pay day , nice
Just looked at historic charts. I must've traded in the 6 and 7 ranges. £5.83 may not be such a big loss after all, may even be on the positive side of break even ...... In my dreams by thruppence.
A buyout. Darn it, at that price I'm probably being forced to crystallise a loss. I think I bought these in headier times wgen it was up at 8 and 9s, made some money trading dips and peaks..... Then got suckereed into buying the next dip that promptly plunged into a trough.
Here's hoping for a counterbid.

I have held these for a few years and it's been a bit of a rollercoaster share price wise , July thing's seemed to be getting back on track but since then the price has slowly headed south , any thought about the future number of brokers peg it as overweight .
Harry

Thanks Italian, I've not been in this share for yonks either but I think you are right. A pull down to 300p or so and there will be profit ahead. We'll wait and see what happens
Last post: The.Italian, 12 May 2019 10:46
if i had to guess and it is just a guess id say down but how far will depend on the actual figures.the rise back to 360 ish hasn't held and my guess is we could well be back to 300 or so.probably completely wrong but i won't be buying in ahead of the results.im currently not invested but would certainly be back in if we went to 310 or less.just my opinion and please don't base anything on it.
Anyone any thoughts where this will be after the results?

Been buying in from around 3.10.
Happy with the nice steady move back upwards.
I am hoping we have seen the bottom at 300 and on the way back to the 360 and above.

Good to see Sophos pushing their home use products more;
"From today, Sophos Home Premium for PC has the same artificial intelligence (AI) technology that many people are already using in our enterprise product, Intercept X. This technology allows Sophos Home Premium for PC to detect and block both known and unknown malware before it executes.
In addition to this, new enhanced real-time protection against application and OS exploits stops cybercriminals from controlling trusted apps, using unpatched vulnerabilities to gain access to a system, and stealing credentials."

Hi FTSE, Metro made most of its money in the last hour or so, hence my reluctance not to stay with it, so well done for hanging in but it's down this morning so pleased with my move to pull out.

Trend - was away today so didn't check my trades.
Looks like my 'Metro' investment has paid off......bought £20k worth yesterday at close of business @ £13.55, looks like they've gone up to £14.80 in this evenings auction......very decent return so far. Will keep & see how they are doing by Friday afternoon (tomorrow).
Thanks FTSE and congrats on your picks. I dipped in early morning on Metro and left a bit later after deciding it wasn't really going anywhere, not that it won.t pick up either later today or tomorrow

Trend - Re: what's my view on Metro Bank?
Picked up £20k worth at close of business today. Think it's worth a punt over the next week or so.
I understand the reason for the panic selling - but usually these big drops recover a bit over the following 5 days or so. Sophos + Halfords + ASOS all worked for me. Circa £4k up on Sophos, made £21k on ASOS, & circa £4k up on Halfords....plus I've made circa £9k this week alone on EZY & trading IAG....it's been a good few weeks for me so risking a punt on Metro.
Yes it's held its own so far and still hoping for 330p but any sign of weakness and I'm gone. Why have the directors recently sold? FTSE what are your views on investing in Metro Bank?

Really not sure how much further this is going up so sold out and I'm happy with my profit. It will now probably race up to 350p or somewhere fabulous. Good luck to all holders and I'm sure I'll be back in again here some time.

I'm beginning to wonder if this has now topped out for now, any thoughts anyone?
Last post: FTSE12, 21 Jan 2019 16:21
Trend - I agree, I would not touch TCG at current price (can't see any real upside to TCG whatsoever). It's always a risk buying anything ahead of results these days.
I never touch anything in AIM or Small Cap (apart from ASOS - made quite a significant amount on ASOS since December when the SP had the massive and sudden drop on lower expectations). Bought in @ £21.40 and got out @ circa £32.50.
I'm just keeping an eye out for anything that panic sells on lower forecasts - where they are way oversold IMO - ASOS & Halfords & SOPHOS were good examples - they don't come along everyday but I keep an eye out for these type of opportunities. That's why is always good to hold cash to use when these opportunities come along.
Will be interesting to see if the U.S markets continue their uptrend (since the December panic sell-off).
I'm ignoring any nonsense about Brexit impacting UK shares - bad news usually only impacts UK market for a few hours and then it's back to business as usual.
I've nothing specific in mind at the moment - just keeping a close eye on the markets.
So FTSE12, any idea where your next port of call will be after Sophos, I see GFRD TRY have half year results next month so I've got my eye on them. Flybe has turned into a right debacle and glad I steered clear. I think I've missed the boat for TCG.

no real direction today so far.i never pay any attention to brokers targets.im looking for an entry point of about 290 but realise i may not get it at moment and good luck to those holding for 330p etc
Last post: FTSE12, 21 Jan 2019 13:51
Trend - I'm certainly no 'high roller', wish I was!
I didn't see my £28k investment as a risk with Sophos - the SP is quite predictable after a panic sell-off with the latest results. I certainly can't see the SP ever hitting £4 in 2019. - missing their results targets twice in a row would not inspire confidence for a long-term hold.
I may get out tomorrow or Wednesday, money could be invested elsewhere - always good to hold cash - there's always a bargain to be found on a panic selling day.
Agree with you about the brokers. I got in later than you and I can't exactly be described as a high roller but I think 330p would suit me.
Last post: FTSE12, 21 Jan 2019 13:22
Brokers know about as much as we do....it's all guesswork anyway. All depends on state of the global markets.
Eitherway, I'm still happy, bought 10,000 at £2.81 on the panic selling last week. Circa £3k up at the mo.
Still plan to sell if SP reaches £3.30......and it will, maybe this week? if not, reasonably confident it will be next week. What price are you holding out for 'Trend'?
Views are 320p,340p and 440p (for what their worth). Bit of an up and down start today not helped by FTSE but as we know the dow can change all that.

As well as SYM &Quiz which went up 12% ish last week for me...it will be biggish lump in if I manage to sell V8 LFC & N3 WCU currently being auctioned on Regtransfers site...got 90 & 75 grand offers in so far.Put it this way. A footie club buys a decent player for millions, pays them loads of doshski per week even when they breakdown (when you don't see them) and do they recover their investment? Most not.No wonder many clubs are deep in debt. Now with cherished car number plates you buy them and you will get similar pleasure at looking at them and they go up in value some 1500% in three years. Now that's what I call a sound investment but you must buy the top tier ones. Not selling M4 NCU until they get a Champion League berth.
FTSE12 - I follow the same "contrarian" policy but disappointed of late with DEB and TCG - not a lot of life in the SPs and the market mafia pushed the spread on DEB up to 10% last week so we need to be cautious about when to sell !
Regards and GL next week.
.....jumped back in @ £2.80. way oversold IMO. Bit like last time - it will see £3 - £3.50 within a week or so.
UPDATE.....nice to see it's passed the £3 mark. Hopefully positive markets will help pull the SP further north. Next few weeks should be interesting. I'll get back out if it hits £3.30. That'll be a nice £4k profit on top of the £3k profit my Halfords buy on Monday 14th Jan is showing. These companies can be good value when you buy on the profit warnings - always way oversold in the panic selling and the SP's usually recover to a fair degree. Trick is never to be too greedy - always take the decent profits.
not bad finish after all
SP still motoring up
SP moving back up nicely
Another 10% this week and I'm deffo out

morning wouldn't argue with that.just personally want to wait to try and get sense of direction.good luck whatever you do.
Lots of headroom on the SP to bounce back - next week should see at least a 10% rise.
Regards all and GL with your own plans
Have traveled relatively nowt today in my new Rolla and have half emptied a bottle of Ardmore... okayski at best. Enjoy your vino my friend. A little teeded off this week for when I saw the big drop the last of couple of days & after doing my research asked my 3 daughters `what do you think about SOPHOS' as I never heard of them before as am just a humbleish investor in mainly Technicals. Was a tadge disappointed by their response so I lumped in only a quarter of what I initially intended & bought in around 310 ish. Biggest mistake is to seek advice from emotional females as investment & emotions never mix. I could have paid for the Rolla with the difference between what I was intending to lump in and what I did. But common sense prevailed & lumped in more since. As a matter of interest I am biggish in SYM which will fly in the next few weeks and if anyone has a hundred grand or so to invest then I have a couple of car registration plates for auction on REGTRANSFERS if you are either N3 WCU or V8 LFC footy fans? M4 NCU I am holding back for now unless I get fair offer. X1 OUD I am keeping specially for my eldest and she is...feeling very sorry for her fella but he might cope as he is a dentist and will keep her gob fllled. QUIZ looks under valued must cut the other 2s spending monies to pay for their emotional sins. What will be will be good luck to all...always buy low and sell highish and never ever be greedyl Now where is my 25 year old Rosebank!
