Fantastic results and bang on target.
Berenberg issued a buy upped its target price to £162 - £170 per share.l
not bad it is better than going down 4%
What do you think of the share price response, +4% at time of writing.
results are tomorrow and they would be good but since trading update ONT share price gone down fro £7 to £4
And no doubt an update. Hopefully also a divi.
Great price point for buying in here.
Consequently, the Directors currently expect the Group's profit for 2021 to be above £425m (FY20: profit £185.4m). Hard NAV per share is anticipated to be above 165 pence, a return of at least 31%.
The Group is in a strong financial position with net cash and deposits of £276m at year-end. The Group's portfolio is well funded with portfolio companies having raised over £2bn in 2021 (FY20: £1.1bn). This, combined with the exciting prospects and investment opportunities within the portfolio, gives us confidence for 2022.
IP Group expects to announce its 2021 results in mid-March.
Sambar,
Deepmatter recapitalised. When a business runs out of cash it goes bust. A growing, start up business - like Deepmatter - needs enough cash to reach a point where it covers its cashflow. IP Group as a shareholder would have had first dibs on contributing and picking up a greater holding, especially as it's awash with cash. It declined to do so. That suggests to me that it didn't see an opportunity. Moreover Deepmatter was a £14m market cap (September 2021) and is now (Jan 2022) a £10m market cap after dilution. So IP's loss is around £2.5m and is included in its hard NAV of 165p in Jan 2022. The fact that the NAV grew despite life sciences being absolutely hammered is fascinating.
***By rights their trading update should show a 30-40p NAV loss not a 30p per share net gain. I think investors are failing to grasp this simple fact***
IP Group is a £1bn market cap. The "loss" of proportional ownership from 22% to 6% is simply a business decision, nothing more. So stop trying to sensationalise something that just isn't.
See RNS of 13 Jan. Can see this running up to the March figures already disclosed. Should hit 130p or more in next month or so.
Thank you very much Watchman007 for the info. ATB

this is a bargain under £1
Hello everyone - I am new to the IP Group (IPO) and would be grateful for some information. I understand that the IP Group generated £84m when Oxford Nanopore Tech listed on the LSE in October. Would anybody be aware if the IP Group still owns 10.3% ie 82,062,144 shares in Oxford Nano(ONT)? Also is there a lock-up period for IIs ie before they are able to sell their holdings? Thank you all

Be careful what you hope for!
nothing wrong with that, investing is for the future so i would be buying more monday hopefully under a pound.
It says a lot about a company that is investing in the companies of tomorrow when it decides to buyback its shares at in excess of 110p for them to be worth 103p less than a week later. its the equivalent of having a bundle of £50 notes and setting fire to them.
Then we come to some of their holdings - take Deep matter - look what has happened to the share price there - avoid!!
Deepmatter IP Group supported their 84% discount 70% dilution

emailed David Baynes directly about Deepmatter no feedback whatsoever
Just one sentence of warning
I can believe the share price being well below the NAV if IP Group are happy to take an 84% discount on their assets
Won't post here again but at least you have been warned
Hi all, still holding here. Been to busy to post. Today's RNS confirms what we knew - oversold/ undervalued. Great long term investment IMO
Meant 50% upside and it's a 33% discount to NAV! D'oh! Sorry.
Compared to its peers GROW (Molten Ventures), Augmentum, or CHRY this trades at an unwarranted discount. SUPP does too but that the ghost of Neil Woodford to contend with.
looking for a better day here today, nice
Well Oldbutnowisa you might need to alter your name after this morning's announcement!
I am relieved/delighted to see this morning's result/update, it's been a lonely road sticking with my belief in this share:
= Current *50%* discount to NAV
= PE of 2.5
Incredibly cheap for a growth play on green tech and health.
RNS Highlights:
· FY21 profit anticipated to be above £425m (FY20: profit £185.4m)
· FY21 Hard NAV per share* anticipated to be above 165p (FY20: 125.3p), a return of at least 31%
· Net cash and deposits of £276m at 31 Dec 2021 (FY20: £203m)
· Portfolio companies well-funded having raised over £2bn in 2021 (FY20: £1.1bn)
...a load of value not reflected in this SP. Wondering if a smart IT, like RCP, will take a big position here at this juncture and highlight the hidden value?
Agreed. SP been going sideways for a little while but happy to hold here and top up on dips.
and we own 10%. AND we are in midst of a buyback of own shares. Silly SP.
Now one of larger holdings in my pf.
