Uk and Europes largest short previously un-declared until last week by Asia Research & Capital Management and then stories such as https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2019/12/14/lenders-plot-break-up-premier-oil-loans-loom/ possibly to spook investors and back in January similar spook story back in January https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2019/01/13/premier-oil-mulls-15bn-cash-call-buy-chevron-assets/
Surely the story about Premier oil should be about how a hedge fund does not declare a short for such a long period, How well premier oil is by reducing its debt, and the likely hood of the short getting its timing wrong.... remember VW https://ftalphaville.ft.com/2018/10/31/1540962002000/The-day-Volkswagen-briefly-conquered-the-world/
Lets have a worthy story....... Europe's largest short ever !!!
Ok the sp may wilt on Monday, but IMO our HKong friends couldn’t have signalled more clearly that they are In one mega mess. Anyone who knows pmo must be smiling at amrc raising of the white flag. They are toast, maybe not next week, but the heat must be burning their toes.
The short must now be costing them more than the interest they are getting on the loans. If this latest bit of misinformation doesn’t work then surely at some stage they will have to reduce such a huge short no matter what the PMO share price is. They are hoping their newspaper friends can help get the PMO share price back to the 80’s but if they can’t and it keeps going up based on good fundamentals ? Agree with a lot of posters that this smacks of desperation by our HK friends. Hope they get well and truly ******
ARMC might be big, but the market is bigger.
The short is not new news for PMO. I'm sure they are well in top of their refinancing risks. Remember they didn't buckle in July to offer equity - they not going to n now with Zama sale and SL divestment announced.
Any fall on Monday will be short term. Thus us the last chance for shorts to close before Zama news.
I think Monday afternoon we will be nearer £1 if Brent plays balk.
