Menzies Aviation wins engineering contract with LATAM Airlines
05/09/22 Share
Menzies Aviation, the global aviation logistics specialist, announces it has secured its first engineering contract in Australia with long term customer, LATAM Airlines. The agreement will see Menzies provide a full suite of engineering services to LATAM at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) and Auckland International Airport (AKL).
LATAM will operate up to 7 flights a week in Sydney and 14 flights a week in Auckland and this contract win marks the first piece of engineering business with LATAM across the entire Menzies Aviation network.
Menzies already provides engineering services for a number of other domestic and international, narrow and wide body airlines at Macau International Airport (MFM), Auckland International Airport (AKL), Christchurch Airport (CHC), Wellington Airport (WLG) and Hamilton Airport (HLZ). However, this contract is a significant win for Menzies as it plans to grow its engineering services throughout Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asia. Menzies will be expanding engineering services to Queenstown Airport (ZQN) by the end of 2022.
Alistair Reid, Executive Vice President Oceania, South-East Asia and China – Menzies Aviation said: “We are thrilled to announce our latest contract win with LATAM Airlines. We have built a strong relationship with the airline in Latin America, which has assisted with the growth of the partnership through this extension in Australia and New Zealand. Not only does this contract mark a significant expansion of our services for LATAM but introduces our engineering offering to Australia. This milestone paves the way for the growth of our engineering capability across the region in the coming years.”

Agility Completes £763 Million Acquisition of Menzies Aviation
04/08/22 Share
Agility, a supply chain services, infrastructure and innovation company, announced that it has finalized its acquisition of UK-based John Menzies PLC and will combine the business with its National Aviation Services (NAS) business to create a world leader in aviation services in 58 countries.
Once integrated, the combined company will operate as Menzies Aviation and will be the world’s largest aviation services company by number of countries and second largest by number of airports served.
Operating as Menzies Aviation, the combined company will provide air cargo services, fuel services and ground services at airports on six continents. Combined revenues of Menzies and NAS exceeded $1.5 billion in 2021. The new company will have approximately 35,000 employees and operations at 254 airports in 58 countries, handling 600k aircraft turns, 2 million tonnes of air cargo and 2.5 million fuelling turns per year.
“Menzies and NAS will create the world leader in aviation services,” said Hassan El-Houry, who becomes Chairman of the combined company, having previously held the role of NAS CEO.
“We will have the scale and resources to expand and grow as the industry recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic. Commercial aviation is a key engine of global economic growth, and our customers need partners they can count on as flight volumes return.”
The company’s customers will include Air Canada, Air China, Air France-KLM, America Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, EasyJet, Emirates, Ethiopian, Fly Dubai, Frontier Airlines, IAG, Jazeera, Qantas Group, Qatar Airways, Southwest, Turkish, United Airlines, West Jet and Wizz Air.
“With the combination of Menzies and NAS, our customers will receive world-class service, expanded product offerings, and the industry’s best safety practices at airports on six continents,” said Menzies Aviation CEO Philipp Joeinig, who will be CEO of the combined company. “Agility’s backing gives us the resources to provide innovative solutions for growing and forward-thinking customers, and to develop our talent, technology, and sustainability; critical factors for our future success. It also means we are well-positioned to support our customers in tackling supply chain challenges and labour shortages.”
Agility Vice Chairman Tarek Sultan said, “This is a new chapter for Agility, Menzies, and NAS. By acquiring Menzies and combining it with NAS, Agility has the opportunity to unlock greater value in both. Agility has a strong track record of sustainable and responsible growth over the last two decades, driven both organically and through mergers and acquisitions, and this latest deal is part of our strategy to further accelerate that growth. For Agility, this deal creates the largest owned and operated – “controlled” – business in Agility’s portfolio by revenue, headcount, and global presence.

Menzies Aviation joins global mission to decarbonise aviation
21/07/22 Fuelling Sustainability Share
Menzies Aviation, the global aviation logistics specialist, has joined the Mission Possible Partnership (MPP), an alliance of climate leaders focused on decarbonising some of the world’s highest-emitting industries.
Global aviation is currently responsible for about 3% of total global, anthropogenic CO2 emissions – having seen an increase by over a third between 2010 and 2019 alone. If aviation were unmitigated, it could be responsible for an even greater proportion of global emissions by 2050.
In collaboration with the Clean Skies for Tomorrow coalition, the MPP has published a new Aviation Transition Strategy that has been endorsed by over 60 aviation leaders, setting out a global strategy to achieve net-zero aviation by 2050.
The new report, “Making Net-Zero Aviation possible: An industry-backed, 1.5°C aligned Transition Strategy”, provides a series of actionable steps to be taken over the next decade to secure a transition towards carbon-neutral flying and deliver the goals of the Paris Agreement. Actions include drastically improving fuel efficiency gains of aircraft, the rapid roll out of Sustainable Aviation Fuel and market entry of hydrogen, battery-electric or hybrid powered aircraft.
Menzies, which provides ground, fuel and air cargo services is the first aviation services business to sign the global strategy, reflecting the company’s commitment to its AllIn sustainability strategy. Announced last year, All In encapsulates Menzies plan for making a positive difference to guarantee a fair and sustainable future, notably its ambition to be carbon-neutral by 2033.
Menzies Aviation wins new business in Indonesia & China
28/06/22 Cargo Ground Handling Share
Menzies Aviation, the global aviation logistics specialist, today announces three contract wins in South East Asia and China with Rimbun Air, My Indo and Raya Air, reflecting the success of its growth strategy in the region.
A new three-year contract with fast-growing Indonesian cargo and regional passenger airline Rimbun Air will see Menzies handle up to six daily cargo flights for the airline’s two 737-300F aircraft at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK). The win will add an additional 40 flights per week to Menzies’ Jakarta ground services operations, significantly increasing the volume handled by the team.
Also at CGK, Malaysian cargo carrier Raya Air has selected Menzies to support its operations, starting with four weekly flights and growing. Raya Air is a new customer for Menzies.
Both contracts provide Menzies with continued growth in Indonesia, reflecting its trusted service and safety standards in the region.
Menzies has also won new business with My Indo Airlines, providing freighter, ramp and cargo services to the airline at Macau International Airport (MFM). The initial two-year contract will see Menzies handle an additional estimated 2,000 tonnes of cargo per year. The win reflects Menzies’ longstanding relationship with the airport, where it has been operating since 2000.
These contract wins follow the appointment of James Wong as Senior Vice President South East Asia & China. While this is a new role in Menzies, James has been with the business since 2019 in a variety of roles in the Americas region, most recently as the Vice President Cargo & Sales North America. James is focussing on developing new business throughout the South East Asia and China region as part of Menzies’ strategic growth plan. Furthermore, Raymond Lo has been reappointed to the role of Menzies Aviation Macau Managing Director to bolster Menzies’ joint venture business in Macau.

Pathetic piece in the Times this morning blaming HMG for the current air industry shambles (as though this is unique to the UK). Clearly feels the taxpayer should have bailed Menzies out. Pl be aware that is the job of the shareholders not the taxpayer.

Sold 25% of my holding today (taking advantage of tax free allowance) for +298% returns (fantastic movement from this one). May sell another 25% before end of tax year but will leave the remaining 50% (as this is held in my ISA) for completion of the takeover later this year.
Sounds like many people in the BB have made good money on Menzies which is great to see - congrats all!

Royal Mail is currently being played down again. I reckon it will be over 5 quid again within a year (3.30 now). I doubled my money on Royal Mail during Covid and I am aiming to repeat or come close again.
Rolls Royce as the comment above. My guess is that I will spike above at least 1.40 a couple of times before Christmas from a pound today.
Brilliant Tommy, thats put a smile on my face, it was alway a littel winner. Get aome Rolls shares now, nucelar play is going to be looking great really soon!
All sold up here too. My best investment ever - from £1 to £6. AMAZING!
Top sliced a couple of times along the way, as bagging some profits seemed the sensible thing to do. Still, massive gains here....well played everybody!! :-)
Now....where to invest the proceeds. Any good ideas anyone?
All sold up, an amazing investment.
Convb your optimism encouraged me to top up a few times and stick with it - many thanks
Obviously I did my own research as well; I loved the Menzies store in Leatherhead as a kid :)
I don't want to hold until Q3 for only 2% extra but I am wondering if it is worth waiting a couple of weeks in case of a rival bid, perhaps sell half my holding and hedge my bets.

Darren, a bidding war would be exciting. Although I am more than content with the >100% increase in my holding I only started buying in 2020. This has been by far my luckiest investment to date.
Shareholders will accept the offer, question is will another bidder be pushed into action now?
Shareholders still need to vote...should open well
Awesome, well done to all those that held out.
It could take a while to receive the money though : " The Acquisition is currently expected to complete during the third quarter of 2022"

Gatwick Airport, south of London, is set to welcome thousands more passengers every day in the summer, with numbers reaching pre-pandemic levels, bosses predict.
The Sussex airport has reopened its south terminal, with flights increasing from around 300 to 570 a day from Sunday.
The move is the equivalent to opening a medium-sized airport overnight, meeting the expected high demand for summer travel this year.
Chief Executive Stewart Wingate said 80,000 passengers will travel through the airport on Sunday, reaching "well over 150,000 per day" by July.
He told the PA news agency: "We've had a lot of restrictions over the last two years associated with the pandemic.

Final* Proposal by National Aviation Services (“NAS”)
and Agility Public Warehousing Co. K.S.C. (“Agility”)
The Board of Menzies (the “Board”) announces that it has received a further revised proposal from NAS, a
subsidiary of Agility, regarding a possible all cash offer for Menzies of 608 pence per share (the “Final
Proposal”). The Final Proposal is conditional on, amongst other things, confirmatory due diligence and the
recommendation of the Board of Menzies (such conditions being capable of waiver by NAS).
The Final Proposal follows earlier approaches from NAS to the Board regarding possible all cash offers for
Menzies at 460 pence, 510 pence and 605 pence per Menzies share.
The Board has considered the Final Proposal and indicated to NAS that it would be willing unanimously to
recommend an offer at the financial terms of the Final Proposal to Menzies shareholders subject to the
satisfactory resolution of all the other terms of the offer, including the approach to the customary regulatory
approvals required to complete any transaction. Accordingly, the Board is in discussions with NAS in
relation to these terms and will be providing NAS with access to management and due diligence information.
*NAS has confirmed to the Board that the financial terms of the Final Proposal are final and will not be
increased, except that NAS reserves the right to increase the amount of the offer price if there is an
announcement on or after the date of this announcement of a firm offer for Menzies by a third party offeror.
There can be no certainty that any offer will be made. This statement is being made by Menzies with the
consent of NAS.

Menzies Aviation secures significant air cargo and ground services contracts across Australia and New Zealand
14/03/22 Cargo Ground Handling
Menzies Aviation, the global aviation logistics specialist, has renewed and won several key contracts with airlines across Australia and New Zealand including China Airlines, Fiji Airways, Virgin Australia, Thai Airways and Air Calin.
Menzies has renewed its ground services contract with China Airlines at Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane airports, marking 10 years since it started working with the airline at Sydney. Since then, the partnership has expanded with Menzies now providing above and below the wing services to China Airlines at Australia’s three busiest airports.
At Sydney and Melbourne airports, Menzies has also renewed a contract with Thai Airways, which will see it continue to provide passenger and ramp services for the airline.
In New Zealand, Menzies has locked in a further term with Fiji Airways to provide air cargo handling services at Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington airports. This partnership began in 2011.
At these three airports, Menzies has established itself as a premium Cargo Terminal Operator (CTO), with its state-of-the-art warehouses at Auckland and Christchurch, and brand-new facility at Wellington. Reflecting this, Virgin Australia has selected Menzies as its new CTO across all three stations.
Menzies will continue to be Air Calin’s CTO at both Auckland and Sydney airports, building on a 15-year partnership with New Caledonia’s national carrier.
Alistair Reid, Executive Vice President – Oceania & South East Asia, Menzies Aviation, said: “It is fantastic to see the momentum we have achieved across Australia and New Zealand with this series of key contract wins and renewals. These wins demonstrate Menzies’ consistent standards of excellence across both ground services and cargo, and the value of long-term co-operation with our airline customers. We’re looking forward to further deepening these relationships and to continued growth in the Oceania region.”
What does that mean ?

When was this put out, and by whom?
All, still learning here, so was after some advice.
There are a number of RNS's coming out.
I am a little confused with the following information and was hoping someone could clarify:
Class of relevant security
Purchases/ sales
Total number of securities
25p ordinary
Purchases

5.1500 GBP
4.9200 GBP
25p ordinary
Sales
16,678
5.1500 GBP
4.9300 GBP
Is this a buy and sell of exactly the same number of shares or is this a purchase of shares and the sell is showing that someone else sold them?
Thanks for the help

It will be a done deal (perhaps) when the due diligence is completed.
I've heard Spec Savers has sold out of rose coloured glasses.
MNZS have only relased annula accounts, this is the first time NAS will have seen them also. Therefore NAS has time to now do due diligence. The accoutns will marry with what the board was projecting.
NAS will reply soon to confirm agrrement of extrension and offer at 608p
No deal is ever done till it’s on the table they may now be thinking there gone in to high companies to well over pay plenty of times. They could still pull out and take a hit and in this investment environment could well drop back below £3.I have no holdings any more here but if it keeps dropping may take a punt.
I have just added a bit now. An easy 20% in 3-4 weeks .
Becasue there is lot of work involved in formalising it. Takeover's are never so simple, they are time consuming.
Share price is because - Some can't wait that long and think they can better use money elsewhere in the market only to lose it perhaphs.

''While it does not expect to return to pre-pandemic levels until 2024, the group forecasts steady growth in passenger air travel this year and beyond, helping bolster revenue for its fuelling and ground services business.
John Menzies now targets net new revenues of $100million this year and around $200million to $275million over the short-to-medium term.
The group, which operates at more than 200 airports globally, added that it is monitoring the wider impact of Russia's invasion of Ukraine on air travel but it was difficult to assess at this time. It does not operate in either countries.''

Menzies returns to FY profit in 2021, updates on possible all-cash offer
Tue, 8th Mar 2022 08:38
(Sharecast News) - Aviation firm Menzies said on Tuesday that it had returned to profit in 2021 after seeing revenues grow more than a quarter year-on-year and also issued an update on a possible all-cash offer for the group.
Menzies stated full-year revenues were up 27% at $1.35bn, helping the group post an annual underlying profit of $76.0m, reversing the prior year's $24.0m loss.
The London-listed firm said its "substantial profit turnaround" reflected air cargo robustness, returning flight volumes, continued management actions to control costs and reshape the business, and governmental support schemes
Menzies also said a strong cash flow performance had resulted in substantial cash and undrawn banking facilities, with available liquidity of $225.0m,
Chairman and chief executive Philipp Joeinig said: "The rebalancing of our business as a major aviation logistics player continues at pace. We have seen significant growth in our air cargo business by winning contracts and widening the global reach of our network, while our fuel and ground services businesses go from strength to strength.
The reshaped business is emerging strongly from Covid and our opportunity for growth is significant. Our future growth will be driven by continued recovery in volumes, growth in the global aviation market, further commercial gains and the successful conversion of our exciting business development pipeline. As a result of significant management action to reduce costs, we expect that this growth will be achieved while delivering structurally higher margins."
Separately, Menzies announced that it was in discussions with NAS, a subsidiary of Agility, regarding its final proposal for a possible all-cash offer for the group of 608.0p per share.
Following the start of an offer period on 9 February, NAS was required to either announce a firm intention to make an offer for Menzies or state it did not intend to make one by 9 March.
However, as discussions were ongoing between Menzies, Agility and NAS and, to allow further time for these discussions to take place, Menzies has requested that the Panel on Takeovers and Mergers extend the PUSU Deadline until 30 March.

Looks like today will be a great day for MNZS - agreed to extend formal offer deadline until 30th March, and results looking great!!
Huge postive results Tuesday (tomorrow)
And Wednesday offer at 608p is confirmed.
JP Morgan increasing stake to 5%... interesting
What does the latest rns mean ?
NAS bought 19% at 605p
They are an operator not investor.
The deal is at 608p and offer will be confirmed Wednesday morning
If it's any consolation, the company's interim results will be released tomorrow. So that could be the clincher...
If MNZS performs fantastically well - I expect they'll remain attractive. If not, well...who knows?
Shocked to see my S.L. executed at 520 when I opened my email account earlier.
Not so sure that this is a time to gamble, I've family in Ukraine and things there are only getting worse.
There will be more opportunities to buy cheap before this ends.
.
This stock is probably a stand out performer in most peoples portfolio. Profits will be sliced for bargains elsewhere. To me this looks like a real opportunity to gamble.
Not looking good ??

There is no legally binding offer on the table. NAS is in a bind, because if it does want to reduce its 608p bid, it will have to get the approval of the Takeover Panel. Alternatively it can walk away and wait 6 months before having another go.
Not sure if I’m being naive but potentially a few people taking profit due to uncertainty which has triggered stop losses and into a downward spiral. Have to wait and see. Hopefully will rise again as NAS buy more or finalise the deal.
So what does everyone think will happen now ?
