It is very hard to build a position and once you are in a comfortable situation then hold and reap the benefits. Next year, SP could be £3+ here and will rise further. I thought £6 in 5yrs time from now but £4 atleast is possible so just hold and don't sell. New ISA allowance coming on April 5th so this would comfortably reach £2.50+ after April.
@smalltrader thanks and much appreciated.. I will have a look at do some research.
Deepblue, have a look at CINE. It is another covid impacted stock that is due for a big recovery. CEO and the directors have SH approval for a big bonus if sp reaches £1.90 and above. DYOR
Thanks @Dean... appreciate your advice. hope you hit the profits needed for the holiday trip - and do book on BA if you can, it will help the sp..... I bought back in at 219 and, this time, will not let go until summer with top ups along the way.
do continue to share tips if you see a good entry point along the way. I will need some luck at my end.
Deep blue,
Emotion and fear are the two worst triggers in investing or trading. I’ve been through it all. However if you watch the pattern emerging with travel stocks since the bull run, it al makes sense and you can see the slight drop on a weak FTSE that then either returns to positive that day or the next. Then when the FTSE is rising to regain the 1% it lost, travel stocks rise again so it’s almost rising twice the way it is working at present. That doesn’t mean to say it won’t change, but this bull run, that seems to be the pattern from my analysis.
I’m no professional either so don’t take my advice. Everyone has their own strategies and some are happy with banked profit. However myself, I’m looking for the big profits. Got an expensive holiday I’m wanting this year :)
If I bag 5%, but miss out on 20%, as far as I am concerned I am 5% up. Do you look at the highest gainers of the day and see companies you've never heard of with 50% rises and kick yourself, why oh why didn't I invest there? In the same way that that 50% riser means nothing because you had no involvement with them, you should feel the same way about the missed 155 with the ones you were involved with.
It's just numbers, nothing else. You do not get a bonus for being top of the leader board!
Dean, good point made and good advice. Numpties like me who got burnt these last few days due to the response of US treasury yield on sp (US shares) are trying to shore up profits, banked them, in case the sp rout continues to hedge against paper losses. Not sure about anyone else but i do not recommend following me at all - clear case numpty. Under different circumstances, I would hold and forget (as you say, till June / July).
But Deanmck7, I got a free set of new towels for the bathroom this morning!
This sp is at a level which has many halmarks of a major correction down on it. Jumping back in at this level, I am keeping a close eye on it. It is possible that it will be on a never ending upward trend, but then there is an equal probability the city will cash in, it needs to cover the lack of divs to pay all those pensions. And history has shown me, when a long run of large increases occurs, pis set stops galore and keep moving them up and tighter to the top looking for a maximum exit [greedy buggers]. When the sp turns and the stops are triggered, the cascade can result in rapid and deep sp drops. So I and many others will always be hyper sensitive to red.
Why people sell up when they see red on opening. Travel has been massacred through the pandemic which meant a lot of bargains.
When the FTSE is down pre market, that doesn’t mean the travel sector will suffer, if anything it rises as travel only has one way to go to catch up with all the FTSE stocks that regained their value through the pandemic whilst every day the travel sector went down.
Light is at the end of the tunnel and people selling up is an emotional trigger which then is a double ended sword as when it turns positive 10 minutes later they start kicking themselves and missing out on proper gains.
The best news is still to come, with America not too far behind us in vaccination and the routes opening up. Digits passports (if it happens) and economies opening up around the world.
Relax and switch off if your emotions are triggering silly decisions. Come back in July and see the difference
