Just watched the evening news. Correct me if I’m wrong.
But the SNG have been testing the drug at Southampton University’s / Hospital. Southampton’s new hospital confirmed that they will be taking on COVID patients and will be using 2 types of drugs that have been the tested and confirmed stronger recovery of their patients. Which didn’t require a ventilator. This is a strong sign of SNG001 being used. I hope SNG release a RNS to confirm this and further update.
Thanks
Ragz
hi Ragz, I just watched that report on ITV 10 o'clock news too and the 2 drugs mentioned were Remdesivir and Dextamethosone, absolutely no mention of SNG001 I'm afraid.
Amazing Southampton mentioned but not us I am beginning to believe there is a conspiracy against us or its not as good as we think it is very strange
Southampton University Hospital just had new state of the art intensive Care Unit built costing £22m providing 22 beds
opening this week would of been great to announce Sng001 at the opening
Notwithstanding anything the UK government do or don't do, I remain absolutely perplexed as to why UK news agencies aren't avidly covering the SNG001 Covid story. My sole conclusion is that there must be some sort of legal framework in place (pending the official approval of SNG001 if it comes) preventing them from doing so ? Who knows, but it's very strange and very frustrating !!
The doctor has to speak as she finds at the moment. We are waiting for usage approvals. How can she mention SNG001 when it currently is not quite available to her??. Trust me if she’s based at Southampton she knows about SNG001. Good find GKB regards French ATU approval. That starts on the 15th apparently and SYNAIRGEN up for the best tech award at the AIM awards on the 18th October. Should be lots more news flow to come.
No one mentions us it's a conspiracy keep the best drug on the market down
Miggy, isn't SNG available to her under the MAP programme. Presumably Marsden's extension is readily available in the hospital phone directory.
MAP agreement with Clinigen was announced yesterday TED. That piece to camera was probably filmed yesterday at the earliest. I’m not even sure the MAP is up and running as of today?. I contacted Clinigen to enquire about cost and availability, still waiting to hear back. I’ll post here if i do.
Miggy, good point, thanks.
The thing that I can't reconcile is that if we assume that the silence is because the government is fully aware and supportive but can't mention ahead of approval, then why is SNG asking for government help in the RNS to fill the at home trials. It just doesn't make sense.
If they approve SNG, how are the big boys going to make big money on Rem and Dex?
It's an atrocity that we've had results for over 2 months and the government has done nothing to support or assist a UK company that's still the only one in the world that has produced a reasonably effective covid treatment. Thousands of people catching it every day in UK alone and we can't fill the fecking 120 home trial places!
Just found this... sometimes we can over looks things.
Mr Marsden says he instructed companies to start producing supplies back in April to ensure they would be available should the results be positive.
He says he expects Synairgen to be able to deliver "a few 100,000" doses a month by the winter.
Sng have said many times now that they are working flat out! That is a big hint that they are preparing for a big announcement. Will be topping up if price drops again.
This has become a no brainier.
Thanks
Ragz
my mp says government is at least supporting the trial
In the UK, remdesivir was authorised for selected patients in NHS hospitals at the end of May, and since that time the Department of Health and Social Care has been working with Gilead, the manufacturer, on the supply of the medication. I have been assured that there are sufficient stocks in the UK for patients who need this medication, which is still being monitored as part of UK based clinical trials.
There are also early indications that budesonide, an inhaled corticosteroid, may prove useful in moderating the severity of Covid-19 infections. However, the Centre for Evidence Based Medicine at Oxford has noted that clinical trials and observations must be carried out to establish whether this drug may be repurposed for the treatment of this disease, to ensure that it is both safe and effective, which is particularly important given results of other trials which have indicated some risks to particular patient groups from this treatment. I know that all the ongoing clinical trials teams are working extremely hard to find proven treatments by gathering reliable evidence through clinical trials, as quickly and effectively as possible, and I will continue to follow this progress closely.
I am also greatly encouraged by the preliminary result of SNG001, a treatment being developed by the Southampton-based biotech firm Synairgen. I understand that initial findings suggest that it could significantly reduce the risk of the disease developing more severely and that hospital admissions could be cut by a third. These are, however, preliminary results. The data must still be peer reviewed and the Government is supporting a further larger trial.
I know that work continues to find other treatments to further reduce the risks and to save more lives, including through the Recovery Study, and I will continue to monitor progress closely to ensure that patients in the UK suffering with coronavirus continue to have access to the latest and most effective treatments.
so i reckon until.peer reviewed the government not playing ball
I appreciate trial data needs to be peer reviewed but if you do your research into SNG’s board and in particular Prof Holgate, I don’t think he has too many peers who could tie his shoelaces when it comes to respiratory diseases. Might sound blaise but it’s true. When the government needed someone to head up their recent investigation into how best to prepare for covid this winter who did Prof Whitty ask to chair the investigation? Yup Prof Holgate.
Eyepaul- thanks for posting reply from MP. I dont think the peer review is the critical part here, but the bigger trial. I'm also getting the impression that SNG are not putting the current data forward for peer review but are waiting for more data, from the pivotal stage 2. All my opinion but its the impression I'm getting.
Waiting game at this stage for more data which hopefully backs up the initial findings
People in Liverpool want to take Gov to court allowing that Liverpool match to go ahead resulting in losing loved ones to Covid Now will they be held to account again not being fast tracking the wonder drug .How many souls will be lost while academics pontificate .Staggering !
