Just online with Halifax, they are telling me I'll get the SAND shares in NYSE format: 'The new Sandstorm shares will trade on the NYSE, so you will be able to trade on our platform '
Thank you D220 - "great minds think alike eh! " - but that is good news, that has reassured me, and likewise, I will continue to keep my holding for the future, I believe personally that there are a few more positive twists and turns ahead, fingers crossed! - thank you again.
nsmith, I HAD intended doing what you plan for the very same reasons! Now that HL are saying I will get TSX shares, I will retain my holding. I like the idea of continued exposure to gold generally and HM particularly via Sandstorm and the cash portion will find a home in either HUR or SQZ!
Thank you D220 - thats great news! - Hope its true?....
Hello everyone - can I kindly ask ( dont mean to pry ) what your actions and thoughts are as to selling MARL before the 23rd and indeed after ( once we move over to TSX and SAND etc ) I dont quite understand the details regarding TSX, trading and the implications? how easy / difficult it is? - so at present I am looking to sell my MARL holding before Friday, only because I do not understand the implications after the 23rd and how it will actually affect me? ( current holders? ) - again really appreciate any advice and details you can give. I believe there is decent upside to SAND shares in the future so ideally want to hold them for increased returns, but do not want to be in a difficult position with copious issues and paperwork to fill out if thats the case when they convert to SAND, I dont need the headache, if this is the case? - thank you guys.
Interesting D220 - not sure how this affects us Halifax holders as we can trade on the NYSE Amex but NOT the Canadian TSX...
Yes, or so they assure me! I have never held non UK stocsk with HLbefore but they say that I can still hold Sandstorm in my ISA or SIPP and deal online as normal.
Thank you for that information D220 - in terms of selling / buying and trading is this easy now with HL on the TSX - as if it were UK stocks etc? - thank you for any advice.
For any of you still holding Marl with HL, you may be interested to know that when the deal goes through you will get Sandstorm shares listed on TSX NOT repeat NOT NYSE. This should allay any fears re tax or ability to trade. This has just been confirmed to me both by secure message AND direct from their Corporate Actions Team on the phone.
Was hoping for a 'No' vote, a SP fall and then load back in. :-( Still got a lot of cash that needs a home. GLA all and I guess my last post here :-(
...if the BoD had recommended that shareholders reject the bid. In this case, they would still have to have put it to shareholders, so there would still have been a vote. However... what would have happened with the SP? Presumably, the MMs would have valued MARL at no more than they did in light of the yes recommendation. Perhaps the valuation would have been less... but it certainly wouldn't have been more. This said, there would have been a significant discount between the market price and the offer price. So what happens next? Do the arbs jump in and gamble on being able to buy up sufficient stock to be able to sway the vote despite the opinion of the BoD? Because if they did... it looks now as if that gamble would have paid off and we would have ended up where we are now regardless. If however the gamble was considered too risky, then no arbs = majority PI ownership still, and then perhaps a no vote might then have been possible.
It's been a bit of a tense few weeks, so I am just pleased that today has passed smoothly, and that it's all quiet on the MARL front (and all quiet on the SAND front too), and that the SP is just holding steady for a while. It could have taken a battering. Time to regroup. More news will come from Hot Maden in due time, and perhaps elsewhere, SAND will realise that they have got themselves a real deal, and we can look forward to a steady lift from here (IMHO/WTFDIK as they say). If any posters did attend the EGM, it would be good to get some feedback on the atmosphere of the meeting. Cordially Lionel
Ludeck all a bit embarrassing, but basically told I was a bit late and I walked with my tail firmly between my legs. Looking at SSL on TSX and converting looks to me as though MARL is virtually in line at current prices hence I guess no movement. Still a small benefit as compared to NYSE but marginal.
Or sideways.
where will there SP head today - up or down on the news ??
Zippy - it was never closed (except when you were in bed!). The fact is, there's been no movement in the share price because the MMs are apparently happy to leave the bid and the ask where they are. Either PIs are continuing to sell (and arbs continuing to buy), or there's a stand-off brewing!
SOLG - much bigger, with far greater potential to expand further. much deeper, much more expensive to drill and eventually to extract. far lower grades. good mining jurisdiction (although this was harder to be sure of back when drilling first started). MARL - very high grade, shallow depth. but the kickers - dubious jurisdiction in which to be working and - most importantly - a minority stake with an unlisted partner. I think we all overlooked the significance of being just 30% to Lidya's 70% - for me, that's the main reason we are where we are with this.
Why is there no movement on the share price? Is it not open for trading yet?
As an example, If the share price remains the same after the merger and I sold up. I would make roughly about £1000. Given that this is a world class find that's pathetic. had such hopes for this stock. Why did I not go to choose SOLOG when I was buying here. A complete and utter sellout in my opinion. Good luck to all Frits
Did they really refuse your entry? Funny cuz when I still thought I was going to be able to make this, I was looking out for instructions to intended attendees, and found nothing.
Still holding (~40k shares), and frankly relieved at the vote outcome. But in the short term at least this was a vote for the SP to rise or fall, so not really surprising that most chose the former. Looking forward to continuing to profit from HM, but with the added security of SAND's diversification. Wonder if LSE might hold this BB open for a while at least, for SAND discussion?
I voted no also ... GP / ER sold out way too early - such a shame ..
i also voted no, cannot believe that only four others voted no. who else voted no?
Look on the bright side - if we hang on in here with Sandstorm, we could yet see some of HM's rewards come to fruition. Ok - we'll have to share them around a bit more admittedly. Glen was never ever going to get into mining HM. He should have got the PFS out first, before selling the goddamn thing though!
Anyone who set a stop loss in case of a NO vote might want to consider cancelling that now. I wouldn't put it past the MMs for a quick tree shake to hoover up any low hanging fruit prior to their last stand.
