ok rich - lets do this another way...
1) look at what happened when we sold aphira for 500% profit..... thats the big move.
2) we were always 30% above nav, we are not anymore, and to get back there need over a 50% increase
3) No-one, myself included thought for a minute we would go below 10p - we did
4) i joked about seeing you all at 8.6, 3-4 months ago... look where we were 3 weeks ago (ish)
5) we have not rose 60%, we went from 6.75 ish to 9. something.... and now back down
Now... that all seems doom and gloom from me, probably about to be called a deramper again, but, im just seeing things for what they are, investors in the wider community are not looking at ffwd yet, we are still getting sellers and we were crippled recently be some big sellers seriously off loading. one even came on here and told us!
this is my biggest holding as ive said before, happy with that and will wait for the spike, but... im a realist. unless something comes out of the blue and hits us alll between the eyes, like a leap sale, then.... even with results due....
we are slidiing..... i see us anywhere between 6.45 and 9s. until boom time.
Again, I don't understand all this "market has dictated what they want and so until thsat happens.... we drift.... down".
Still seems very presumptuous to me. Also sounds like the sort of thing people would have been saying recently before it rose over 60% in the past month without warning or news. Some pullback was always likely......but selling hoping for a pullback is always a gamble if big news lands from any of the major investments and would leave you missing most of the rewards.
Rich....
"Who cares! This will drift down for a while again probably because investor sentiment.... Is crap. "
im sticking by this. we can see whos right/wrong in 2 weeks. market has dictated what they want and so until thsat happens.... we drift.... down
In the interests of fairness ;) you've been known to be a bit presumptuous with regards the trading and sentiment chilston, and even just yesterday said:
"Who cares! This will drift down for a while again probably because investor sentiment.... Is crap. "
Is the sentiment really cr*p? I think most of us are actually pretty optimistic of how this'll go.
Will it really drift down? I think if that was a widely held view then you'd see lots more selling (rather than three trades for the entire day so far and none of them for even a couple of grand). Frankly it's anyones guess as to how things will go next. You could see another spate of buying out of the blue. You might see news sparking some buying. Etc.
Trading is often touted as a magic bullet on AIM but I'd argue many more experienced investors would say a lot of inexperienced investors are guilty of over-trading and don't spend enough time picking a stock and then holding it through the short term up and downs. Leading them to them missing out on big rises when they come. Of course if you always pick garbage that wont help ;)
And to add to Rich's comment. I don't think any of us read the whole lot odonnell. We get the message after the first paragraph tbh!
We could probably also do without a ten thousand word essay, every time there's a few small sells, about buying back when it falls (rather than if), or about looking for low SP's or good value, everyone does that. That's why people tell you to be patient. As it stands it simply sounds like you misjudged a buy in, and therefore think that every time the SP dips a bit, you should sell because you're always going to be able to buy back cheaper. It's never that simple and that's a good way to double your mistake and raise your chances of being the sort of person who buys high and sells low.
If you want useful information to be posted here then I suggest not filling the entire board with these giant monologues about nothing. We're all quite aware you buy ITs. You've said it about 1000 times now and don't need to keep saying it daily.
O'Donnell's.... My intent is not too offend you. I apologise if I have to your wife.
But.... When I said get a grip.... I mean it.
You are looking at the sp at a decimal point level. Analysing each buy or sell. Completely forgetting the bigger picture. You said yourself that you are looking at £s and so worrying about the SP dropping .1p is silly.
Investor sentiment is not with ffwd ATM. But that will all change. Sentiment can change in one minute on aim.
So I stick by what I said. But meant no offence.
ODONNELLS - with the best wish in the world, if you come to these online forums, you must expect no quarter, and no regard for gender, age or any other metric, and plea as you might for respect and civility, I'm afraid you will find it in short supply; that is the nature of these anonymous, online chatrooms, and while many have tried to find solutions to the problem, no-one has found a way to replicate face-to-face conversations, and all the courtesies they include. You can certainly try, and I wish you luck, but my advice is, don't be upset if you are handled roughly - it is the nature of the beast.
Re your remarks you made to my wife on her post last night.
It is not very nice to tell an 77 year old lady who is very disabled and struggles to even write on a lap top "to get a grip" Plus her eyesight is very very poor at the moment owing to extreme cataracts, which have put her on the priority list at hospital to have them done.
She actually told you FACTUAL events about the quotes we had, not the "guess" posts we get over and over again from a number of you. Do you walk down the street looking for vulnerable old ladies in wheel chairs who do or say something you do not like and tell them to get a "grip." She has probably forgotten more than you ever knew.
We have been telling you for months to be patient, so why tell us?
WE HAVE ALWAYS SAID WE ARE BIG BELIEVERS IN FFWD and will continue to be so long as everything appears to be OK. We look at it as investing a small amount in each of the companies that FFWD invest in. rather than the very large amount we have invested in FFWD. This thinking applies to all the I.T.s. we invest in.
We have always acknowledged the work and time some of you put in to get information and thanked you for it.
We did make the error of adding at too high a price, something the wife was against, instead of selling and buying back later. initially the posts on here that there was going to be good news "in a couple of weeks" had us adding, this was a mistake on our part, because at a time we were both quite poorly and could not be bothered to try and check. Then the fact the results would soon be out stopped us selling.
Both these decisions were OURS.
As we have said we are here to increase our portfolios value but the poor performance of FFWD has held us back to to a very small increase in its value over 12 months..
To repeat ourselves again we do look for low SP of stocks, sectors, Etc. that are out of favour, and we feel that they are undervalued.
There are certain ITs. we do have for the long term, while they are performing satisfactorily, that is our way of investing, rather than have all our chickens in one basket. We all have our own methods. Should things drastically change in the world we do temporarily revise our method of investing. Oh and we do NOT like cryptocuriences because that have nothing to back them up in our opinion.
We have wondered how many good people people have been chased off the FFWD post site because of insults flying about. There have been page after page of insults on here with no real information being posted.
We have hardly put anything on here as others have beaten us to it.
SO PLEASE CONTINUE PUTTING USEFUL INFORMATION ON HERE AND STOP BEING RUDE TO EACH OTHER AS IT DOES NOTHING EXCEPT MAKE YOU LOOK LIKE A BULLY or SOME ONE WHO LOVES THEIR OWN IMPORTANCE.
Most of you are probably decent people who just let go at anonymous people on here for one reason or another.
Think before you post. Is this post going to be of value to my fell
On one hand O'Donnell you're saying that you are staying for £s. On the other you are cribbling about 8 point something???
Get a grip
Oh who cares?! 8.6, 8.2, 8 point something?!!!
Who cares! This will drift down for a while again probably because investor sentiment.... Is crap.
But who cares.... Eventually we will have our day. Ignore the sp. Average down eventually if you can...
And be patient. Or day trade instead!
We were quoted 8.485 last thing to buy 50000 down from this mornings quote for 50000 of 8.61. The two unknown trades looked like buys to us. It has certainly gone quiet with just the one reasonable sale of 60 K.
Not sure why you think we think every think is a sell with so few sales? We still feel there are a lot of potential buyers in the wings just like us. Excluding the results they may all be just itching to buy but waiting to see how low it goes. Once 3 or 4 come in with decent purchases we may see the others start to buy. We have fixed a price in our mind at which we will start to purchase regardless, adding in to our ISA's
Our last post was just an of the cuff remark, as are most of ours. Looked on here more lately as the Doctors said i could not drive until lovely Thursday this week following the operation . With the wife waiting to go in for her minor Op. and me driving again we shall return to looking at the good posts once or twice a week, rather than a few times each day. As we have said in the past, never take us too seriously, most are just observations which may or may not be correct. Our only concern is that the results are not up to the expectations of many of you. If they are poor but the NAV is still above the SP there may only be a small drop. On the other hand a NAV of 15p would not surprise us which may get the SP to settle at around 12 p after initially rising higher. It takes a lot to surprise us after nearly 50 years of investing seriously.
Again we repeat that we are grateful for the work some of you do in scouring the internet for even the smallest snippet of information. You all must spend many hours collating your information. US, as previously stated, we are just small investors who like to purchase out of favour funds, stocks and sectors.
Nice to see most of you are not having a go at each other so much, it does not do any good whatsoever and has people concentrating on answering any knocks they receive instead of sorting good information to post on here for OUR benifit!!!!!!!!
The offer was at 8.7 at the open and 8.8 at the close.......
The bid remained at 8.2p all day.
You seem to always be confused and think everything is a sell ODONNELL (or you're playing dumb :p).
All of the trades at 8.49p or above will almost certainly have been buys and the ones under 8.34p sells.
In reality there was hardly any trading today. A grand total of a piddly 174,461 shares which is less than £15k in total for the entire day.
Barring the first sell in the morning the rest of the trading in total was about £5k of buys and £5k of sells.
Lord Snooty has more than that in loose change down the back of his chaise-longue ;)
There probably a lot of potential buyers out there, just waiting to pounce at 6.99 p when it is offered. If they all keep their nerve it may get down to that price, if sellers keep on unloading. Every time we look, the offer price has moved down.
But and it is a big But, results may just spoil their ambitions.
