Hmmmm........not sure if this is gonna get a further hit on Monday........Whilst held up for while post news can't help thinking gonna be a slow downwards to results......... .alot of initial panic maybe ????
Getting 'negative' news out of the way so we can concentrate on underlying growth when results announced. It's a one-off payment much higher than anticipated but should mean that growth in profits (if not the share price) will continue.
This relates to the reshaping of the film business which the CEO said would "drive profitability" and I don't understand why the sp should drop 5 or 6 points. Does anyone have any views on this? Final results are due 23 May.
What are peoples analysis of today's RNS?
CCT did not move down due to peppa pig weakness. IN fact quite the opposite it stated : "Core group of products continues to have brand strength in depth - Top 3 brands are Peppa Pig, Little Live Pets and Teletubbies" and was in fact expanding the range.. In fact cct had said previously it would be H" loaded so I was not surprised by the drop. All the signs re peppa pig as far as eto are concerned remain very encouraging as can be gleaned from its recent trading statement and current box office revenues for the film. ETO does not sell the products but the licences. Peppa pig as well as pj masks and others are still expanding further into major markets and can still go much further.
Weak sterling took a toll on the half year results for The Character Group (CCT), where revenue fell by 5.7 per cent to £61.5m and pre-tax profits were down by a quarter to £6.5m. The owner of Pepper Pig and Scooby Doo makes most of its purchases in US dollars but has begun to look for ways to make the group more efficient to mitigate this risk in the future. Shares were down 5 per cent in early trading, but recovered by close. Knock-on effect here? That said, lots in the pipeline for ETO not shown in current price.
52 new episodes of the "Pink Phenomenon" should do wonders; long may it continue. Every time I have traded this share it has never failed to deliver.
Should start ticking up now..............so much press on it. .......surely will bring buyers in......reckon a good lift upto results from here.
I'm hoping the momentum upwards starts to build now. I'm not at my average yet so it will have to move quite a bit for me.
Bounced off the 200 day MA and moving up quite quickly now which is positive. Has been range bound since takeover talk. Hopefully will break out and up...or it won't, no crystal ball. Happy to hold though, as long it stays above 200 MA. GLA
All seems very odd to me the drop...... That news on itv and no further interest was a few weeks back and the sp was still holding after the event be it it a dip that came straight back up on the "No further interest pursuing eto"comment from itv...
This has come from ETO H/q: We have made no RNS announcements recently, so I am not able to explain the recent moves in the stock price. However, it is worth remembering that the stock was driven up to the 250p level following press speculation about a possible takeover of the company. To date, this has proven not to be the case so it is logical that the premium in the stock price related to a bid approach should unwind over time. Kind regards,
I was going to ask the same question. There doesn't seem to be any obvious answer but I suspect it could be due to a lack of bid prospects. Since the ITV bid some months ago, no other possible bidder has been identified. I am thinking of emailing the company to ask if they know why the sp is dropping.

Anyone have any idea why this is dropping?
Good post speakssense. Being able to value a company correctly is one of the main criteria for sound investments. Here we have a base line value of 236p. The sp is again being walked down to this level and possibly lower. This would be a no brainier BUY at lower levels and bearing in mind this is likely to be taken over at some time in the future. Are the mms trying to fill a larger order at a lower level. Can't understand why there would be sellers below 236p but perhaps they use stop losses, which will undoubtedly be triggered at some stage. Putting in some buy orders below today's level and if lucky they may be filled.
..this morning, continuing the upward trend. Couldn't resist top slicing at 2.50 on the lack of any real news but will be back in on any dips !
Ie next update
Sold under 240 today........typical !!!!!!!law of sod!!!! Will.see what happens 2moz..........best of luck to those holding till results.......Some late big sells.....but will it keep up over 240 is the big question I guess to results......
and broke out of the 230s range. Two large trades around 12pm kicked it all off through to close IMO. If it keeps ticking up from today then hopefully a good reason for the rise, but far too early to tell. Hope it doesn't fall back, just past average.
Picking up nicely. I'm guessing the film business is going well this year. At this rate I'll soon be at my average...
Plenty going on here. Let's remember that the company turned down 236p from ITV because they felt it undervalued the company. So the company knows it is worth more than 236p. So at 238p downside from here is very unlikely. Content these days is king. ETO have huge amounts of content. It is still a big takeover target and there are plenty of potential buyers waiting in the wings. BUY.
Anyone care to share thoughts or news on this one, still holding onto a sizeable chunk here in anticipation of another bid but all gone very quiet!
Probably due to people selling shares.
