Some societies regard capitalism as the devils work, lol . Wasn't quite meaning it in that sense when I mentioned an omen . ......Should / could be an interesting day tomorrow if the market hasn't already allowed for it .
A few facts on the Dow Jones Index. The chances of the DOW rising in 2016 have no bearing on what happened the previous year or any other year for that matter. From previous data collated since 1896 the DOW has a 66.1% chance in favour of rising next year. Some facts:- 1. The chances of the DOW rising in any year (since 1896) is 66% in favour. 2. When the DOW has risen more than 20% in the previous year the chance of a rise the next year is 66% in favour. 3. When the DOW has dropped the previous year the chances of a rise the next year is 65% in favour. 4. When the DOW has risen the previous year the chances of a rise the next year is 67% in favour. Doesn't matter what analyst are predicting these are the facts from previous history. JEM.
Yes, the Omen you could right... I think it was a Gregory Peck film.. CNBC USA channel pundit mention there is plenty of money on the sidelines to be invested. May get a Xmas rally yet between now and the NewYear. The Dow is up 206 points at the moment .. As I posted yesterday a lot going on in the world and next year could well very interesting for many reasons and possible outcomes.. And those that like evened numbered years 2016 is in their favour... See what tomorrow brings... Take each day as it come now... Get back is above the 300p mark is the first hurdle..
Nice little blip up today..........maybe it is an omen . Lol
Let's hope so... Omens come in many forms.. We are back to that patience is needed mode more than ever at the moment.. . This said we appear to be in troubled times with terrorism and immigration and if the interest in the UK leaving the Europe community and a possible interest rise in the UK next year .. A lot of changes could make 2016 a interesting if not a different year.. Keep the thoughts and debates going folks.. ATB
Good to have you back......beginning to think you were off on a world cruise . Feels like old times , you and the Traveller popping up . Maybe it's an omen for a rise in the SP , lol.
Thanks..busy times for me last 2 months..
Welcolme back.
Hi all... Agree with your last post jings to traveller ... Maybe still a chance of a Xmas rally of some sort ..see if a US rate rise this week happens, it might start to gee things up.. and open up a hopefully better 2016.. As we all know most 2 years in a row are not alike.. Good luck everyone...
Hi mate , good to see you , hope all is well in Kirkie . ....The market has been dropping for months now , Global slowdown , oil price , China etc ., will it continue to adversely affect the SP , probably , question is how much , I wouldn't want to put a figure on it . Cash is a good place to be at the moment but you've maybe left it a bit late. Unless you need the cash you might be as well just waiting it out or depending on the size of your holding cash in half . Hedge your bets so to speak ..... Whatever you do ! Hope it works out for you . ATB
No idea what happened , IPad acting up , lol.
407p eh , this is Osborne not McEwan ,...... take out all the fees and charges and he can more or less justify a breakeven price of 407p as opposed to the 501p that we , the tax payer , actually paid for them . He's desperate to get these off the balance sheet , if he can spin a price of 407p and get away with it , he!'ll do it . More gravy on the city's Christmas turkey .

Not worth listening to..Ugh. I assume most on here are aware that HMG need to sell at 407p to break even..so the presenter said.
The interview is at 4.30 pm...5 minutes.
Ross Mcewan is about to be interviewd on Bloomberg and the presenter said that he'll state that the bank will be back in profit in....er....4 years. If anyone is reading this at 4.18 you'll catch the interview as they're talking about US politics at the moment...re. Trump. I watch it via a Sky box. Channel 502
I have no idea. The problem is that it defies all kinds of logic or experience. RBS is a bit like a replacement bus service: most people who are on it are there begrudgingly, knowing that they thought they paid for an experience that should feel much nicer and should get them to where they are going much more quickly without having to go up blind alleys or down cul de sacs. Once on the bus, they find out that the driver has been ripping passengers and other road users off and that the bus is frequently pulled over for infractions of the law.
After 2 years trading i was up quite a bit of money but this drop has taken a massive chunk out of it. Still up 2500 pounds at this price. Question really follows on from brighters123. Should i cash in just now and hope that the drop continues to enable buy in with the result of holding more shares? Your thoughts please, as I have in the past received extremely good points from others on here. my thanks guys n gal
Where do you see the bottom on this share? And what you prediction for next year mate
it is now back to the long waiting game for me.
Just read my last post. Serves me right for writing without caffeine. I meant to say that prices might rise temporarily before returning to the usual scheme of things.
Hard to say. Perhaps temporarily. Then RBS's own intrinsic, maudlin gravity will kick in and we'll be back to normal.
