Whilst not directly applicable to Port Watching, I posted the following on 7th June.
"My fear is that the bank consortium who currently hold a charge over the Amapa mine assets,
will use every legal weapon to protect their interests. To lose their case will mean a write off of
millions of dollars. Not sure what, if any, appeals are available but I am sure they will explore
all avenues"
Seems that the courts are giving them leeway and time to coordinate an agreed response.
Meanwhile the jrp remains intact.
Still see the eventual outcome as positive for kdnc, in the meantime we have cash to continue
to operate throughout this delay. Would appreciate an update from BOD though.
Earlier news on this topic from January. Quite exciting for our project! Might turn out delays in reconstructing the port could be beneficial to us after all! Every cloud and all that ;-)
"Pilotage of Amapá proves viability of the operation of large ships on Santana Island" (01/27/2020)
http://www.revistaportuaria.com.br/noticia/20402

“From the limitation of ship entry of up to 203 meters, we move to 290 meters, a gain of almost 50%. With the bidding of Companhia Docas de Santana (CDSA) and the construction of the two terminals at the mouth of the Matapi River, in Anauerapucu, the economic value of waterway operations in this region considerably increases, because the port will operate without the restriction that the evolution basin imposed. It limited the size of ships.

Another version of this story confirms it's recent news :-)))
"Larger ship operations in Amapá are simulated at the University of São Paulo" (August 5, 2020)

Doesn't answer the question (or does it!?) and would presumably apply to our rehabilitated port too - very interesting!

New port operations in Arco Norte may receive the seal of the Brazilian Navy and boost cargo handling capacity in the port of Santana by 50%.
...
Another pilotage investment was the survey of the surroundings of Ilha de Santana, in front of the port, which indicates the possibility of a route for the arrival of large bulk carriers. Today, vessels up to 203 meters in length (Handysize) turn in the evolution basin to dock, but the area prevents the maneuvering of larger ships. With the new route, the ships will already line up with the port's berths, eliminating the need to turn in the basin. This will allow bulk carriers to enter the 235-meter range (Panamax), with two more cargo holds, bringing significant productivity gains.

l did tell you 6 to 8 months if a deal could be done " we are Minos in a shark invested water and nearly 7 months have passed, and not one rns relating to a amapa deal in any shape or form, l think the fab 5 need to research how business is conducted in the real world,
I'm beginning to wonder if the appeal against us which was partially upheld has scuppered the net $10m shipment plan? Though I can't see why it should have, but you never know! Perhaps shipments were put on hold pending outcome of the negotiations with the banks as these were deemed drawing to a close one way or another?
As expected, nothing in port on the 6th, and now nothing expected until the 20th according to the various sources below. Which begs the question why? Holidays? Lock down? Repair? Upgrades? Secret shipment of ore? LoL! Anyone got research which points to one of these, or something else? I find it odd that we, apparently, had a port slot (TBN, to To Be Named Iron ore 45kt to China) which was shifted a couple of times and now no longer appears on any of the links below, despite the courts appearing to recently ratify that net $10m of ore could be shipped.

Well if it's arriving on the 10th it will have loads time to clean the mashed potato off the walls, or whatever the cargo is :))
My opinion would have been swung similarly had it not (apparently) shipped iron ore from Brazil to Argentina in May 2017. Perhaps the potential of a multiyear (potentially multi-decade?) contract with us it too tempting to refuse a change of cargo type? :-)
Possible I guess but unlikely in my opinion ..... unless they've decided to change its cargo use .... the clean up required after carrying ore to recommence with Agri/foods would be quite costly I imagine ...... I suspect we need to keep eyes peeled for an established bulk load ore carrier personally ...
Food delivered, iron ore picked up?
Good spots @tomcat and @Bannor.
According to this it's Agricultural
