Can see now why Marstons are responding to the Carlsberg approach as in our local Supermarkets Marstons Beers are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. It would appear Drinking habits have changed and many "older people like me" are staying at home, although in the Country where we live the Pubs are also doing well. It must be the City where people are not so keen on social drinking and to be honest I do not blame them. House prices are also rising in the Country where people are looking to move out from the City as for many working from Home will continue for some time yet (perhaps with a pint).
Jim can see you have endeavoured to add too your Local's takings and help the near destitute Landlord....good on you.
An Old adage often used even today. " never invest more than one is prepared to lose".
You, and anyone interested, should read Tim Martin's report today, a very sobering statement.
Can add, have family who live on the verge of the Square mile, who called me yesterday. I could not believe what I was hearing.
Pubs (Fullers,Adnams etc) in and around the City were open mid-week last week but closed on Saturday and Sunday, unbelieveable when Saturday was the start of the Premier league. Those open Pubs had a dearth of punters and some restruants were in a similiar state.......open but empty and staff proping up the furniture.
Bloody luxury, my local Marstons is so empty that all the punters left two hours before they arrived. The landlord is so poor he had to furlough all the furniture as well as all the staff. The pub is now a paper bag..........
High hopes this will all unwind and return to profit and a fair share price in the near future. If I had any doubts I would have sold up and invested somewhere else. GLA
Pretty sure the CMA will be looking favourably at the Marston / Carlsberg deal now as this will help one great British Brewer survive stronger post Brexit having a partnership tie up with a European Owned Company.
Fortunately also Marstons have more Pubs outside of the Capital Cities than most, and have found the Supermarkets and Amazon very keen on selling their Beers which is obviously what Carlsberg see as of great interest.
Barchid,

If as rumoured curfew comes in, this will deal a devastating blow to the hospitality industry. One does wonder why inflict such Economic damage...some are even saying lessen controls and allow the Virus to run it's course. A dramatic course but what is worse....Economic Ruin or Health collapse. I know what I prefer!!
The Beer and Pub Association have already stated 37% of opened Pubs ran at a loss during August, a peak month.
There is no doubt something radical is needed to restore commercial viabilty for the whole sector, otherwise there will be mass closures and not just Marstons.
IMO
Report in todays Guardian business saying 1 in 4 of licensed premises in UK still not open coupled with widespread reports of a possible 9pm curfew in Scotland & 10pm in England can hardly help sentiment, despite more people back in offices, e.g. JPM today in Canary Wharf.
I went from Docklands to Chelsea late last week for lunch in Builders Arms, just off Kings Road, normally heaving every lunchtime, we were the only table eating, going there on the tube only 1 in 5 or 6 seats were being used and coming back by taxi very little sign of activity in the pubs we passed. Indeed the 'Spoons, back of the Minories, appeared to have just a few punters in, normally very busy to packed that time of day. This weekend's "last hurrah" was clearly good but going fwd ?
Hopefully things can only improve, question is when ?
I am sure next week the market will come back what with the Oxford trials back up to speed and a vaccine in the offing. I understand it will not be long now for a Marstons release which will be interesting!
Regret I do not comment and got bored with unfair trader whom I assume is now back at school.
as Tweedle dee and Tweedle Dum. One cannot add up or read the other has difficulty understanding plain facts and is still working out which FTSE market Marstons are listed.
How you 2 are allowed to keep posting beggars belief.
Anyhow chaps see you both at the AGM in January when we can exchange pleasantries, if you are still shareholders!!!
Have a good weekend, I will my week has been fabulous.
"You, sir, are displaying Obsessional traits and should seek help before it is too late."
Wow...this coming from you fairdealer? How long have you been dribbling on this board now? Hypocrisy eat your heart out! Perhaps you should seek help in pressing the sell button? Only an idiot would hold shares in a company they believe is a habitual under performer and will continue to be so. Then again, as you quite rightly pointed out, we only have your word that you hold shares. We can imply and extrapolate however, and judging by your comments if i were a betting man i would say you have no financial interest here. I still concur with my initial assessment of you re disgruntled armchair troll.
Lets do an analysis; i know not your strong point so I'll keep it simple. You have been posting since may 2017 and racked up 3400 comments. Supercharger, a member since Sept 2016 with 2330. You are only 10 behind on the comments front this month regarding MARS, so you are hardly the right poster to be calling another poster obsessive, wouldn't you say?
Alas we agree on something. This board has become a little looney tunes. But without doubt you hold the leading role of daffy duck.
Will help our Brewing contract with Kirin we have in place and so those needing a reminder link to the release below :-

Or in Fairtraders language Bye,bye - won't even bother reading this rubbish non members club related who loves shorts rather than a good olde fine pint of Pedigree! Lovely!! Mind you maybe Champers tonight if we continue the home run.
Supercharger, now you are Denying shareholders their Rights, a very serious threat. Does this come with the blessing of your imaginary Friends?
Lets turn it around, who can know how many shares any individual holds at any one time and certainly who can trust someone who cannot count.
Again judging by the time of your nocturnal posts, this share rather than making you happy as you claim must be a nightmare for you.....the facts are there for all to read.
You, sir, are displaying Obsessional traits and should seek help before it is too late.
This Board is becoming more like Looney Tunes each day and I have NO intention too continually engage with a Poster who cannot count, has imaginary friends , does not recognise Hard Facts, is full of Hyperbole(BS) and his own self Importance.
It is a great pity you don 't keep too your word as you expect others too, and concentrate on news and facts regarding Marstons
Without any voting rights and no voice what we have established here is we have 3 shorts and only 1 interested in actually drinking pints.
A case of 1st out the taxi - & the last one in this Pub.
At least I can enjoy my pint in the members bar. Ha.ha.
@Turnpan
A very astute observation, sad indeed.
All we want to do is discuss MARS, what is seiously sad is that super-ramper quotes figures which are patently incorrect, re MARS. Not even sure if he is aware he does it ?
What a sad life it must be to spend 5 hours of it demanding to know how many shares other people hold. Thank heavens for the filter bin.
Well there we have it folks both BarCHILD and FAIRtrader both cannot disclose any interests in Marstons at all - which in my opinion means no voting right and we should take for granted anything they say because it will not be in Marstons interest for them to say what they do.
For me a good time to top up with some more shares! - Happy days!
I wish you would keep it Marston's related for everyone's sake.
Lets keep it Marstons related. How many shares do you hold At the moment?
Supercharger
Just relax perhaps ?
I'm interested in Marston's not waffle.
Spend some time with their website perhaps ?

I am pleased as a shareholder you spend some of your hard earned cash.
However to be taken seriously to warrant a card we still await the detail of your shareholdings for you to be able to comment and advise, perhaps you have sold your Marstons shares and need to hand back your card?
Good try Supercharger, you have a lot too learn. My share holdings as should any serious investor, is between me, my Accountant and HMRC. But to put your mind at rest as it clearly bothers you, do you believe Marstons would issue a Privilege Card to someone who is not a shareholder?
Is this avoidance Fairtrader? -How many do you own - surely even a master investor such as yourself can answer for us all that simple question. No one can take you seriously if you do not actually hold any?
Supercharger golden rule on these boards, never disclose as you never know who is watching. All I will say is my holding is at a level way above the current SP.
They are shark bait then?
To be a Good Ramper you need to have genuine facts and a good memory. You have failed the basic test.
