To be fair speedy JW said it was done and dusted and the lawyers have it all under control. It was only a few people on twitter that have claimed it was any different?
Glad to see that ADDITIONAL STORAGE FACILITIES are already coverd within the gas storage licence on page 38. That's got to be another nightmare for the local Nimby's. I expect any further caverns would have lower construction overheads as existing outfall infrastructure could be used?
Stokey as always that is top notch research and much apreciate you sharing it i really cant see any problem.
On asimilar note did you pick up on this ?
"Great to be back in Islandmagee and fantastic to see all the pre-enabling works that have been ongoing first-hand. "

"pre-enabling being the operative word "
There's a certain irony here that, regarding regulatory process, we can rely on the protestors to inform us more fully than our own directors! Though that's unfortunate, I'm sure we can all understand why. I can't see that any remaining consents from the regulator will be delayed as that serves their purpose (according to their website - what they do).

oldtramp ref 18.48 post In response to a query I received this response from the utility regulator
Thank you your email below.
We are unsure of the particular ‘document’ you have mentioned. However, we consider that the following may address your query.
We confirm that there has, to date, been only one licence granted authorising the storage of gas in Northern Ireland. That licence was granted in October 2012. It was granted to, and is held by, a company called Islandmagee Energy Limited (previously called Islandmagee Storage Limited). For convenience a link to the storage licence granted is here: Islandmagee Storage Ltd licence for storage of gas in Northern Ireland | Utility Regulator (uregni.gov.uk)
Article 37 of the Gas (NI) Order 1996 allows the Utility Regulator to grant consent for the construction of a gas storage facility. No such consent has been granted to date.
We hope this information is useful, but if we have not addressed your query, please contact us clarifying the identity of the ‘document’ mentioned (providing the document itself or a link to it).
It seems that the protestors may actually have a point. That said I doubt that the license would not be granted. The protestors should be careful because of the wording of regulation 37(10).
I've been busy lol
Page 41 is interesting ;0)
"Storage Facility which the Licensee is authorised to operate under the Licence
1. Those parts of Islandmagee Storage Ltd facilities (including any reservoir, cavern or well
at Larne Lough, offshore platforms, compression, processing plant and the shore
terminal) used from time to time to store natural gas, which term shall include the
injection, retention and withdrawal of natural gas as necessary."
lol yes mate
Has that been posted on here before OT?
Hi spud the UR Has consented already
https://www.uregni.gov.uk/files/uregni/media-files/2012-10-18_Islandmagee_Storage_Limited_gas_storage_licence_-_171012.pdf
Islandmagee has a gas storage licence
https://www.uregni.gov.uk/gas-licences#toc-4
Also almost has a full marine licence
I'm fairly sure the utility regulator wouldn't look at all this and not issue consent to build a storage facility.
Do you mean Kilroot energy park Si ? note the hydrogen facillity
https://kilrootenergypark.co.uk/the-masterplan-vision
The old coal fired power station is due to close and be replaced
https://kilrootenergypark.co.uk/news/speakers-announced-for-annual-conference
Not sure about this but maybe EPUK (the owners ) could well replace it with one similar to this
https://www.ssethermal.com/flexible-generation/construction/keadby-2/
Wonder if they have the same issues when they built the rather larger power station next door?
BTW, as a PS, and not related. Not heard from Tango in a while. Hope all is well.
Appears they could if required Si lol
The use of impact piling or blasting is not anticipated for this licence. However, if a requirement emerges due to
geological anomalies, the Licensee shall notify the Licensing Authority. A noiserisk impact assessment must be
produced and submitted to the Licensing Authority for approval before these construction methods can be
considered to prevent disturbance to sensitive receptors.
This is a highly regulated area .. HARL have proven compliance on every measurement and exceeded what is being asked, with independent review and ongoing monitoring to in place to ensure they remain compliant. The goalposts can’t be moved on a whim, so unless there was a procedural error I can’t see how this can be overturned
Do they do much "blasting" when solution mining?
Only 60 people have donated, don't think that could be classed as the majority of islandmagee against the project
Speedy_Gonzalez ref 13.39 post I did not realise that the Lawyers in Northern Ireland were that cheap unless they are going to represent themselves.
They probably need to add a couple more 0's onto that figure.
Stokey.
I wonder if they can secure the funds in time??

Seems JW has any concerns already in hand and obviously has been prepared for any debate. It’s a solution while the UK is in a gas crisis, not long to find out.

Just seen this https://twitter.com/Leesadee_Imagee/status/1449288088837099520 seems like they are determined to mount a legal challenge.
