Struggling to see why anyone would want to short a company with the cash flow of Future group...unless of course they don't understand the business.
It looks like this was a glitch on the lse web site which has now been changed. The shorts appear to be still open.
Lesson learned: don't believe everything you see on the internet.
Where are you getting your information from?
The FCA data will be updated by tomorrow, I would think.
According to todays FCA disclosure both short positions are still open!?
Cheers for this info - very helpful. Yup...Qube must have been absolutely hammered here. Very odd to short a company doing decent double FCF yields and possessing ownership of GoCo (at least a multiple of 20x). 2nd biggest position since this hit the early 7s and ever more bullish. Lots of really exciting news in background I thought I'd point out to you...A combination of very positive indicators for Future:
Moneysupermarket Q3
Amazon Q3
Ascential digital commerce business Q3
EA games
Other players across the gaming space….
Broader news on the gaming space including the news around. Grand Theft auto Vi
None of them stand alone massive, but in combination all bode reasonably well for a much healthier backdrop for games and consumer tech – hopefully shows through when they update early December!
We are also potentially selling the very high margin B2B units...if we get that news and its a decent multiple...this thing really will take off.
Apparently all shorts have now closed, although this is not recorded on today's UK government report. Prompted ahead of the UK government Autumn statement, perhaps,
I believe that AHL Partners made a good profit on their dealings, but I think that Qube might have been caught "with their shorts up" so to speak. Navigating muddy waters is always a risk.
In the RNS of Aug 3rd 2023 they said: “The Company intends to cancel the Ordinary Shares it purchases through the Share Buyback Programme“
The subsequent RNS’s state reduced number of shares to be used for purposes of determining shareholding which suggests they are being cancelled. Additionally Companies House filings state they are being cancelled.
Haven't checked small print but are the shares being bought back being cancelled? Usually the case but not always.

Cancel that last post, I got the decimal point in the wrong place again! It's a bit more complicated than I suggested.
I think that it's just a restatement of position due to the reduction of the number of shares in issue following the share buybacks. They have a higher percentage stake now. So do I come to that!
More TR-1 investment.....
!!(゜ロ゜ノ)ノ
Careful guys, don't be seen to be ramping the share or you might get flamed by the enthusiasm police :)
Lol Apeirogon, nuff said.
Qube is run by a bunch of French mathematicians. I used to work with a few of them.
If you ever want to meet someone who is convinced they are right all the time : meet a French mathematician.
Just to follow up, "Qube Research & Technologies Limited" opened a new short position on the 25th October at 0.51%.
Maybe they are expecting a fall back in price on no news. Not seeing it at the moment.
A couple of large trades went through this morning at just after 9am GMT. Marked here as purchases but could be sales? Might see a movement of share price following this. If it is someone topping up on the dip or someone getting favourable terms, then I would expect a big rise tomorrow. As I mentioned before, I have now seen a 20% rise in a day on this share. Now seen it twice. Could go either direction depending on the nature of these trades, perhaps? Wish I had a magic ball.
Very well spotted - hadn't realised they had closed out.
happy days here...unbelievable they have made it through this year with numbers in line with expectations. shows the strength of GoCo...which by the way is worth a multiple more in line with 20x (like moneysupermarket). Ridiculously undervalued here and no one on here seems to care
Is that a possible £4m loss, or have I got the decimal point in the wrong place again?
It looks like Systematica have closed their short position.
I'm not surprised of the dip today a bit of profit taking was inevitable. Not for me though, a long term hold and still way under so no profit for me yet :-(
It puzzles me why people sell this share. Fast growth at a low PE, that makes the shares at 890p look a bargain to me, looks like a Buy to me.
RIA, are you still locked in KRPZ...i dont think cross ramping here is going to help mate.
So far for FUTR and KRPZ....good news out for both
