I'm just curious what you think about this one NYSE: STWD?
I bought these first time last summer when the price was below $14. It's now trading at about $24.80. I took some profits recently but left two thirds of my holding. It's still yielding at 7.7%. Last summer it was over 12%!
There seems to be some momentum going on but it's now at 52 week high.
'Well done with your gain but not selling at a loss is not a very sensible strategy, momentum is the main driver of share prices.'
Thank you.
It's just the way I trade and invest. I normally hold my shares for a long times, years rather than months. I've been quite tempted to take some profits on this one recently but I've decided to hold on for now.
I did get burnt with Yell and Cattles at one point. Generally, however, I believe that in most cases, most blue chip and well known companies will regain their value. There are some exceptions, of course. Take Lloyds, it reached 591p in 2007 and is now trading at just above 40p. I'd be happy with 60p and over the moon if it reaches 100p eventually.

Cheers for the heads up re vouchers. I've got some old Greene King ones but hadn't realised that MAB did the same. I'll get on the email...
I applied for 203 and got them all except 4 rejected so not bad still waiting for my vouchers though
Had similar issue, a small amount rejected about £150 worth.
I also got 98% of my total max application (like Bobross) on HL, credited about 9 am this morning, and received the vouchers on Thursday.
Happy birthday mapp - maybe celebrate with a Toby's when it all opens up?!
Finally got my 175 shares today.
This is my best investment on HL account by miles right now, showing a whopping 58% profit. My overall profit on HL is currently 46%.
I was down by about 25% overall at one point last summer. Many would have panicked and sold 'in order to avoid trades getting damaging'. I did not because I do not sell at a loss. I hold or occasionally average down when the market is down, as I did with this one when the price was just below 160p.
I initially paid 260p for my shares and - oops - they fell like a hell first. My average now is about 207p, including these vouchers.
holding up well though . I have even bought a few more.
There seems to be a theme of well-funded recovery stories/companies performing well in this market.
I am certainly not going to fight that trend
Got mine on Friday from H/L perfectly timed
as a surprise for my birthday, 13th March.
20% off and shareholders can have a say.
MAB a long term investment.
I just got my shares, applied for the max 2500ish I was offered and got them all, but you are only 18 shares off the max.
I’ve been in since 130 last March so decided to sell and enjoy taking the profit! Might well be back but I’ll certainly be supporting MAB with the vouchers I just got, GLA :-)
This has sparked questions among institutional investors over the company’s governance, with Odyzean widely tipped to make a nil-premium offer for M&B at some point in the future

I was allowed to apply for my maximum of 908 shares (with 500 being guaranteed) but according to my Hargreaves Lansdown Account today only 890 were accepted and 18 were rejected. It all still needs to fully go through as I don’t have the shares in my account yet, and admittedly 18 shares less is bugger all. I had all the cash available for the full amount so just wondering if others have had a similar issue, or what you have been allowed?
Got a email from HL about the vouchers a few weeks ago haven't received them yet so hopefully should be posted to me soon not that we can use them at the moment
In their communications I noticed they said the shares would appear in your account “on or around the 12th” - covered themselves there!
Sent HL a message today complaining of the delay to the extra shares, after all they should have been in accounts enabling owners to trade them yesterday if so wished - poor show!
checked mine this morning still no data but have taken money and told me how many shares..
Anyone had their allocation of extra shares come through on the Lloyds platform? A friend of mine says they have not come through and worried he didn't complete process properly . Thanks
Same here. HL does seem to be going downhill. Now has no broker ratings for each share, no trade data either - was told both were only temporarily absent as the data supplier was being changed, think they were being economical with the truth.
There is no reason for a drop, everybody knows about the extra shares so the price will already taken account of it.
Still not showing in my HL account :(
Par for the course with HL sadly.
Mine arrived in Barclays too. Also I applied for a lot more of the excess shares than I was entitled to and received about double the cap (apparently because Barclays is a nominee account and they were given their share of the excess rather than being split on an individual basis, not many on that platform must have applied for excess shares, crazy). So just sold my excess shares straight away and made £2k profit, keeping the rest. I still have a line on my Barclays account that I cant touch with the rest of the excess shares I applied for, guessing I wont be getting those and will have my money returned soon. Good luck everyone.
Had mine arrive in my Barclays ISA account about 30 minutes ago
