Same here Nick, I have not repurchased sold shares yet, but I feel the next few weeks will provide an opportunity, I feel there is very little support level with Rank, and when it moves(either way)it moves very quickly, I am still holding plenty(66.5p average), but glad I sold 15-20% of my holding. I have a lot of faith in this company and do not have a problem increasing my holding, when to buy is the question ??.
Ok so we have a slight retrace now. I sold a few higher up and need to buy back. The difficult part is when?
Buying is just as difficult as the decision to sell. Can the market inform me when the pullback is done? I wish.

JG68, I do not know, but as you have said they are definitely in this for the long term, a lot of their shares have been purchased at sub £1 after 2008 stock market crash, and several large accumulations in recent years, obviously Guoco have all the keys to Rank as no takeover can happen without their approval, I am very happy to continue to hold and add if it's share price goes down, and see how it plays out, regardless of takeover possibilities I like Rank and it's future profit potential.
Pop
What do you think his endgame is then if not to take it private?
Eventually accumulate so many shares ( possibly under 1.50) that it is taken private?
Don't quite get it, but it seems he's definitely playing the long game?
Maybe needs someone like playtech to come in and force his hand.
They recently tried to buy 888 for 1.50.
JG68, from what I know Guoco made a £1.50 a share offer 15 years ago which was accepted(reluctantly), but they did not take Rank private, since then they have continued to stake build whenever the share has languished, there are other examples of this situation the biggest I know of on the LSE is ABF(£20 Billion mkt cap) who have a shareholder that owns 60%, I know this does not answer your question but Rank is not unique in this situation.
Have these majority shareholders got special permission not to make an offer or have they and been knocked back when they reached 30% ?
Anyone know?
Have you been at the sherry again MaryBR190? Or are you speaking in tongues? Not sure what you are trying to say? Or did you accidentally sit on your keyboard?

The Rank Group Plc ('Rank' or the 'Group')
Publication of the Government's response to the land-based legislative reforms consultation
Rank welcomes today's publication of the Government's response to the land-based consultation launched in July 2023.
Today's announcement represents good progress and another important step closer to the passing of secondary legislation which will enable Rank's Grosvenor Casinos and Mecca Bingo venues to better meet the needs of our customers. The legislative process to deliver the land based reforms now commences with the Government announcing that six regulations will be laid before Parliament.
The increase in the number of gaming machines permitted in 1968 Act casinos from the current maximum of 20 per licence to up to 80 machines will result in Grosvenor Casinos broadly doubling B1 gaming machine numbers from 1,361 currently. We intend to add the first c. 700 machines during FY25, with further machines being added in the following years in line with property refurbishments, extensions and relocations.
Sports betting will be permitted in all casinos and we will be introducing various sports betting concepts in a number of Grosvenor venues.
We welcome the Government's commitment to removing the prohibition on direct debit card payments on gaming machines, alongside the introduction of appropriate player protections, and will now work closely with the Gambling Commission to ensure that customers are able to benefit from this change at the earliest opportunity.
In land-based bingo, the introduction of a 2:1 ratio in clubs, allowing operators to site two Category B3 machines for each Category C or D machine, will enable us to increase our current Category B3 cabinet numbers by c. 500 machines. This change will allow us to gradually remove ageing, reel-based machines from our Mecca estate. Overall, the Government's policy will enable us to reduce the number of cabinets across our Mecca estate.
John O'Reilly, Chief Executive of The Rank Group Plc said:
"Today's Government response to the land-based consultation is good news for Rank. Providing the legislation is on the statute books by recess in late July, we are looking forward to improving the customer proposition in our venues with a roadmap of investments and improvements in the months and years that follow. The legislative modernisations cannot come a moment too soon, so we are pleased with the progress contained in today's announcement."

"Accumulating book" - what does that mean?
Accumulating book - there will be a takeover.
A huge 1573990 shares trade today that looks like a buy has just showed up? Price has held up well last week or so. Doesn't look like i'll get to buy any back at a lower level, at the moment at least.

Will buy any dips - nice low average here after the recent moves up from the lows.
No one seems to understand the massive upside when they can start trading with their new machines in Mecca sites from September
Deutsche Bank starts Rank Group with 'buy' - price target 110 pence. Are fortunes changing? 🤞

Hold a shedload of these and a move from by 35% that could drop 20p for no reason creates opportunities. I trade my position most days and trim at these levels and after adding a lot at mid 60s have been taking some off the table. Expecting £1+ near term, however nothing goes straight up.
Just trimmed another 4000 shares. Hoping I get them back sometime later but no idea really. SP unusually strong this week, so holding some just in case there is some corporate stuff on it's way, in terms of someone stake building though turnover has dropped since the big blocks that went through a few days ago.
The only negative here is that there is a majority shareholder, who can control everything though I haven't let that dissuade me buying and would prefer they would sell a substantial stake to a partner or similar and drop well below 50%.
Mary, the actual spread is less than .025p, though there was a 2p spread about 20 minutes ago, even though quoted spread was as you said 7p, not sure why but historically always the same but usually narrows at some point during trading day(A trades pay the spread price), out of interest are you adding or trimming, or neither Mary.
94.6p on the ask
MMs not taking any chances with a 7p spread on an 88p share !!!!!
Something for the weekend?
Seems to be on a roll and not wanting to be short over the weekend.

"Would the majority shareholder table a bid for the whole company?"
Yes but what would be even better is if they say offered to unlock and sell, say 20-30% to the city because that would certainly be at far higher levels. I think it's that majority control that keeps the stock too cheap and many fund managers away.
Always a possibility the big shareholder is equally prepared to offer all their 60% at the right price to a suitor.
Spread looks high this morning.
The trade yesterday(whether a buy or a sell)was for 5% of Rank shares, today we have Guoline increasing by 3%, where did the other 2%(give or take)go, more to come I think.
It’s looking more and more likely but only time will tell
Probably wants the whole 🎂.
Would the majority shareholder table a bid for the whole company?

Don’t think there will be a bid anytime soon they have been doing this a few times now buying low of fed up holders so don’t be surprised to see it drift down again.Been in and out of these a few times but zero holding atm.

Bid alert
Must be getting so close to an announcement - surprised no RNS this am & yet the SP is up again.
DYOR
Sorry probably wrong I just looked at total sold figure on advfn. Think it's included the 23 as buy, sell, buy and totalled it x 3.
I can only see the 23m shares trade at 71p

Rank has a Q3 trading statement due to be published on 18 April:
https://www.rank.com/en/investors/financial-calendar.html#category1
Always that way but when it drops and narrow eg 66/72 to 66 67 - BLIND buy
when it rises 72/78 to 76/81 BLIND trim and hopefully within the spread
NOT advice.
Just keep averaging down here and holding for the big BONANZA !!!
£1 party then 130p then £2 - coming at some point IMHO
Someone testing what this is gunna take
Let’s talk 100
Mary why is the spread so bad
Looks good This
Rns due
It just traded at 77p.
Could the majority shareholder with around 60% of Rank buyout the rest and take it private?

These will go up after end year results. Not many buys or sells as everyone is just waiting for the good news. Which will happen soon. So it's a hold'em not a fold'em.

Any ideas?

I think one of the problems with this share is the spread, it can appear as much as 5p at times, but when you get a quote it is less than 1p. SUPERSONICTRADER The Casino always wins, but agree with you on the buying opportunity at this price.
The way they are ripping off there customers I'd say they will have bumper profits. Should be at least a pound a share. It won't be long this will pop. And you will never get this price again . So load up now.
I do not know the reason for the recent pressure on the share price, but it is a good entry point in my opinion, and for the last two hours of trading today the spread was as good as it gets with this share, it is already my biggest holding, and I will keep adding to my holdings in Rank at the current valuation.
A better place since last year if the TU was anything to go by.
One day we willl be millionaires Rodders.
Thanks Mary.
I di remember reading that last week, but couldn't fathom where exactly we are right now in relation to those covenants.
And when an announcement of a dividend might be forthcoming.

In the ISA of the accounts, pop, add & trim or trim and add.
Plenty of ways to lose your blouse.
The 16:20 trade sure enough was an AT trade, gosh MaryBr190 that is a lovely sum to be holding in Rank, well done.
Also the AT trades seem to adhere to the spread prices as has happened with 16:20 share sale just now, again I do not know why, but guaranteed that 16:20 trade will be an AT trade.(find out in 15 mins)
Even tried a sell of 100k shares from an account and got the full offer 69.53 / sometimes 68p but obviously not dumping other than the traders
Yes you could add at 65 & 66p early and get over 69.53 in a trade - tomorrow who knows - due a rerate.
Anyone know the restrictions on paying dividends?
They refer to "expect to restart very soon" and " as soon as circumstances allow"
I can't find what these circumstances are.
I've seen restrictions on debt covenants referring to 3 x debt to ebitda and 3 x ebitda to interest payments.

Great entry 👌
Rank announce the possible closure of another one of their bingo sites Mecca Stoke. This comes on the back of the announcement last month of the possibility of their Mecca site in Dundee closing. Perhaps they are relying too much on what the white paper for slot machines will bring. I fear more of their bingo sites will follow

Apart from all the points you said
There are mostly buy trades going through and a lot of off market buying including 9million bought
The price does not move
I just told get it
I agree. Market cap under £350m is too low. Deserves to be priced higher, especially after an extremely encouraging half-year report. Around this time last year there were director buys at over 90p.
Its really odd

One to add for a fll recovery in 2024 - surprised that the £4,000,000 x 2 share purchases have not been picked up by others/ Still adding at these levels.
Are we expecting an rns today to show the reason for the large purchases?
Yes noticed that after 1630 11m volume compared to the usual 20k to 100k shares.
On open market
This will really move tomo

Rank Group PLC, up 3.0% at 72.50p, 12-month range 60.40p-107.60p. The gambling company reports its results for the six months ended December 31. It reports revenue of GBP362.6 million up from GBP338.9 million a year earlier. Rank swings to a pretax profit of GBP10.4 million from a loss of GBP109.1 million. Looking ahead, Rank expects the challenging economic environment to remain, however it remains "positive about the future" and expects like-for-like operating profit for the year to be in line with company expectations. "The board has not proposed an interim dividend but expects to recommence dividend payments as soon as circumstances permit," it adds.
