Just been re-reading over Ball Corp offer of 628p ( 407p in cash and 0.04568 of new share for Rexam.) http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-02-19/ball-corp-agrees-to-buy-can-maker-rexam-for-6-8-billion Wonder if most would sell, or hold till deal. So far my main broker says he will contact e before to advise of selling. I never actually asked what he meant by that back in Feb...? Would probably re-invest into BABCOCK..
Wednesday close based on BLL price makes deal worth about 610 p a share ( excludes interim dividend) so 540 p looks reasonable value
Interesting article " Bid for Rexam sparks fears over loss of UK expertise" and today REX traded towards 583 p with Ball Corporation at US $ 70.43 giving ( excluding dividends) a value circa 624 p
between 587 p and 622 p giving a mean of 605 p and representing an 8 % profit to current sp without including the 11.9 p dividend and an interim dividend of around 6 p but no doubt the boys in " the City" will try their best to shake you OUT!
Quite simply a "Buy" is the value of a certain share, equity etc has reached value ,i e Apple at all time highs are not a buy,but should they drop a 200 points they would or maybe be a buy , i have phrased it simple to make a point , always do your own research and do not rely on others, many think they know value ,i have got some right and some wrong, most i have got wrong was listening to others either amateur or professional .
What does that mean when it's a buy? Anyone know?
Good comment. About time it ticked up to higher 500s Holding all the way to 610p then? Or longer as Ball's sp has ticked up which values Rexam above 610p.
Just read my portfolio review from my broker. He coMments that the REXAM BALL is very unlikely to have go ahead until end of March. Though he did say ( which I haven't had time to call and question ) what he means by ".I will tell you when to seLl the shares." part.
Thanks for that info, but iv also just read that Moody's credit agency has downgraded their rating to BA+ junk. I need to look into more about debt levels of BALL.
poor yield but BALL is not just a CAN company ...PE is around 22 and market cap around $ 10 billion Think growth in sp more likely once they have issued more shares Go xd 30/4 paying 11.9 p per share
Just a bit of info. BALL only offers a div yield of 0.75% to 3.6% that REXAM offers. Its cash or I run! I own 2253shares since 1990's. Think I'll top up my AZN holding.
Accept offer and cash in on Questor's Rexam buy tip: Shares in the drinks can maker Rexam [LON:REX] rose 5pc last week after it recommended investors accept a 628p offer from U.S. rival Ball. Questor would agree with the board of Directors and take the cash and run. The deal comes at a near 40pc premium to the 448p share price before news of the talks was leaked in early February. And there is no guarantee that the company would be able to offer investors a similar return during the year ahead. The company was also hit last year as all three of the major currencies it trades in, the U.S. dollar, Euro and Russian rouble, fell against sterling, which impacted reported results. Finally, in the highly competitive markets in which Rexam operates, prices for cans were falling. The shares were a classic value pick trading on a reasonable earnings multiple of about 13 times, falling to 12 times and offering a decent dividend yield of 3.3pc. In the absence of this deal the market consensus was for profits and earnings per share to go sideways for the next two years. Investors wouldn’t necessarily lose anything if the deal falls through. That said, Investors are now being offered a chance to cash out while also holding Ball shares if they want further benefits. Questor thinks that is the best of both worlds, and we agree with the board and would accept the offer. Rexam at 565.0p Questor Says ‘Accept Offer’.
Cheers... Off now until Weds mate, be lucky... ATB
Another Hols is due to you this year...imo
got any clues as what action to take? I don't want Ball shares, so I assume this means I'll be able to sell them immediately on issue? Does anyone else think a competing bid will appear?
With an indicative value of 628 pence per Rexam Ordinary Share there should be a further jump once the USA opens this afternoon.
REXAM RECOMMENDS SWEETENED OFFER FROM BALL The FTSE 250 can maker has told investors they should accept a £4.4bn takeover bid from US rival Ball Corporation. Rexam boss Graham Chipchase said the pair's "shared culture of manufacturing excellence and continued innovation" would "create a truly global platform to deliver 'best in class' service to customers
equivalent to 628 p announce final dividend of 11.9 p offer consists of 407p cash per share and 0.04568 Ball Corporation shares( !?) Simple fraction not!!
Interesting news on Reuters. If true it will be interesting watching the sp tomorrow in addition to the results.
74.39 $ closed 17/2 REXAM results Thursday
Today BLL trading around $ 70 and REX went to 511 p and I guess ,at that price,US buyers will see a good profit Rexam closed at around 518 p tonight...it may be that a strategy of buying around 511 in the late morning and selling on the afternoon could yield a very quick profit over the coming weeks....that said,Barclays combination of Long and Short positions in the recent RNS ,will take a better man than I...
Rexam set to back £4.3bn takeover bid CITY A.M.-2 hours ago REXAM'S board is keen to finalise a £4.3bn buyout offer from rival can-maker ... Rexam is already focused on cutting costs and building scale, ...
Boss of British drinks-can giant Rexam stands to pocket £10million windfall if offer by U.S. rival Ball goes ahead: The Boss of British can maker Rexam stands to pocket in excess of £10million if the planned sale to U.S. rival Ball goes ahead.
Ball !! have until beginning of March to make a formal bid ....Norm
forgive the stupid question, but if there is a bid on the table for 610, why is the share price lower?
