Alboumphoto, I guess I'm comparing todays market to yesteryear, when I first started out investing 36 years ago when there were no algo trading. Today share prices can be controlled with in my opinion corrupt trading with very low numbers of very small trades. You may have noticed heavy amounts of trades all at very low amounts of 1 share, 2 shares? I may be wrong, this is only my opinion.
Nige, you come across as an eminently reasonable and sensible sort of chap but there is one thing I don't understand - if you think the game is rigged by market manipulators etc then why do you play? Reminds me of the bloke down the bookies who's happy to be regarded a genius when he wins but in the next breath will tell you its all fixed.
Good results, just to add.
Net debt £476m (2020 £783m) down £316m
Cash in the bank £704m
but ITV is doing Ok ,
at 123.80 p
@5eights - thanks for clarifying
Looking at the estimates I would hope that ITV goes North as the rev is a big beat - Let's see - gla dyor etc
TV H1 Earnings:
Revenue: GBP1.55B (est GBP1.41B)
Adj EBITA: GBP327M
Net Profit: GBP98M
Re-Commence A Progressive Dividend Policy
To Propose Final Dividend Of 3.3P/Share For 2021
3.3p full year dividend yes, but proposed by the board subject to the company's performance by the end of this financial year. The board had already stated back in the full year numbers that the dividend policy would only be re-instated subject to market and economic conditions.
3.3p dividend, no?
Divi conspicuous by its absence. Declaring an interim dividend would not be a big cost to the company, but would have sent a far greater positive signal to the market than all the diversity/ climate targets tosh.
You're obviously not in jubilee metals then Nige. A fantastic company with year on year exponential growth and profits, so much cash it does know what to do with it. But SP currently being hammered and is way too low.
Must be part of that conspiracy I guess. Lol
Jog on troll.
It really is amazing whenever ITV has a down day the market stinks, the market is corrupt, so many dark forces conspiring against ITV, blah, blah, blah....
Change the tune Nige, your moaning is pathetic, worse than a two year old.
The FTSE100 index closed down 0.42% ITV closed down 1.57%. It's ridiculous that ITV always gets punished more than most other companies. ITV makes good profits NO losses, cuts debt and gets treated like this, in almost every down day, I should be used to it by now. It stinks to be fair.
Let's see what games we have in store for tomorrow results.
Called that wrong
Weak close at 119p but gained in auction to 119.35p
Let’s see tomorrow
Suspect ITV will close around 121p tonight.
Let's hope tomorrows good news will be enough to retake 130p!
This was always the consequence of the UKs decision.
To be fair Nigel Farage said this would happen but said it was still worth it 'getting back control'.
The Tory Brexiteers just lied and lied and lied.....................
The lost decade or two, or three......................
But that's what the country wanted - well not Scotland or N Ireland.
That's the next ball to drop.
So much for taking back control - Everything here will be owned by the rest of the world!
Sorry rant over.
Rock............ "We were knocked off course in 2016 and never recovered."
Agreed, while the FTSE100 index may be some 800 points higher than after the referendum vote in June 2016, this doesn't tell the true picture. This benefitted Dollar earning companies in the FTE100 that resulted in a higher FTSE100 index, but at the expense of UK Pound Stirling earning companies who have never recovered some 5 years down the road.
We were knocked off course in 2016 and never recovered.
China and Hong Kong falls.
But agree a nonsense reason.
Why the market down today? FTSE100 down 90 pts. ITV down 2.65p.
Cannot keep blaming Covid. 6 days of falling infections and still the market goes down.
FTSE100 gone nowhere in 20 years while the DOW has more than trebled, closed yesterday at a new high. It stinks.
