I would'nt worry too much about the daily ups and downs, long term this is a winner.
Just re-invest the dividends, sit back and watch that nest egg grow.
Why on earth are these down so much today, one would expect the funds to be buying up these eco friendly stocks whilst shunning the non eco ones ? The hypocrisy of it all with the COP starting Sunday.............
(… happy to buy ‘em back circa 1625, ono.)
So many more eyes than previously will be on the proceedings of the COP, #26 in Glasgow. SSE.
As a sponsor SSE should get some exposure to international potential deals, as they've expressed is a mission.
https://www.energylivenews.com/2021/10/20/cop26-manifesto-urges-governments-to-pour-more-money-into-wind-industry/
"A group of 90 wind energy companies has made today a fresh call on governments to “get serious” on energy transition and accelerate their investment decisions in the run-up to COP26. In their so-called COP26 manifesto the companies say that annual global wind installations need to scale up by four times current levels to help countries reach net zero by 2050.
The consortium claims with the current projections wind energy projects will provide less than half what is needed.
Signatories include wind sector giants such as Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, Equinor, Iberdrola, Ørsted, SSE and industry associations from the UK, Asia, Europe and the US. The group calls for urgent actions including the implementation of sensible permitting schemes, voluntary cooperation on carbon pricing and increased wind power ambition reflected on updated Nationally Determined Contributions."
New statement on the website.
https://www.sse.com/news-and-views/2021/10/responding-to-the-publication-of-uk-government-s-net-zero-strategy/
"Delivering net zero will require huge investment in low-carbon technologies, and the way to bring that forward is to set a clear, long-term policy framework. So it is extremely helpful to see government today building out the key pillars of its approach as this gives low-carbon investors and developers like SSE confidence to keep investing on the required scale.
“The recent situation with energy markets underlines the need to invest in more indigenous clean energy sources, and critically the flexible solutions to back them up. The ambition has always been there and now we have a more detailed roadmap as we approach COP26. Next we need to get on and deliver; and we are looking forward to working with government to make the ambitions of net zero a reality."
Fair enough spikeyj. Anyway, looks like Market is copping on to undervalued SSE from the Simply Wall Street article yesterday saying Intrinsic Value maybe 99% higher though many of these articles is simply an outlet for statistically showing off...!!
Any news why the rise today……..
hi clued, my post about dividend policy wasn’t intended as a negative
comment on the overall prospect for total returns from SSE, i’m positive
on medium/long term and i am long here. but i’m focused on total returns,
rather than dividends only, & was just highlighting that it’s entirely possible
that the company will want to make some reset of dividend policy going
forward, in relation to its broader capital / debt structure, financing costs etc.
Many thanks for the You Tube Link
Most informative
SSE will put my name emblazoned onto a wind turbine at Dogger Bank.
Nice touch. It's something they're doing on their website. As a shareholders why not consider the same ?
https://www.sse.com/cop26/sign-the-turbine/
Hi Catitche.. There's a pretty good youtube presentation that an investor, roguetrader, did recently in June, if ploughing through the SSE results and presentations in the investors part of their website takes too long.

Please advise where I can my find the percentage of SSE,s output that is from renewables ? as opposed to output from gas and other non renewables . I ask as up here on the west coast of Scotland SSE seem to be generating more than usual from |Hydro for the time of year after a long period of low rain fall .If renewables percentage is high would that not follow that SSE would not be affected as much as other generators who rely on gas ?
Thanks
Spikeyj, but won't the increase in EVs materially help SSE in medium term ?
i am not much of a chart boy, but interesting to see share price almost
touching that line thro’ lows at late oct ‘20, early march ‘21, late sept ‘21.
it’s a divi stock for the next couple of years, but it’s quite likely that when the
current dividend policy expires, and they set out their plans for shareholder
returns over the next few years after that, the revised dividend policy will be
much more conservative. - doesn’t mean SSE would be a bad investment,
but the current yield is not necessarily a good guide to SSE long term payouts.
SSE is one of the purest Green stocks and EV use is increasing. Profits and B/S are healthy and Div also is in top 10%. Possibility of a bid as well from one of the Oilies.
Maybe the stock is considered too much a div stock whilst many want more growth ? But can't understand the sp compulsively dropping every chance it gets....should be £17 - £18 at least
I think its more about the market in general rather than SSE, most stocks have been up and down a bit this month.
Just market movements in the absence of fundamental news. Take a look at the 2 year chart. The Channel can clearly be seen, and the base of it is around 1530. If this is broken downwards, then 1464 or 1434 could be the bounce prices. All three are decent buy in prices to consider trading/holding. All IMO.
With energy prices going up high and thermal generation still in charge, the electricity generation costs are going up as well. Electricity bills will go up in the same time, which do not necessarily bring more profits to SSE, are purely compensations to the electricity generation costs.
Therefore, I don't think the energy crisis affects the SP. If it did, it would be worse effects.
What’s is happening to sse share price today the last two weeks has been a kick in the teeth……..
bought enough SSE now.
… time to sit back and wait
with fingers crossed for 2022.
My order got filled at 1555, not bad as I'd sold mid 1600s.
The price could fall further chartwise but I'd rather do something else than heightened price watching.
IMO this is a hold going into winter's higher energy use, await the development of the new wind projects and reinvest the next dividend(s).
Cheers & GL.
Think I'm gonna bank some at the current £15.65
i’m just dribbling in steadily, rather than trying to time it.
but if you’re timing is good, go for it and be lucky!
I'm still waiting to reinvest and buy back in with my DRIP and capital after top slicing in August. Chartwise this could go all the way to the base of the channel around 1530 or lower but I have a limit order currently at 1555, being around an area of support for 2021.
We'll see. The last three dips, took us all the way down to less than 1430 in May and July, and previously all the way down to 1290 in March.
Anyone else looking at near term entry prices ?
