"Sorry for the OT, but really it isn’t. Think about it."
Here's my take on Stokes innings
He first did the hard work taking over 50 balls for his first 3 runs.
Then when the situation demanded it he cut loose. My favourite was the ramp shot he played for 6 off the world's number 1 test bowler (Pat Cummins). How can you do that?
Well Scancell have also done the hard work to get to the position of starting trials.
Here's hoping they cut loose now.
One area of concern is captaincy. Joe Root IMHO is not a good captain. He does not bowl the right bowlers when the situation demands it. He should have instilled a much more caution approach in the 1st innings (8 of the 10 dismissals were unnecessary IMO)
What about CH. The Joe Root of Scancell?
Well it was a test match of spot on predictions for me. At the end of the first day Mark Nicolas said England was in the driving seat. I was having a rant saying that it was a fundamental rule of test cricket, you can’t judge until BOTH teams have batted. Then day two, England skittles out for 67! I told you!
I was in the crowd Saturday when they appealed for a run out on Labusagne. My finger went up. The on field umpires went “upstairs” . I turned to my nephew and said, no need to go upstairs, that’s out. The decision from the third umpire ... OUT. I said to my nephew, “I’m the forth umpire”
At close of play day three we stood for photos with the sun going down on the western terrace. My nephew said how he had enjoyed the day and how glad he was that England had put up a fight even though they were going to lose. I said we aren’t going to lose, we have plenty of time and all we need to do is not lose wickets. If we lose only 1 or 2 per session we will win. You can’t bat for 2 days and NOT get the runs. A bit closer than I had thought but we did it. I text my nephew this Erving with simply “I told you” .
Great to have witnessed something special, I would say on a par with “Botham’s ashes” 1981.
Sorry for the OT, but really it isn’t. Think about it.
Evening Ipad, well that is the one sport I am not really into. We never played it at school, but I never did fancy at least a 1.000 lbs of human flesh clawing all over me!!
you have not mentioned England's great win at Twickenham yesterday.
Well done Ruck. it was only due to your post yesterday that I tuned into the Test Match this morning. What an amazing game, certainly one for the memory banks. Feeling rather old being reminded it was forty odd years ago that Botham won that special Test Match. Where have the years gone??
Pretty excellent weekend too, 3 points at Norwich, glorious win against the Aussies, a few hours of fabulous sunshine, great company and spent nothing!!, lol. Got nothing much to say about Scancell that hasn"t been said this week, so back to enjoying a lovely weekend. Take care guys, and thanks again Ruck.
Yes, we need to win this test and then it would be great to get a fit Anderson back for the next test.
As Geoffrey says
"(James) Anderson has a gift from the gods: he could swing an orange."
True, it did capture the thoughts of many - mine included.
The reason I didn’t join in yesterday was I spent the day at the cricket. It was a glorious sunny day and as an England supporter couldn’t have been better - saw England bowlers take wickets, England batters score runs and overall put in a position where we could actually win it. Will be an interesting day.
Chester, interesting nobody added to our posts this morning and I rather thought it encaptured the thoughts of many.
I keep reminding mysely that I don"t thimk we have ever been in such a position for a series of good news, and now the details are out re the IND I can"t think of any more points that make me feel any different.
So a goodnight all, a good day for me today, thoroughly enjoyed seeing my team win their first game of the season, heres to plenty more.
Yeah, pleased with that win.
I agree, that is what I always thought, no obvious reason to think differently. I have a feeling someone will be asking that question at the AGM!!
Hi C7
Mucho congratulations on a well battled three points..
With regards to the FDA it still intrigues me what can be so wrong (in the FDA's opinion) with Ichor’s device that it has taken over twelve months to find the solution to the problem.
If the device has gone through the European / UK process without there being any objections surely the FDA could have considered why it passed over here.
It is very bewildering.....
Chester.
""none of us thought that the permission to start was linked to the FDA / IND""
As loathed as I am to go backwards, that still niggles me and makes me question what the purpose of news is . Was it really necessary not to have made that known to us? After all it has taken over three years to get this far. Surely if we are told the patients will be chosen in the coming few weeks, it should say ""subject to the IND being approved, and if there is any further delay in it being granted we will start the U.K. arm in that timeline"" I cannot see that would have caused any panic and it certainly wouldn"t have if were told that two years ago. After all it has been a cloud hanging over us for a very long time, simply ""Why is the trial taking so long to start"?? Maybe we will find out in the months to come, maybe we won"t but doing this way does pose the question "why"?
But as you say chester.." Just shows that we only know a fraction of what's potentially coming next."" I think that is always the way, especially when you spend so long in clinical development. I guess that is why I am looking forward to the AGM so much, not so much for any spectacular news but for clarification of timelines from where we are and further news of progress from our existing pipelines.
Yeah super confident we will get news that trial has began by the AGM, especially as it seems it is discretionary whether Scancell announce it or how many patients dosed, so I think that will give us all a buzz to hear that,
We have definitely just had a very interesting week. Of all the speculations of why we had not started the UK arm of the trial, none of us thought that the permission to start was linked to the FDA / IND. So it turns out that the UK arm formed a part of the US trial but now when the FDA finally pass TriGrid 2 the US arm will form a part of the UK trial.
Being a long term shareholder with Scancell is not without its surprises. Just shows that we only know a fraction of what's potentially coming next.
So with my very dusty crystal ball I'm looking forward to news this week that we have finally started the trial and started the process towards the much anticipated trial data.
At some point very soon we should be out of the wilderness for good.
Chester.
