Good article....I know for a fact that OSHO had talked to Elitheni quite some time ago......... South Africa has new chance to hit global coal top spot Http://www.miningweekly.com/article/south-africa-has-new-chance-to-hit-global-top-spot-in-coal-export-dh-minerals-2014-01-29 "Osho South Africa director Zaheer Surka would like to see South Africa tailoring its low grade and off-specification coal for the market. “If Asia can do it, why can’t South Africa do it?,” Surka asked." "Action required would be to develop new coal mines, increase rail and port capacity for Cape-size vessels in particular, create partnerships and maintain political and social stability" Coega? "Earlier, IHS global steam coal advisory service senior director David Price had commented that South Africa had “lost ground badly” in 2013, despite the relatively weak local currency placing it in a favourable low cost position."
Of a serious upward trend. More news to come here very shortly. Will be in excess of 20p IMO
Statement re share price rise The board of SNR, the AIM quoted natural resources developer operating in South Africa, which owns 74% of Elitheni Coal (Pty) Limited ("Elitheni"), notes the recent rise in the Company's share price. As previously announced, the SNR board has been seeking a strategic investor in order to raise the funds required to recapitalise the Company. The Directors confirm that the Company is currently in advanced discussions with one such potential investor and will provide a further update as and when appropriate. There can be no guarantee that these discussions will result in a successful investment in the Company.
If ever there was a time to pump the £ into SA...... Http://www.fin24.com/Markets/Currencies/Rand-breaches-R11-level-20140123
Yes but funding wont arrive until all the "debt "issues/disputes are resolved .local politicsetc which could stretch on Andy is probably overseeing all these things now and not until these are resolved will he press the button for funding He is an extremely able negotiater and creative. His investment in this case has a philanthropic edge Nobody is going to hoodwink him . He managed to outmanoeuvere my old boss Elliott Bernerd and he isnt certainly behind the door. So yes hopeful here but not anytime soon for a spike
I do agree, but funding is the first major step towards recovery. I would suggest the price today will look chaep in a weeks time. All IMO of course.
Funding is not really top of the issues here. Its all regional politics and economic outlook. If it has any prospects Andy will just sign a cheque I guess he has in recent weeks ensuring that measures are in place to ensure any of his future investment he makes isnt going to go west
News is coming very soon regarding funding
Expect more buys this afternoon. Last chance to get in at bargain basement price.
What does that have to do with Craddock other than the contract they have with Elitheni? The biofuel plant was to be built by this year originally..... :-(
Sure there is plenty going on behind the scenes here regarding funding. You never know we could get some good news in the not too distant future. I am happy to sit tight on a modest holding here.
Nothing changes in SA.......:-( Http://www.getnews.co.za/story?id=2409
Absolutely ....If they are still using the same costs as of 1 1/2 years ago (Spangle) the mining costs today would be $45.77 per ton and not $60. Asuumptions based then was R8.25 to the $1......today it is R10.85 to $1. But this isn't the problem is it. They need professional mining management and they have to undo the damage done at the mine. It will probably take more money to put things right.
Is that enough to make a good profit?
That will do......now Elitheni roughly gets @ 83% of that due to its high ash content.
Is this the correct one? Looks like prices are getting stronger again if it is: http://www.indexmundi.com/commodities/?commodity=coal-south-african
Could you please remind me again where you track the current coal price applicable to SNR. How is the current price looking?
LOL I wonder if one of them will be around Indwe? To appease the locals? Http://www.nmtownshiptrust.com/What-We-Do/Remembering-Mandela/Mellon-charity-mobilizes-army-of--volunteers-for-M.aspx
Absolutely churnet...... If that is where the Vuwa shares went to........ more than likely....:-)
I imagine that CHDM will also count as a "BEE" - so it should be OK, or possibly a good thing as the local community is getting more involved. Must admit that I don't understand the twists and turns of south african politics.
Chris Hani District Municipality........It is one of seven districts of the Eastern Cape..... and the Elitheni Coal Mine lies within it.
Hi substp Sorry to be a bit thick............but who or what is CHDM , and what is the potential significance ? Many thanks.
Vuwa, BEE, held 4% of Elitheni. Was talk about selling it on to CHDM....
