admin. They almost certainly will not get a lot back and in the event some or all the retentions are finally resolved it would go to the receivers.. As I have written this off whatever happens to get a few pounds back is a bonus. If it survives though it requires some much better management..
This is going to cost the public sector more than the retentions. Call Vince Cable quick.. And tell Manchester to take their waste elsewhere...joke . Teg has spent two years trying to resolve this. Speechless.
