Now the dust has settled anyone that took their Taks is today sitting pretty. I sadly lament the passing of the best trading share of 2018.
Cancelled the bridge loan. Does this effect the takeover?
Have I missed something. Why the large spread.

Sorry, 2018 !
Super. Incidentally there was an informative 4-page feature on Withholding Tax, "A Taxing Chore" in The Investor's Chronicle dated 26 October 2019. However, still leaves a few questions.............
The last few days would have been scary had I taken out a larger long CFD , at one stage it was showing a 50% loss but now on a modest profit ( at least enough for a turkey) but I will hold on for £46.80 as I need a bonus of mince pies and a bottle of whiskey. Please don't takeda any notice of me as I am an out and out gambler. For the few remaining SHP I have in my ISA I am hopeing for £47 but not really too concerned if I end up with cash and a few takedas outside the isa, looking at the depressed state of the overall market today I would take a punt on them at least going to 5500 yen within 12 months.
Para, yes I seem to always be signing a W8-BEN. I think it is every two years for the stocks, but I also have to complete them for my US Bank account and US property!! Fortunately they are one of the simpler US forms! With regard to charges, I am with Lloyd’s stockbrokers and I am ashamed to say I don’t know if there are hidden charges in the FX rates, I have never checked! I am just pleased that they do allow foreign stocks to be held on their platform! Good luck with your investigations.
Thanks for the suggestion Super. I have accounts (ISA & Share Dealing) with two of the lowest cost platforms and they both have a 1.5% Fx charge. My Canadian dollar dividends are quite large and the existing bank charges would actually be lower. Is there a UK platform which truly has no charges associated with foreign holdings/dividends? There is also the question of regular W8-BEN submissions to qualify for the withholding tax exemptions.

Lud hi, i was surprised today when i discovered that i could not transact my shp shares online and my broker said i could do it on the telephone as they have put a bloc on it due to the corporaqte action and told me the last date to transact is 2d jan not the 5th because the record date is 4th jan and they can't change it. However tyey also told me that i should be able to hold my takeda shares if I wanted which would be in dollars on the nasdaq exchchange and no mention of any resrtrictions with regard to ISA-comments welcome!
Superdad, According to the rules you should be able to hold Takeda within an ISA but the horrible new Barclays Smartinvestor is not allowing it, they are stating that Takeda is not eligible to be held in an ISA but I think they are lying, I also have a problem with Iberdrola which Barclays do not want to deal with as they are Spanish , I hold them from the days when they were a UK company but they will only offer to sell them, they have dumbed down the service. I suspect a few other providers allow buy and sells on non UK shares but Barclays are offering a very poor service . I see that HL state that Takeda can be held within an ISA, My only reason for staying with Barclays for the time being is that I mainly trade shares regularly, the objective being to try and buy and sell the same shares on a daily basis or at least once a week, this game for me on SHP is sadly coming to an end.
Hi, does anyone know for certain if the Takeda shares will be able to be held in an ISA, as my Shire holding currently is in my ISA. I have tried to read through the 100’s of pages of takeover paperwork but can’t find a reference to it. Thanks
Last post: piscator, 17 Dec 2018 13:31
I hold some Shire shares within an ISA - held on my behalf by Iteractive Investor. who will NOT be listing TAKEDA Shares after the sale. Advice would be much appreciated.

If Brexit deal gets agreed £ will rally 5-10%+ Coming into the Brexit vote, the 2 year average gbp/yen was 177 and gbp/dollar 1.54 Based on the current share price/exchange rates, the price deal is worth £48.82 or 5.8% discount. Any SP positive reaction is capped because the deal mechanics are already agreed and so it would come down to where £ trades against the dollar & yen. £46 could be a good exit point if you think Brexit deal gets agreed in view what would happen to £.

Japan Fair Trade Commission approved today but that was almost a given thing so no big deal, the next stage is the EU which is less of a given thing but my money is on it getting approval which as long as there is no market crash in the meantime will probably see another step up in the price. I feel its still probably worth a punt even at todays price but who knows what could happen over the next few months to the downside. There has been lots of opportunity to trade SHP, its always fallen back after each leg up, great trading range this past few weeks.
What approvals are still outstanding before the deal could be completed?
And what is the timing for the possible closing of the deal?
Offer value now approx £48.81, 12% upside, I see risk now as EU decision time soon which I dont see going against Takeda SHP being an Irish company but risk may push price further down until decision day. My main concern now is the US v £ stg risk, seems the dollar prospects negative over next six months so even a no deal brexit not likely to crash the pound. For a 12 % prospective return I am holding but not buying more at this price.
Offer value approx £49.61 today , approx 15% upside (if it gets all clearances, Takeda price holds, and $ and yen stay put against £) whats the odds on it all happening ? I remember SabMiller and a few other big ones at this stage in the takeover game and many people doubting they would get through the hoops but more often than not they do. My main concern is the possibility of a market correction.

Unlike many here who claim to have bought in at rock bottom prices, I bought in at an average of 4,892 so I am stuck until the end of the year when I expect them to return to this figure. Then it's sell.
Whatever made me choose Pharma stock? Oh yes, it seemed a good idea at the time.
Roll on 8am!
I fully expect the share price to fly today takeda sp is nearly 5% higher and cinryze has been approved so expecting a good day!

Celtic. Many thanks for your up to date answer.
Value of the offer a few minutes ago, based on live fx rates, was 5019p with 2325p in cash and 2694p in shares. With current share price of 4398p, the share price would need to rise 14.13% to match. From the original offer value of 4901p, we have lost 113p in value due to fall in value of Takeda shares but gained 231p because of favourable fx movements on both the cash and share elements. Takeda (Yen) = 4725 £:$ = 1.30424 £:Yen = 147.164

Thanks for the info. Every bit helps.
Only a small holding of just over £23K with an average buy in of 4720 and will be looking at a sell lat just over 5000.
I have full confidence in this being reached. Although share values usually drop when I buy in (Sods Law), most eventually pull back and end up as a nice profit.
No reason why these should not reach the 5K mark later this year.
Value of the offer a few minutes ago, based on live fx rates, was 4972p with 2300p in cash and 2672p in shares. With current share price of 4332p, the share price would need to rise 14.78% to match. From the original offer value of 4901p, we have lost 109p in value due to fall in value of Takeda shares but gained 180p because of favourable fx movements on both the cash and share elements. Takeda (Yen) = 4730 £:$ = 1.31888 £:Yen = 148.494 My personal 'get out' price is £51.

You could write an article on SHP and with some luck SA would publish it, they dont have an opinion themselves . I like reading both sides of the story and thats what you get with SA, at the moment my money is on Takeda getting SHP although not as confident as I was with other recent takeovers.
don't try polishinh a turd mate. They obviously have hidden agendas when the **** good companies off and a few days later change their tune.
U r partially right. They did talk about destroying value ( first shp bod buying bax now tak buying shp) more than sell sell. To me not a massive difference but still. Now they are not saying buy buy just should TO get shareholders approval, all being equal and not sell out of Tak bringing sp down, plenty room left for longs to profit. IMO a proportion of big shareholders, who did not already, will be reducing their holding in tak since upside in Tak sp Is negligible comparing to downside. Alpha has not discovered wheel but stating obvious. Can’t see bigger swings than £38-42.50 range till next year or some dramatic news - rumours popping out, IMO only. https://seekingalpha.com/article/4180926-can-shire-buyout-stopped?utm_source=partner_investingcom_feed
Only a few days ago Notgreedy posted link to an article in seeking alpha that pretty much said get out of shire as its majore risk to investors and now a few days on same Seeking Alpha has put another article saying Buy shire as it has a big upside and therefore profit to be made. Says a lot about these sneaky bstrds...

I think its 28th jun that shareholders decide and if it gets the go ahead the share price should rise sharply. I dread to think what would happen if the deal is scrapped.
Yes this is a hard one to call. Am hoping the deal will go through but there are many obstacles yet to overcome. I think Takeda have a vote at the end of the month so will be interested to see where it moves from there.
I read that myself and expected the share price to rise but no, down nearly one percent.

Finally sold out yesterday with only a fist full of dollars lol! Crazy share! But will buy back in if it drops to around 37-38
