As "somebody " said the only certainty is uncertainty. Lol
The U.S. Dow ended down 250 points Not a good Omen for the UK opening tomorrow...
Especially if you started with a full one. US didn't do us any favours , been a reasonable few days so maybe tomorrow , wasn't far off today .
A half empty Ardbeg is of more interest. The banks seem to be getting the best of it today though 300 still seems a distance.
Might even hit 300p today if we get a boost from the US . .......that positive enough ?
What IPO. ?
Just a wee note of caution, didn't want to disappoint you , lol.
Half empty! You started already?
Positive reaction at the moment to USA rate increase .... all banks appear up today .. Could be the start needed for any Xmas rally... Short trading week next week ..finish early next Thursday. May the Force be with us for next year... ATB
US quarter % is specific to US circs and growth in particular, I think. UK and £ does not seem to be on a parallel economic course for a change. The price reaction In RBS is probably more to do with W&G sale process starting and stated interest from parties in addition to IPO option. Room for more rises before the holiday and in the run up to results in Feb.
Aye , I know ....Half empty as usual , lol.
Morning ...in the spirit of. Christmas .I was going to post , humbug , lol. Might be a bit too early to tell how this will pan out . The oil price. , one of the main reasons for the fall in share prices , dropped again . Still a number of economists who think this may have been a risky move by Yellen , hopefully they're wrong.
"300 here we come" - it seems like only yesterday we were enjoying 400 and expecting so much more. Should hit the 300 tomorrow and, who knows, maybe the World markets will all react. More interested in Killie now that I see The Traveller back, good to see you H.
US Federal Reserve raises interest rates by 0.25%, its first increase since 2006. lets see what Lady Yellen has to say in conference
Another nice little tick up .........300p here we come ?
It is simply a feeling, but it seems like everything is gradually moving upwards in anticipation of the Fed announcement. However, my portfolio is full of real dogs and unfortunately, I've had this feeling before.. 'as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.'
Fingers crossed. GL
oops 3.62
Decided to just sit this out............... Cheers guys Average 6.62
So far this year the Dow is up slightly , not as much as 20% though, so still a 2 in 3 chance it could rise next year . However , as it's only slightly up it could still drop by year end which would mean of course a 2 in 3 chance of a rise next year but should it take off in the next couple of weeks , unlikely I grant you , it could go higher than a 20% rise , in which case we can expect a 2in 3 chance of a rise next year .Or to put it another way there's a 33.3 % chance of a drop next year . ...............statistics , don't ya just luv 'em.
Heh heh. So let me see if I have this right: If the DOW drops in one year, the chances of a rise the next year are about 2 in 3. If it rises, the chances of a rise the next year are about 2 in 3, and if it rises by more than 20% in one year, the chances of a rise the next year are 2 in 3. I guess the absolute, crucial, burning question is 'has the DOW dropped or risen this year?'
Regarding your Omen point I know what you where getting at.. I just made me think of the film of the same name.. But then maybe the Devil has been at work on the RBS shares the past 10 months... That would be a spooky Omen. See how the SP finish's tomorrow .. and if the Fed put up their rate before the UK market closes
The trouble is Predicting one thing ... Is hard enough if not impossible. Predicting Based on something else is even harder... .facts of past history is no guarantee of predicting the future as circumstances constantly change.. Analysts who predict are often unreliable ... As I have said before uncertainty is the only certainty Thanks for the Interesting post about the past facts ......... strange how all the facts you posted are referred to a 60 something % ... ATB..
Yes, I had just saw one or two posters had mentioned 2016 and as the fate of the FTSE to a large extent is linked to the performance of the Dow. Just thought it might interest to one or two here, nothing sinister. JEM.
Very interesting ???......Care to explain why you posted it .
