Hello ladies and gents. May I ask if anyone has any positive sentiment towards this stock? Even an obscure possibility, is there a shred of hope for a turnaround?
Well, at least .77p - according to HSBC's most recent "reduce" recommendation. That does not sound encouraging !
I would imagine that they would calculate the increase in labour costs into future contracts. As any business would. Serco does pay it's staff above the living wage.
Serco slumped after it was downgraded to a 'reduce' rating by analysts at HSBC, who said the government's proposed 'living wage' adds another tier of unknowns to the Serco story, and considerable risks to the margin upside.
that is how bad things could get before they get better.
Takes a while to turn a tanker.....so waiting patiently. Some are losing 25% of value on no new news, so I'm kind of thankful I'm not in the likes of GLEN today.
the from there it will drift lower.
wow, up 4 to 5 pct two days in a row, great. but it is still far away to break even. come on, SRP.
Let us see how the market reacts to this morning's RNS on BPO sale, which is supposedly earnings neutral but debt-reducing when taken together with other things. Soames keeping to his word and executing another step in the strategy towards SRP focusing on public sector exclusively.
by going below £1 I feel Serco will rot in hell for at least another year. I really feel it can go a lot lower than £1. However, this one will bounce back at some point.
serco were winning contracts thick and thin with little competition .they were able to still bid relatively low on the assumption that having a huge monopoly would cover small random losses around other contracts .This was like a proverbial bubble...growing fast and making vast money from local authorities and government contracts one after the other...by the time serious problems came to light their domain came crashing like a pack of cards..losing contracts...losing public trust ..share price collapsed from a high £ 7 and now teetering about the £1 mark..the prediction is that there will be no dividend for a few yrs possibly..my opinion this companies share price will drop further..no dividend no point..avoid..expect more contract losses..
Hi Parkside13, why most of share price have gone up since Black Monday while this SRP is stagnant ? Please explain its strategy with your knowledge and judgement, Regards.
Bothy your views are irrelevant to value as you didn't matter. But other views are interesting. I've taken a full position today at 118p as I think the valuation looks ok, balance sheet is alright and Soames is excellent. Think current intrinsic value is around 175p. But decent upside beyond that.
*You're Try not to prove his point. ;-)
your full of it
Thx Isamboi ... taken half position ... Exactly what i was saying earlier insight such as yours is invaluable... We know its not going to happen overnight but your comments indicate that they may be on the right road. The risk reward is so favourable ...
I used to work for Serco until late last year but left to have a go at contracting. I agree a little with Bothyboy's sentiment. But there are some phenomenally talented people working from Junior management through to Senior management. The company was undone by trying to get away from core competencies, which is now the manifesto once again. The share price was killed by poor and over ambitious decision making from the Board. But these have been removed and the cream of talent left will rise to the top. Mr Soames is the perfect leader to restore past performance. Speaking with old colleagues, morale is rising slowly and the fun is back in bidding for work. I have been watching closely here for a year and will take a position in the next couple of weeks because I believe the bottom has been reached and SRP will steadily rise again. As a side note, Guardian long reads (and the podcast version) have a terrific feature on Serco/Rupert Soames.... which is well worth a read/listen. GL
i was in and out for %5
Parkside 13 ...Go be a teacher somewhere else... I 'm interested in information which can assist in my trading / investment ideas... an employees view can be invaluable ... Get off your high horse and write something of value rather than make abusive comments to someone whom i'm sure has posted with all good intentions. Thanks Bothyboy I was close to taking a position but your insight has put that on hold.
Do they really employ people who cant spell and who cannot punctuate. Why don't you do something about it instead of popping up on here writing idiotic and irrelevant posts.
i work for this company, things are desperate, public confidence is low and services are ran at the bare minimum, middle and junior management are highly strung trying to meet near to impossible targets of performance and the best ideas senior management can come up with is to turn of lights to save on electric!
in for 5% tomorrow
Bad news for Serco, too many botch ups in New Zealand prisons, namely Mt Eden, including recent death of one inmate is likely to result in loss of Government contract.
yes.hoping break of 140 level next week after forecast interims at least "a little better" are absorbed by the market and buy orders are placed by the institutions. looks like slow & steady progress candidate. AIMHO.
Could someone explain the meaning of SWAP 77.5 million shares by Lancaster Investment on 30 June ? what does SWAP mean as that day's volume is about 7M, far from 77.7M from RNS. Regards,
