The East Coast Main Line contact is proving to be a real poisoned chalice for Stagecoach. Pre-tax profits have plunged from £104.4 million pounds to £17.9 million pounds after booking an £84.1 million pound exceptional charge for anticipated losses for the East Coast Line over the next two years. Stagecoach will have to tread a fine line with Rail franchise Regulators in their bid to try and renegotiate their contractual rights and obligations for the East Coast Main Line without endangering and putting at risk the renewal and bidding process for the West Coast Mainline and other future rail franchise contracts at a future date. smokey17 The total accrued debt liabilities for the Group including short and long-term debt instruments is just over £1 Billion Pounds. ok follow im not sure just had a quick look think stagecoach made 70 millon profit but debt is 700 hundred million thats a fair few quid check out yourself ?
Can someone confirm that this business is sound and that its just a waiting game before share goes up again?
yes stagecoach not sure whats happening here .I remember buying these at 245 and thinking it was a good price i notice blackrock are shorting here haveing said that first are not fareing forgive the pun much better im in at 119 and 114 they are both out of favour at moment good luck ATB m
Loss of the SWT franchise income, and unresolved issues with the East Coast Main Line contract will continue to weigh heavily on the share price.
Had a look at the volumes on the 3 mth chart in here....no unusual signs of dumping...volumes are ranging as norm .... on average between 1 - 3 million so there must be another reason...bear in mind, a whole parcel of FTSE 100 have taken a bit of a hiding over the past few days
They don't have to sell, they can choose to hold them but yes a lot will sell and yes that is a lot that will be sold over the coming days/weeks, unless they have been dealt already and all done.
Share being sold en mass as SWT staff have to sell their shares from BAYE scheme by the end of September having been taken over by new franchise First Group MTR. Thats a lot of shares being dumped in a short space of time.
Have criticised this Company but have to admit the above is juicy and i am thankful for that Is there interm update at end of month do not seem Abel to work or on there website Thanks in advance
😎 Nicely after ex-div...holding a few of these and looking forward to the divvy dropping into the trading account. Also holding MKS from 216 and just entered BT.A seconds before closing bell....plan A is working 😎
this is about the 2nd or 3rd i've miss-judged, and the cash i could have used for this sort of purchase is tied up in RMG which is on a downward spiral, and NAH which i went into for the divi and hopefully a small profit, and it promptly fell off a cliff after it's ex-divi date, and never recovered, just continued to fall, at it's current price, the dividend yield is like 15% if they sustain the divi payment amounts and yes, i agree with you these are still a good punt
Looks like manipulated before x div now up healthy 3%
yeah, a solid looking day, i wanted in before yesterday, but other things conspired to ensure i didnt have the funds available, looks like a solid ex-divi day for sure... bugger ! oh well, perhaps i'll get a chance to get in again later
That explains it then, can only see more decline at this rate, from the highs of £4 odd it has only ever gone one way, losing the SWT franchise probably had a big impact seeing as it is the only one that turns a good profit of all TOC's and the busses not doing so good, I think the first signs was back when the Paris terror attacks happened they said passenger numbers had dropped.
I believe you have to be in close of play the day before the ex div date, therefore, you can sell today and will still get div. hence, today's drop in sp.
So to get your divi you must be in on this day, looks like either investors or the market in one way or another really does not like stagecoach at the moment, a divi of 8p and down as much as it is today, looks like this will either rise after today, by end of day or there really is much more to fall, it's not looking good at the moment.
Just purchased some of these. Looks a potential recovery stock to me. gla
Starting to think being manipulated that's watching buys a sells
# Trades Vol. Sold Vol. Bought 214 62,041 170,830 looks like there must be an unpublished sell if the SP is down 0.57% (1p)....
Well something definitely stinks here, I've never seen such a continued decline in an SP in the run up to a dividend, and a pretty big one at that !
Someone sounds desperate to get in at a low price before the dividend. Or if you don't like the company because your bus didn't turn up, just take up jogging. No point being all bitter and twisted.😎 Me, I'm just off to give another £4 to the nice Stagecoach man. All cash in the pot.
