Exactly well said .
When a top employee reaches the top of their profession, don't be surprised when they make a top wage.
Britain's richest PM of the past half-century, bulging his pockets with cash, is redder than red and has spent a lifetime preaching thru a rictus grin of "equality" and "fairness" for the "people"... he's called Tony Blair.
Gazzlebury
“ When it comes to politicians enriching themselves, you do not need to look any further than Thatcher (may she rot in Hell). She didnt get that wealth from hubby and the PM's salary.”
Really ? I notice you don’t level the same charge at Tony Blair. He has done nothing but enrich himself since he left office. Champagne socialist hypocrite.
Norway population about 5.4 million.
imagine an independent Shetlands, I think their wealth fund would have been worth a bit per head of population.
Too many people (and growing) in the UK to have any money left over to have a UK wealth fund - hence the ever increasing national debt burden - hopefully as a percentage of GDP in the coming years it will remain manageable to afford the interest payments.
Norway has been run really well....their sovereign wealth fund has to be admired.....
Bob Crow infamously said the same thing about Margaret Thatcher on TV when a guest panellist on BBC's "Have I got News for You"!
Theosus,
Countries very rarely run companies efficiently, and the UK is a prime example of that.
Could things have been done differently and better, of course mistakes were made but SUCCESSIVE governments have failed to do the right thing, how can this country be spending tens of Billions on HS2 when we HAVEN'T secured our energy independence, why are we still buying gas from Russia?
The system isn't great but targeting Conservative governments for mistakes made or not modified is not just a Tory thing.
Why are we not exploiting this country's resources for the good of its people? We can ask the same question of Labour!
"Let me guess was your dad a miner?"
Maybe Gazzleberry was a miner himself?
Gazzleberry,
I don't know how old you are but 70's Britain was a shocking state.
Power cuts, I can remember sitting there with candles (and this was before they became trendy!) Rubbish piled high in the streets, Britain Leyland, miners etc on permanent strike. It was sh.1te.......
Thatcher brought this country back from the brink, did she make mistakes? Of course she did but those early years is what Britain needed.
And another thing, the bloody labour politicians were all for capitulation and surrendering the Falklands to Argentina.
Let me guess was your dad a miner?

all good and we would have a rally now ,go FTSE 100
like i said this morning FTSE 100 would be higher and we could do with Thatcher now
Who did he wish would rot in hell? Assuming Thatcher, but I didn't see that one. If it was Thatcher then I entirely agree.
Don't know how anyone would engage with someone like Gazzleberry.
He showed his true colours when he come out with the phrase "may she rot in hell" that's all you need to know about him.
"NatWest up 5.10p Lloyds down 0.12p"
Surprised at the differential also given that extra headroom provided by the Government and windfall tax on energy companies means consumers have more money in their pockets to pay mortgages, save, spend. All things good for economies and banks.
Weekend nearly upon us and if anyone is stuck for entertainment this weekend I would urge you to go see the new TopGun Maverick film. Saw it on opening night and it is an incredible film. Worth every penny of the ticket price.
"USSR, Cambodia, North Korea, UK 1970s, nobody wants to go back there"
God you talk some rubbish. Those countries and their pitfalls have absolutely nothing to do reasonable fiscal policies and governance. It's an entirely false strawman argument devoid of any knowledge of history or politics. Please can you for once try and make an honest-faith comment that isn't just made up nonsense and strawman arguments that have no actual bearing on things?!
If your only argument is "whatever I disagree with is communism" then what's the point in even trying to discuss anything with you?
