Well guys what do we expect on Tuesday, a big rise, a fall, or takeover info
agree- ref customer non payment or contract cancel - youngsters may go home and live with their parents and give up their rental and own contract and just get their mobile added to their parents contract..which could be with another provider
Of course there is risk of downsizing the monthly cost by removing add ons ..but TalkTalk has a fair number of customers on 2 year ( i think) set price contracts ... either that or add on freebies would be offered to keep hold of customers
Any price war as a result of a recession would damage everyone in the sector - but market share will be a battleground
I think the market is cautious at present and looking for a range bottom from which to move up from and trade within ....
Probably falling as a result of perceived fear of bad debt when their customers lose their jobs in the forthcoming virus chaos.
It certainly will be a problem , but IMO the fall is overdone . I know that if I was in a financial squeeze I would everything possible to avoid losing my broadband . Payment to the provider would come before the mortgage or rental dues.
The equity value at year end was 35p a share , and as with Telecoms the debt level is quite high - but the key shareholders must see it as a future cash generative business - I mean Telecoms are seen as Utilities and essential as water, gas and electricity ...
..but even so...the equity isnt that great all the same..
Are they protecting the business form any Takeover threat - or preparing to sell in a Takeover situation ? ?
Something funny going on with the Talk share price IMO. Two major shareholders close to 30% and continuing to pile in, good Fundamentals for the business... why is it continuing to fall? I feel something interesting / exciting is going to happen within the next few months... GLA DYOR
Something happened around mid day..up almost 4% in 2 hours - investors chasing a rumour?
Something is in the pipeline here, too many directors pilling in, Tosca and CD both with over 29%???????? if it hits 80pence am doubling up
29.86% of shares
If CD goes over the 30% and he doesnt want to make a bid then it can be put to a shareholder vote ( CD unable to vote) and the remaining shareholders can accept the >30% holding without a bid ...but..if the vote went against CD he would have to make a bid or sell shares to once again go below the 30% line
Always good news but I couldn't see his % on there but he must be about 30% now surley.
Charles Dunstone buys another 1,000,000 shares - @86p
This was from an article in March
“ He has bought more than 12m shares over the past six months, and has 341.3m, or 29.77 per cent, just below the 30 per cent threshold that requires him to make a bid for the rest of the business under takeover rules. ”

May be he’s protecting his baby from potential a takeover.
WOW......Now that was a meaningful Director buy.....he must know everything is sound to be buying 1M shares...
Yeah..I think this is another share moving up and down within a range...now looking for the range bottom again .....the concern is obviously that there could now be price wars within sectors like telecoms, supermarkets, etc as competition for customers in an economic downturn hots up.....margins then getting hit....
TalkTalk though likes to try and keep customers on longer term deals to try and keep the churn down, so..you have to hope that revenues stay relatively stable
Buyers will be well rewarded at this price in 12-18 months this is now a strong buy for my and I added this morning GLA
If directors are buying like crazy, then usually means something good is brewing.
O2 & Virgin merged recently. Maybe someone is looking to snap up TALK to fight back?

I'd say there are worst places to put your money. It's a very competitive sector. However the latest set of figures look solid enough to me. Churn is low. Re financing has been completed. No need for any CCFF support. Div intact, and Roger Taylor continues to increase his holding.

So what do we think is going on with talk, With directors buy up large sums, could it be a buy out coming from within, or lining up a sale, What does the message board think
Hi Volcano, yes I keep looking! But not pressed the button. WHM placing was a bit of a shock yesterday but all done within hours. What are you up to?
Directors have been buying lately ,could we have a mini rally here, you never know.
TalkTalk Telecom Group PLC
Preliminary results for the year ended 31 March 2020 (FY20)
Headline EBITDA growth of 9.7% (pre-IFRS 16); 34% Fibre customer base growth
Strong FY21 cash conversion; Dividend of 2.5p maintained
Added Talk Talk 3.875% 2025 to my fixed interest portfolio
YTM 4%
I can't imagine TOSCAFUND ASSET MANAGEMENT LLP would go with such a low offer.
Dunstone's buying could be more of a defensive play as opposed to desire to acquire. Both Dunstone and Tosca are close to threshold. Time will tell.
