Following discussions with the Oil & Gas Authority, the Halifax Well has been suspended to allow for potential future operations to either deepen and/or undertake further testing of the well,
marine licence and a chemical permit now approved per O/G website as I post seawell vessel over Halifax
light well intervention is what I am thinking, which is a cheaper option than putting a rig over the well head
If its further testing of the well then positive results could be significant
The above post by LASERDISC on ADVFN sounds interesting.

Hope we get an update on the seawell operations. There are some different opinions.

barnyards,
"Seawell doing P&A ? wonder which fool dreamt that one up :)"
Not quite sure what she's doing, but whatever it is, she's doing it quick. Current destination is Whirlwind. 'Shipwatch' has once again become more interesting than 'SPwatch'.
daltry what's that got to do with hurricane
is it not about time you had your daily stroll ?
why not take the wife with you again as we might get a few more minutes of on topic chat.
mind you even the on topic is just as bloody boring but on a positive note at least the forum gatekeeper is still in bed
Seawell doing P&A ?
wonder which fool dreamt that one up :)
ADUK the usual objective well balanced view.... no one really cares about Texas and their pickup trucks, except you and the cowboy boot loving types....who all need a w/e in NewYork...
daltry,
Thanks for the link, but the article just states the obvious. Even if some of the numbers are interesting, regarding Tesla sales. However, even if Tesla has made a massive hit in California, how about W.Texas? Those cowboys will still want their pickup trucks, and they ain't suburban commuters. Some will drive 100 miles for a beer.
Business as usual.
By the way, with the news being taken over by Covid-19, what's happened to Greta?
JAdam,
"Oh dear do we have green boxes already, a little early for an idiot to be up. "
Yup, noticed that as well!
Let me know if this post provokes another one, please. We'll get rid of those fools slowly...
Rangers1,
OK, that makes sense. Thanks.
Just what the doctor ordered Winalot, big smiles:}
ADUK - Quite simple. My thoughts are the crews need to change at some point and with restrictions on entry into Norway for non residents closing on 16 March, it makes sense to move rig into UK waters and Moray Firth makes sense given the options to crew change by helicopter or boat.
Rangers1
"She'll need to get out of Norway for lockdown reasons. No doubt the crews will have to change out and wouldn't be surprised to see her in Moray Firth."
Would you care / be able to elaborate on that a bit, please?
Genghis,
"Finally, AWK, please stop waving the threat of the filter button as if I were a naughty child needing discipline."
The fact that I am replying to you here will show that I haven't 'filtered' you.
However, your even so much making such a comment indicates a sort of defensiveness implying that you yourself are aware that you've overstepped a few boundaries and been a 'naughty boy'.
I remain interested in your comments, and especially your recent post, looking at world economics in general.
The only thing I was criticising you about was your recent about-turn in respect to your attitude towards Hurricane as a company. OK, you've (mainly) sold out. Your choice, as it is for everyone. But that's no reason for starting to badmouth the company, especially as you used to be someone who was insistent about 'the fundamentals not having changed'.
The thing being, Ghengis15 having done a big sell doesn't change the fundamentals, either.
I wish you luck.
Diver69,
"Seawell is a well intervention vessel and a twin Bell Saturation vessel capable of both at the same time. That's what makes it unique. The dive system is up and running, but not required by Hurricane"
Given your 'pseudo' I'll take your word for that, and thanks. Rather surprised that the dive function hasn't been ripped out of the boat and replaced with ROV, though. Maybe not cost-effective to do so now: she's getting on a bit. Quite a unique vessel in many ways, nevertheless.
ADUK et all shipwatchers - "Wouldn't want to speculate further for now. Things will (maybe) become clearer when we see where the rig's heading to first." She'll need to get out of Norway for lockdown reasons. No doubt the crews will have to change out and wouldn't be surprised to see her in Moray Firth.

I see both oil and economy related opinions from a lot of platforms, from the FT, Reuters, WP, NYT, Bloomberg, and many others. The articles I post are not unrepresentative. If you come across any more sunny and positive ones I should be happy to read them ; and I assure you my view is moulded by what I see, not what I want to see.
We are at the start, still of this crisis, which is why things are as they are ; and why economic news is near universally dire.
When that turns, I will happily post more cheery opinions, but I fear we have a little way to go yet.

I'm not familiar with Greenwood, and am interested in his comments. However note his caveats re "well managed" and observe who is pulling the major levers at the moment ; and how, unlike in 2008, there is little international co ordination.
This is going to ripple through the banking system in ways I am not qualified to predict, but some are clear. Forward oil hedges, for example transfer the pain into the financial sector, not avoid it altogether. Rent holidays, store closures, and bankruptcies will do the same. We are seeing the first wave at the moment, the financial strain will come later.
On the monetary/fiscal side, govt stimulus is not output, it is socialising the pain ; in this case into govt debt and, essentially, money printing, on a scale never b4 tried on a worldwide basis, not even in 2008. I don't know where that ends up ; as Greenwood says, mb if well managed it can be slowly unwound without damage. And mb not.
Finally, AWK, please stop waving the threat of the filter button as if I were a naughty child needing discipline. It is up to you if you want to read my views, not me.
I view the stats on FE Analytics and any fund which is below its sector average over a 3 year period gets switched unless there are special situations involved. Most of IP funds fell into that category many years ago and still do !
Making, yes, it is very annoying that prices seem to freeze early afternoon. I then switch to HL.
Very often, as it is this morning, when I check in to LSE , the closing prices, high price, low price, are not what they should be! E.g. The closing Mid price should be 13.82p but is being displayed as 13.24p! The prices are out of date ..but the blog isn't! Strange! Anyone else have this issue?

DC,
"The AHTS booked for PBLJ look pretty heavy duty. More than necessary for the tow? Any thoughts?"
Hmm. See what you mean! :-)
LV is just a 'standard' AHTV. But OZ is far more than that. In fact a rather odd choice for a tow. But of course it's pretty much a 'spot hire', so a question of availability and price offered.
Wouldn't want to speculate further for now. Things will (maybe) become clearer when we see where the rig's heading to first.
Littlened,
'Quite right,I disinvested from Invesco (Perpetual) many years ago'
As did I, not because of CV19 as such, but as I imagine because of the Woodward effect, namely many IP funds closely followed those of Woodward's?

Any thoughts?
Jockbob,
"I thought Seawell was dive support vessel."
Sorry, you're way wrong on that, and if anything I've heard from friends is halfway right, all the dive kit has been torn out and replaced with ROV stuff instead. Which makes sense.
Nevertheless, 'Seawell' was never just 'diver support'. A pretty unique thing at its time, and still one of few capable of doing what she does. Which is probably P&A -ing the Halifax well right now. No sweat, because we've known for ages that futher work there will be a new well, not re-entry of the old one.
I thought Seawell was dive support vessel.
Is PBLJ confirmed coming out of Norway to Huuricane? If OGA play ball this Rig will stay put.
