This is just the sort of attention we need right now - with a reversal of the decision on Government Guarantees SM could be back in business with a bond issue.
With a General Election looming the timing could be just right - even the Tory's will understand that.
Unfortunately like millions of others in what was this great country I have totally lost any confidence in our government and that they have completely lost the plot. We are led by self centred, privileged****** who take turns in sharing one malfunctioning brain. I still hold all my shares.
Totally agree Oldgimmer - but they do need us when there is a general election - even the citizens of the North and Scarborough and Whitby have a Tory MP.
There is a good test for the Government this morning - will they help Thomas Cook with a £200 million bail out or will they spend £600 million repatriating the holidaymakers who will get stranded if Thomas Cook goes bust - answers on a postcard please.
News is they’ll reject funding but I’ll be watching with interest and if a bail out come everyone should be straight on to their MP(s)
We shouldn’t play one off with the other because I’m sure TC is (maybe) a company worth the money , but ... cake and eat it the gov can’t have.
Chilting, underwrite a £500m loan ( ie do nothing but a pledge) or let a company who is eventually going to bring cash from around the world into this country contributing 7% towards GDP?
I think they'll pay the £600m bringing passengers home....they're thick enough!
