Quote - "On a strange plus side……..if the whole sector is hitting tremendous headwinds and are all posting similar results then the operating loss from Royal Mail shows the weakness sector as a whole rather than specifically just this business."
One thing Royal Mail has going for it is that we deliver letters as well as parcels. Letters were very quiet during the summer but have gone mad in September. We have posties that have only known pandemic ways of working and they're wondering what's going on as they've never seen things like this. Christmas advertising has started, we had two Christmas door to door leaflets this week.
Luckily we're not a parcels business. Of course letters also decline during recessions but it's a handy back up to keep the pounds flowing in.
Can anyone explain why online retail and the associated parcel delivery services now seem to be getting absolutely slaughtered, compared to High Street bricks n mortar retailers which just seem to be bumbling along with seemingly no current bad news or future forecasts of doom and despair?
Fedex futures down 20%. Almost certainly related.
Scamp "hope he has the b@lls to make the unpopular decision...and then take all the massive amount of flak that will surely go with it".
These people don't think like you and me. A bit of flak is foreplay to these guys and that includes Thompson, Williams et al....
Big slide coming to sub £2.
regarding the fortunes of Royal Mail's near future share price right now at this present moment...Kretinsky.
The rest is just a side-show.
In other words: it rests just solely on the shoulders of one man. And that 'one man' is not Kretinsky.
Hope he has the b@lls to make the unpopular decision...and then take all the massive amount of flak that will surely go with it.
still might fall further yet though. Will be buying again if it does...but will leave it a few more days just to see how things start panning out.
Kretinsky will know by the end of next week, at the very latest, the Secretary of State's decision regarding increasing his present holding or not.
Things are starting to look very interesting indeed.
Cut and paste from MarketWatch:-
‘ Shares of European delivery firms skidded Friday morning after a profit warning from FedEx FDX, -0.07%. Royal Mail RMG, -11.48% shares skidded 10% in London, while DHL owner Deutsche Post DPW, -6.97% stock slid 7% in Frankfurt. FedEx blamed "macroeconomic weakness" in Asia and "service challenges" in Europe for a $500 million revenue shortfall in these regions.’
Looks like Marshall Wace are back in the game. Shorts back up to 2.68%.
The worst performing stock in the FTSE 250 was Royal Mail, slumping 8.9% after a downgrade to 'neutral' from 'overweight' at JPMorgan.
AngerSharkz, I would imagine that the next dividend will be looking pretty good value at these prices? At 220p that would be a 6% return.
They're not scrapping stamps. They're changing them. New ones have a barcode on them. thi swas announced at the beginning of the year and they're now in circulation. You have until January 31st to use the old style stamps or you can exchange them.

And now of course we'll have new stamps with Charles on them at a time to be announced.
FedEx news and UK sales figures, including online, worse than expected.
Teslo, Royal Mail have issued new barcoded stamps and are phasing out older style NVI stamps since March 2022. The older style stamps can be swapped out for new style stamps.

On reflection Fed EX news is probably the correct conclusion.
Crazy to think this could hit the 2019-2020 levels again.
I am holding and in for the long-term now and am looking to double-up.
Good Luck all.
My last post until I sell.
Typo " royal mail " in google and then press news.
Type Royal Main into google then press news, and there are a few articles about the current stamp being scrapped and replaced.
I have decided to just sit on these now for the next year to 18 months rather than trade, simply because I don't want to miss the eventual upward move.
Very happy with my average and this will probably be my last post here for a while, well at least until I see.
I am looking to double up from this level.
Enjoy and good luck all.
I've doubled down now to hold and forget...
2.20 hit I have loaded up now.
Will probably be sitting on these for a while and will not return until I sell.
Have a good weekend all.
Will load up sub @220 if it gets that far.
Back in @226
Stamp's being scrapped causing the drop.

Sell off logistics to A GOOD LOGISTICS COMPANY and watch them butcher undeedruns.
