Think I'm going to stick with this one for the long term also, my current cost per share is 16.96 because I started buying in July, most likely reinvest the dividends back in. The long term holders of this trust may disapprove of the strongarm Sherborne takeover and tax liable big dividends (if not held in an Isa) but personally the activist takeover is what attracted me to Electra and also the feeling that private equity trusts were a bit out of fashion and going cheap. Electra minus the private equity.....we shall see, good luck all.
So just bought in for the long term, 13% annualised return PA for 10 years isn't bad!!
Current Nav 20.28. 9.14 Dividend agreed for 1/12/17 X Date will be 1/11/17. ( own shares by 1/11 you will be entitled to the Dividend ) After X Date the NAV will be 11.14 or thereabouts. The name will change with removal of the "private equity" presume just ELECTRA will remain. What a ride this share has been had already with over 40 payed out in Dividends. A leaner beast with much reduced overheads will aim to thrive further. Best luck All..
now here s a good company to look at its coming up nice and slow a bit every day you dont really notice the rise but up it goes
its coming up steady we should be having some news from these soon im sure there should be a results rns isnt it end of year soon plus they should be letting us know what they have bought into
Come on Sherborne pull your finger out, whenever you think you've bought in low it always goes lower. I guess things are still turbulent from the big shake up, just have to wait it out.
Bramson putting 350K in and the seemingly low buy price are about all I've got to go on. Who knows what their plans are ? Hopefully they'll announce some new investments rather than shut it down. Bought in, fingers crossed.
You buy as low as possible and it keep going down day after day... its like flushing money down the toilet.
sorry....that was new not knew of course....
So what to make of this then? I'm knew to the company....reading different opinions, mostly pessimistic.....yet directors shelling out a fair amount of brass between them. Very tempted to go with the Directors and tuck a few away.
Unstable politics, sterling going down since last year, brexit mambo jambo and the lack of trade deals with other than Saudi Arabia, are all factors that make the share prices to fall and hardly recover. The UK is no longer a friendly environment for investing.
Ex dividend date
Why the drop?
Going forward, after parting from Epiris, what chance does the internal investment team have of matching the success enjoyed by Epiris. Its been pretty phenomenal of late and also what investments do Electra actually have left? I'm keen to invest, but looking at their list of current investments on their website, it seems that most of those are now sold??? Any advice from other posters on this thread would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks Mostyn
I think you'll find disc is actually around 6% NAV of £55.44 is prior to payment of spec div of £26.12 in April
can not under stand buy at above 5000
They got cash from some assets they sold recently and they don't intend to invest the cash anytime soon so returned the value back to the shareholders. That's what I think. Please do your own research.
Why such a big div? Is it a good time to buy in?
Thought it all sounded a bit too good to be true - thanks :-)
Generally if you open a short term short and the stock pays a divi your trading account will be debited the divi amount for the stock you borrowed....it costs you........ ATB....
Dividend of £26.21 paid if you held yesterday - get nothing today
Hi, new to trading. Can anyone explain to me why its dropped 50 odd percent? thanks
So if you'd opened a short at yesterday's price then today you'd be quids in...... surely too easy....?!? :P
Thanks for clearing this up. Best of luck.
Hi Bhai Sahab. This special dividend is just as a normal one in the UK obviously the share price has now reduced by the Dividend amount, I hope you will be handsomely rewarded as the share price IMHO will tick up over a few months This is a cash Tree and that is why the special Dividend you will receive was able to be generated. Best luck Sir and good health..
