Its not illegal, but it is a taxable event if the buy-back within 30 days is not done within the framework of a tax-free wrapper (ISA, SIPP)
Fred he is probably referring to 'insiders' ..... found this ..... In the case of top executives, they also frequently need to give a 30-day notice of a desire to sell or buy stock. This notice is public information.
Probably best, Fred. Sounds like they are mixed up and/or don't know what they are talking about. The 30 day CGT rule may be part of it, but it is certainly not illegal to sell a share and buy it back lower within 30 days. If it was, your broker would probably block it too. I have been doing this at various times for years. Any profits do need to be considered for tax liabilities, unless in an ISA, of course. ATB
Carondean - I understand about capital gains tax etc but this person said it was illegal to sell shares at a higher price and buy them back at a cheaper price and make a profit - you had to wait 30 days before you could buy them back at a cheaper price . I have tried to look it up but people on here have said they’ve sold SXX at say 30p and bought back a week later at 25p. I don’t understand how that’s illegal. I started to disagree but just gave up!
The SP fought back after being red for the majority of the day which shows there is underlying strength in the move North this time. I am convinced we are about to recieve some positive news re stage two and more take of agreements once stage two is announced I don't think there will be any shares at 33p . The clock is ticking and every day brings us closer to the grand opening . Best of luck to all investors
Fred. Read up on buying and selling shares with regards to CGT and avoidance. To long to write explanation. Cheers. Camp. Tick-tock tick-tock.
Dearest Dearest Andy - You're obv. a 'MM' - but now is not the time quibble quable but rejoice... and I am. NOw my one share I jointly own with my Grand parents 132 and 133 years old - and are of ill health after the London marathon - (I asked them to complete so we could buy one more share - the bucket got heavy for me old granddad) - (grandma in gorilla suit was very hot and bov'd) anyway I was at the finish line for photo etc so the 3 of us cooled down knowing one more share going to my (our) retirement fund - My grandparents will gladly bring me up to Whitby next year for the 1 party (after the 2019 Manchester Marathon) - should be a pound by then - you should know. If we have gathered a pound by then (rather than selling a share (or two) - We will all present it to you - You will recognise me as the cool bloke in TUX with two bent over pandas. ------ or we could say well done all
Sorry to ask probably a basic question but having a conv with someone the other day and they said it is illegal to sell shares and buy them back at a lower price within 30 days - but isn’t that just trading? They said I would be breaking the law but I assumed that rule was for company directors etc. Again apologies if it’s something I should know - I know about bed and isa
In case anyone is interested, I'd placed and cancelled 2 orders with HL to Bed & ISA 10k of SXX in April. They were taking too long to go through, and I wanted to get it over and done with when we were not on a steep upwards move. I finally placed the order today, and it went through in 30 minutes! Previous attempts I cancelled whilst "pending" after 2 whole days... I "lost" 300 shares in total, but CGT and Div tax are no longer a future concern......

Rekrab. You owe me 1 share. Just give me a £1 at the £1 party.
33.70 + 0.36 %
Bounce off the 32.40 support level this afternoon.
"Funnily enough I'm part Dutch........" That's handy. The double Dutch on these pages should be second nature to you then. :)
Hopefully we are seeing the results of a few bonds been cashed in. I've tried to get my head around how the shorting all works but I have to if my head up and admit it's too much for my baldi heed to understand

Did I say 3 ??? FRIDAY 35p - SATURDAY SLEEP - but Andy I hope you are right for today - Did I say 2 shares - meant 1 Good luck amigo regardez

All stage 2 debt financing workstreams are progressing well with the past three months spent finalising due diligence materials, undertaking discussion with key stakeholders and working with lenders' consultants and our advisors. The Company will commence re-engaging with potential lenders over the coming weeks and into the second quarter. This is the first major milestone in the 2018 timetable which is aiming to have commitments in place during the second half of 2018. Could be july at the earliest
blue finish wouldn't surprise me. Possibly trying to get a few shares from the weak to sell to them on the run up to the AGM.
The 2018 Annual General Meeting will be held at 1.00 p.m. on Thursday 31 May 2018 at The Events Centre, The Principal York, Station Road, York, YO24 1AA.
My advice is just stay well away of trading CFD's. Your trading platform they give you to trade looks and sounds like a fruit machine for a reason.
Funnily enough, I'm part-Dutch and am well aware of the terrain over there ;-)
Building in a bit of profit before next rise after AGM.
