Hey Velo
I was trying to do a similar thing with my trading lot, quoting right up until 16:29... but I chickened out last minute.
I really hope it was me who made the right decision, but I reckon you may have played it right!
I loved working at ITV. I was staff, then left, then came back for another staff job at a different site. Great place to work.
Eventually left to go freelance. The main reason was pay and wanting more time with my family. I'd consider contracting there again, for sure.
Yes, you definitely have to weigh up the pros and cons of 3 or 5 years. I remember a colleague getting a new job and leaving 4 years in. At that point the share price was really high compared to the option price. Bit gutted, but still got all their initial investment back.
In terms of fair value, I don't really like to say. I'm more of an observer on these forums, but I do know about ITV's SAYE! All I will say is that I think the recent drop seems overdone, ITV are still making good profits and reducing debt, even if they are spending an extra £100m + on content for ITVX (some could say this was a good thing, anyway). I can see this returning to 110 not too long from now, especially if there's a ceasefire in Ukraine. Just my opinion, of course
Hi LawStudent95
I did the ITV SAYE scheme a few times many years ago - it actually got me into investing in shares. I personally think 70p is a great option price and probably best only to lock in for 3 years, only in case your friend's career changes (you only get to purchase the shares early with redundancy). As for the amount per month, that totally depends on how much they can live without per month.
The good thing about SAYE is that you can't really lose, as you get your money back if the share price is lower after 3 (or 5) years. And you can cancel it at any time. I cancelled one once as I was having building work done, and needed the cash.
Are they better off investing elsewhere? Perhaps. But 70p was pretty much the lowest it dropped recently and I personally think ITV are way undervalued right now.
Ah, gotcha. Thanks Nige.
Interesting about Apple. They crossed my mind the other day. A bid would be brilliant, but more than happy to continue to hold here for growth.
Crikey. BT posts on a forum he isn't invested in on a bank holiday? That is pretty sad.
I've worked for ITV before. Does that mean I'm allowed an opinion here, but I am a leech on all my other holdings? So is Tom a leech at all the these new year retail companies, then?
Logged in to a computer without my filters on. Whoops
I once trolled a Star Trek forum with a couple of mates. Got banned after 2 hours. Actually felt really bad afterwards and never did it again. It was 25 years ago and I was in my early teens. Silly thing is that I quite like Star Trek.
Tom, I feel sorry for you. Sounds like a really lonely experience living out of a bag.
Everyone else, thank you for your news and opinions, positive and negative. Both sides are valuable. Cheers.
Odysseus, I think we have similar plan. I'm prepared to hold that long, too
Fully prepared to raid my tax account for opportunities like this morning! Ha
Yeah, I'm sure some people, MMs or otherwise, made a nice little chunk this morning
