The chopper looked great but it was a horrible thing to ride on. Certainly not the Easy Rider you hoped for, but who dared admit it was a dog to their mates?
A Raleigh Chopper, that comment shows age & class !
All VCT issues are on a bit of a tear at present with the end of the tax year but it is further grist to the Mercian mill
NVT fully subscribed. NVT2 and 3 still open.
Not the same impact as a Raleigh Chopper, but welcome all the same.

Mercia have thoughtfully provided shareholders with, albeit a tad late, a very pleasant Christmas present.
There were times when I thought I'd never be able to post that...
Edison have issued a bullish advertorial for them today
You might have only just taken down you Christmas decorations, but I detect a ground swell of MERC positivity.

CV
Almost certainly yes but I seem to recall that the % of Faradion given to the eis investors was very low so probably not terribly significant.
Is Mercia also eligible for an additional performance fee from the managed funds as a result of the sale?
It is indeed pleasing to see the directors deals, even more pleasing to see a 40 in the shareprice again, even if only on the offer side !
I don’t worry about jinxes. Vorwärts!
Barchid, CEO & CFO have rallied to your call and bought some shares @38p.
As for Warwick Acoustics, an outstanding company, with a bright future in both domestic Hi end and automotive audio sectors. There, that's jinxed it :)
You’re too kind Boards. I also said I couldn’t see any more 100m company sales this financial year and hey presto! It’s good to see big companies prepared to pay up early for IP. It’s encouraging for Mercia’s other starlets eg. another of the companies you dissed - Warwick Acoustics.
Boards/Scharnhorst
Indeed encouraging, but what is not encouraging is the SP, as of now just 2 trades, both small, have taken place.
What is needed to put a rocket behind this stock ?
Not a bad return for a company that makes things out of animal poo ..!
Scharnhorst, you called Faradion, well done. My scepticism has been proven unfounded.
Indeed so, a nice way to wake up on NYE !
...and upward. Still a long way off NAV.
I always had faith in Faradion but thought they'd have to wait another year or two. 50% on top of book value is excellent and lots of exciting companies still in the portfolio.
Boards
Always a pleasure to hear from you, I trust 2021 has not been too trying?
This is definitely the time of year to go for a tasty crustacean as opposed to a herring or two as Doenitz' crew are likely to have.
Certainly an up & down sort of year, indeed at one point it looked as if it was going to come off quicker than Jeremy Irons in "The Stud"....
"Very Interesting" ShareSoc _ I see they are also pursuing a claim against Sirius Minerals, which will please many.
So we have a new lobster to cultivate. Looks promising.
*^*..... Seasons greetings to the Mercia chat board. Time to fill your own Soc's
Sharesoc, who have good form in fighting high management fees in funds, especially vct's, are raising questions at the MERC agm re the fees on Northern vct now apparently being 4.5%, which by any reasonable comparative is way too high.
When I first invested in Northern vct in 1995 or 96 there were no performance fees.
This could be quite a hit to their bottom line if the vote does not go Sharesocs way, which it often does not in vct's (look at Albion AAVC as an example of cutting fees even when the vote was disputed), they are very very good at highlighting these matters.
This would be quite a hit to the bottom line if the fees were halved (which imho they easily could be).
Another good pick from Mercia. I wonder what their price point is? I don’t think they have FDA approval yet but they must have been given the heads up with all that expansion.
Scharnhorst
Indeed I do hope so, my investment started as an SEIS which is now up from that portfolio, 22 times, which is before the 50% tax rebate + 14% cgt rebate, but I was investing in it each year for about 5 years so it is rather important to me, as you can imagine !

I think you’re going to clean up on this one barchid.
It is up about 8X at present but could be rather higher with a fair wind....
