Any ideas why this would head to Lancaster just after an offload??
Possible,

M62 - You are a man on the ball !
This is one of BP's fleet of (6) offload tankers, the AM hasn't used this one for an offload as yet, so I guess like with the previous two or three offload tankers there will be a due diligence test carried out similar to the others, basically a trial to make sure the laughing pin goes into the giggling hole, this will probably be the Tanker chartered for the September Cargo....
The article seems to be from 2006?
It would be nice to think that they're bringing up so much oil, that we need a second tanker offload in a few days.
Ha Ha Ha Ha .......Very funny Squirrel.....
A 'due diligence test' is not routine. Petroatlantic, offload #2, didn't require it.
It's a shuttle tanker, so my first assumption is that she's there to offload oil. Then I'd review what we know as facts about previous offloads.
She's due at 10am (UTC+1).
..may be taking produced water away? HUR cannot reinject produced water, so what are they doing with it? Discharged to sea?
gas according to a post on the HUR facebook page
Due diligence with respect to trial offloads is required for all new offload vessels with relation to FPSO's, this is a class requirement.
Unfortunately your offload assumption is incorrect.
Petroatlantic did have this carried out prior to offloading.
Sadly Old Redoctober' has just torpedoed your theory...
IMO - Produced water will be cleaned up and discharged to sea - from memory below 30ppm is acceptable, but dont quite me on that. Trial run IMO.
Produced water will be chucked overboard. It's all in the ES but too much to quote here.
At AGM rooms was told all that was done pre-FOIL.
As Cebo says any produced water < 30ppm will be discarded, any produced water >30ppm will be kept the cargo tanks and offloaded at some point....
SO with the link to the rising oil price seemingly broken, are we looking at leaking bad news again as happened prior to the Warwick drill results?
No news either way at the moment.
The volume is way, way too low for any news to have leaked.
First news point is drilling fluid losses (or lack of) followed by flare (or lack of) followed closely by HIR RNS.
GLA.
F22, you might have called it right.
The timing/ numbers do support the possibility of a produced water offload from the slop tanks.
If we go with 1,050,000 bbls offload to date. One well at 50% duty of 8% cut would produce approx. 42K bbls of produced water. The capacity of the slops is 48K bbls.
The FSPO has facilities to treat up 20K bbls of water per day, but perhaps it wasn't considered worth running this equipment for <1K bbls per day and a shuttle tanker is a more cost effective solution. Or perhaps there are environmental restrictions. Either way this looks like the worst case scenario and I don't think it's significant.
Ty Biffa, just looking to add to my holdings
I am sure success/failure news will be leaked either way on Lincoln. There are quite a few workers on that rig. Someone will leak something be it in code(not Morse or Java) or whatever.
I don't see how they can effectively stop a leak. You will see it, by the activity - one way or the other - the day or so before confirmation by RNS.
An opportunity ; for the scalpers and traders, but not really effecting the LTHs. Something the FCA is fully aware of, but too undermanned and underfunded to influence matters.
I wouldn't think Dr. T is that bothered either.
Just on this produced water idea. The shuttle tankers have multiple tanks for cargo and their own slop tanks of approx. 15K bbls capacity so I don't understand why a tanker couldn't offload slops on the same visit as a oil offload.
Does anyone have any real world experience on these matters rather that this poster's speculation?
Londoner, F22 if the Aoka Mizu needs a f'ing big bad tanker to offload produced water then something has gone badly wrong IMO which is very unlikely. I dont think it has because the SP looks pretty stable today so isn't sugesting any problem on the AM and she is still producing decent amounts of Oil by all accounts.
That is my opinion only of course and happy to be wrong if someone more knowledgeable (most are) tells me otherwise.
Plus if she started producing tanker loads of formation water then Hurricane would have to let the shareholders know - they said at the CMD that any problems with the EPS and they would RNS it ASP.
All IMO.
..if actually confirmed PW - would not be surprised as HE were not expecting Perched Water by how CMD went! Good to have clean environmental policy (30ppm is not that clean - think can get to less than 10 ppm using 'hay' filters but not worth risk with FFD still to be discusses). Down the road - water disposal well would be best practice.
SP just needs stray y or n in post. If it's lack of + lack of => BoD need to go! current market hates incompetence, SP fried already. There is a job for Subsurface Development Manager going (England) - advertised couple of days ago (12th)! need Fractured experience. Seems strange timing if 'n' gets posted.
Maybe the extra supply boats are shipping out Hay then.
Below 30ppm is more than acceptable, and will have zero impact on the environment or marine life, and the chances are it's quite a bit below the 30ppm.
