Share option result, how many that elected to take shares were sucessful? anybody know.
Thought I'd have a look back at Rexam board. I got out in Jan. Fed up of wailing for Ball action. Could have got higher sp if still in - but that's investing. Agree with Iguana "Whats going on"?? Regards to Drifty if you still have a peep on here from time to time. Good luck to all stillinvested - REX served me very well over more than 25 years. NB
Any further views on which option of the latest offer to go for?
Apologies for board hopping but- The petition is going quite well; ~5150 signatures so far. Although it really needs a turbo boost. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/112044/sponsors/frRbCOsOLO6QqIN82UOX This petition was stalled in parliament since 12th Aug 15; finally green lit on 12th feb 2016. The FCA don't even reply on the matter, now is your chance to have your say. If you hate seeing buys reported as sells etc!!!!!! Has already been sent to Martin Lewis, Daily Mail, Moneyweek & Watchdog. My local MP supported this petition by writing to the petitions committee to help un-stall it. There’s 650 MP’s in Westminster, So have you written to your MP? 649 to go! If this petition doesn’t reach 10,000; then imo we might as well have not bothered as it will almost certainly be filed B1N; @ 10,000 the government should respond. We are currently getting approx. 100 new signatures a week, but need 3x that amount to reach the target with only 15 weeks to go. So – If you haven’t yet signed or indeed have but haven’t passed it on to others, then now’s the time to do so. If each person who has signed can get just one other person to sign then we will double the total immediately. I have posted to all aim listed gas n oilies, currently doing the footsy 100. But I can only do so much to push this. Really need you guys & gals to help. Thanks to all who have signed so far.
Happy New year to you, and hope your good decision making continues... I have parked some of proceeds into more MYI, great fund offering global investments and good dividend ( above normal ) and trades at roughly 4% to NAV. Last time it did was back in 2008, which shows something... I have also bought some JEMI another investment trust similar to MYI but more biased to US, which I believe to be a good decision due to them having the strongest economy, but more risk with that collossal deficit to overcome... My email is auzscottgoldie@gmail.com if you want to continue the share conversation in more depth. My heaviest holdings now are MYI, ULVR, DGE, GHSBC, MUT and GS near 10-12%. I have started to dabble in property and have 1 flat, and working on a 1910 victorian house atm.
'Mornin & a belated "Happy New Year" - To all listening! Drifty and I seem to have this board to ourselves at the moment. Finally out of REX (We'll have to fin another place to talk - any suggestions?) I presume REX will vanish when merger/TO goes through. Like Mr "D" I've been in REX for some 20 years. "Parked" some of proceeds in M&S (as previously suggested) and also BARC ( The NAV is well above SP at present) I'll just wait & see.. Hope to be able to keep in touch. On a social note - It would be nice to re visit Outback (Very fond memories) Planning to visit Lesser Antilles later this month. I'm retired from "Professional" travelling now! Best Wishes. NB
Hi NB, Good luck with the sale of your holding in REX. Anaylsts predict it could be agreed week prior to Jan22. Iv held REX I believe since 2001 (314.65p). I'm reinvesting proceeds into two funds MYI & STS/CTY, & hopefully rebuy JNJ or GILD later in April/May...that's the plan. Have you plans of what your doing with it? Maybe another extented visit to the 'Outback'...haha I never got the chance to go to Philips Islands, but Gold Coast, went back to see who was living in our house at the coast 'Aspendale', and Adelaide. Its actually cheaper to go now with FX for us $2-£1...
Christmas Eve - and all's well.(?) I just did some "sums". Ball s p seems to vary in range $68-72. Dollar worth abt 66p Gives a value for the takeover of somewhere near your remark of 628. My broker says I should be able to sell any residual Ball shares for my usual 1% comm. So I'm still holding for the time being. Like you I'm in SBRY & TSCO - maybe come good again one day. Memories of Melbourne include Philip Island and Ballarat. Had nice lady friend in Bondi (Sydney). Hope you have a good Christmas. Regs.... NB
The 'A' before the £ is something that seems to be a mobile error after I hit post on my mobile, like is the fact all my posts after 1st Dec 2015 I can't see but you. Maybe LSE has something against me...lol I'm looking to put my funds along with that of GNK, and IMT into an I.T (MYI ( which I already own), or STS. Both good big and small, have good dividends and diversified trusts. I own both SBRY, TSCO in the supermarket sector. As you mention M&S, suspect the mild winter is going to hit the sales again on there winter range of clothing...
Hi, That's fine.. No one really puts there first name down.. I have my phone and have been money managing more of late due to the next bigger pullback ...tick tock tick ... When is it going to fall? I'm actually an Aussie citizen, born down under on the shores of Melbourne after Xmas...only stayed there for 2 yrs. Iv been back for a yr, regret coming back! I now have 40 different stocks, in both FTSE100/250,FTSE AIM, NYSE. my big spinner in AIM are REM & AMC. Talk soon! Merry Xmas...
Mornin' Driftking, Thanks for info. Hope my shortening of yr name is OK. I missed the high point of over 600p the other day. - Can't spend all my time at a computer. Must ring my broker for any info he might have - else - I'll try to get out at abt 600 if I can. My 1200 shares will yield something close to the figure you mentioned. Although the two 'AA's in front of your "£" may suggest Aussie Dollars ???. I was based Sydney and Melbourne for a couple of years in the 70's Ideas..... 1. If you are a bit of a gambler you might like to think about Sirius Minerals (SXX). maybe £12-1500. Could be BIG returns within 3 years. I'm already in and just biding my time . Plenty of chat on their BB. 2. A safe(ish) hole for short term (up to 12 mths) IMO is good old M&S They'll surely come back to 500p So 10% or so in a year may be worth it. 3. Same sort of thinking ---GLAXO?? Hope you have a Happy Christmas. ATB Keep in touch?? NB
Hi Naval officer, I sold three stocks this afternoon in this weird Santa rally. IMT, REX, and GNK. I made roughly 95% on REX before allthe dividends Inc (591p), IMT(3492p), GNK(951p). The deal is cash (407p) and 0.04568 of new share. I think I may have mistyped the 610p badly ..lol ATB... It's where to put the £7500from here ... I'm thinking Siemens, or more MYI? What are you doing with proceeds..?
'Morning Mr Drifty, Back again after some travels. I see SP is now generally DRIFTING up. Nice. Can you tell me where the suggested price of 628p has come from? I had thought the T/O had been priced at 610p. I can't remember having seen any more info about how the consideration may be made up (how much cash and how many Ball shares). Was this included in the details available when the T/O was first announced?? 12 months or more ago! Any info will be greatly appreciated. Hope that you get what you are aiming for re SP before "T/O DAY". Good Luck. N B
If the merger is set at 628p or so. What price would the SP go to based on the cash and stock option for deal. I'm thinking 600p just of the top of my head...
Deadline for merger extended until 22/1/16...
Dec 23rd is the deadline for the BALL merger, so I'd keep all eyes n ears open as much as possible... Anything can happen, especially with s/markets volatility if your not accepting deal, which I'm not, so I'd be lOOking at 555-560p to sell and move on. 628p is 15% premium to todays price... Or so.
Something we've been to see in black and white before which will help towards the santa rally... 580-585p and I'm out... DEC 23 -- U.S. drinks can maker Ball Corp to acquire British rival Rexam Plc (notified June 15/deadline extended for the second time to Dec. 23 from Dec. 9) JAN 13 -- U.S. packages delivery company FedEx to acquire Dutch peer TNT (notified July /deadline extended to Jan. 13 from Dec. 8 after the companies asked for more time)

Thanks Drifty, Like you I don't particularly want to hold Ball shares or stock. Often in the past in take-overs like this there has been an option to immediately sell the foreign shares as part of the " process ". The major part of the consideration is in cash so I imagine/hope that small shareholders ending up with a "rump" of a tiny holding in Ball might be offered such an option.. G L. NB
Regarding the BALL takeover, it will be completed in 1st quarter of 2016. Deadline by EU commision to ratify the merger is 25th November. So, I think it will be start of 2016 that it should hopefully go through. Though with BALL and REX together it would make them the biggest, thus this would present competition issues. This is why its taking longer... http://www.streetinsider.com/dr/news.php?id=10735162 . Though I will be a seller as I don't want to hold BALL stock.
Can anyone remind me please when the takeover is expected to happen? Been off for a bit. Like many others I'v been a holder of REX for years (pre 2000)!. If T?O is early 2016 and at abt 610p then there's a nice little profit going on current price of 521p. All the best to other small shareholders. NB
My view personal view is that Rexam ,who have invested very heavily in new plants ,are going "cheap" to BALL but I can see the reasons for doing so ( mostly being the crazy price of aluminium last year). My current thinking is that I will hold out until closer to the deal being finalised as sp looks to have double- bottomed yesterday at 536 p but Shorts were operating from about 560 p so expect sp to be rangebound for a while yet. It may be that I end up with cash and BALL shares which do not think is a problem medium term. I ought to add ,as a footnote, that I had the privilege of watching Bowater fatten up Builders Merchants ( that they had acquired in the 1980s)and then sell " lock, stock and barrel" when the market peaked but ,if anything, this appears to be the opposite.
Are you holding out for the deal, or going to sell if it trades higher in 560-570p range. I think I might and move money to aother industrial stock or pharma... Iv held REX since 2003 I believe from records after they split from Bunzl ?
REX still at about a 10% discount by my calculations this morning ( allowing for interim div of around 6p) 610 p
