Morning oldbadger. I feel for the guys on xel and gkp too. It's frightening to see what can happen to your money. I only dealt in aim stocks until recently but seeing how quickly any rises disappear, I've changed to bigger companies. Basically I try to find companies that have had falls that seem to be way overdone. Time will tell if it pays off but it's certainly not as scary as aim. I'm looking to put £2k more in this week if it dips and I have another £3k I may put into GMAA which is a similar story to here. I'll read up more on that one while in work later. If this hits soletraders target of 4.50, I'll be joining you in retirement ! Have a wonderful day my friend. Onwards and upwards tomorrow (hopefully). Ste
My story remarkably similar to your own, I only got back into stocks and shares 4 months ago, been early retired now a couple years n' just got fed up with getting no interest from the banks.Freed up 20k from pension and here I am. Don't do the speculative stuff anymore, been down the gkp, xel, etc, etc route sold out years ago, feel bad for the guys over on those boards there money is gone in the wind. I would love to have topped up on last week's drop but my last £1500 was waiting for iqe to hit 28p. Only got as low as 30p so badger not in, low and behold shot up to 36p. on Fri. 20% in a week that would have been nice, wasn't to be! Looking for a dip into 214/215 range next week to get the last of the pot in here, if it doesn't happen I'll be happy enough I'm already in with a reasonable amount. D.
I also invested in eurotunnel and northern rock. After that I changed my name to Warren StuffIt and didn't go near the market for years until I moved my pension into a sipp. Fingers crossed, I've done ok this past 11 months by not being to greedy. That's my investment history for what is worth :)
Evening oldbadger I'm not copying your investment plan but erm, I'm going to do the same. I sold some Enquest to free up some cash for here. That dip to 2.13 and subsequent rise gives me some confidence that that was the bottom. The million dollar question is when to top up if it does dip. I'm still kicking myself for not topping up at 2.13. I had my finger on the button but chickened out thinking it may go to 2.00. As you can tell, I'm not very good at this yet, I've only been investing for 11 months apart from a brief attempt many years ago. Marconi, Pacific media, Freeserve and a few others that turned into a mini disaster. I still remember knutsford which I didn't buy into - watching and hoping I'd find the next one at the time. I never did haha
Thank you Soleman I knew you were the man for Steello's query. I'm expecting at least one maybe two dips in the price leading up to ex divi date. I've freed up a wee bit of cash to take advantage if that happens. The £2.40p. Paid by ii's a few weeks ago I think will be the floor in the short term after divi caffuffell is out the way, it's certainly not true value, what is !!! D.
Morning chaps. I knew somebody would help. I love this board. Quality not quantity. Thanks soleman1 and oldbadger, I'm looking forward to next week. If it dips again, I'll put another chunk in. That divis not to far away and I'm expecting people to start jumping in next week to take advantage of it. All the best everyone. Ste
When i say early in the day i mean yesterday!
Often the system attempts to put large trades through as they fit into the spread but there arent enough shares at the quoted price for a buy or the price not consistent with the bid for a sell so it bounces back. Usually they appear as threes one after another in the list as the next attempt always seems to match the order successfully. Judging by the price its likely a buy order from early in the day. ATB, badger feel free to hibernate, ill wake you up when we reach 450p 😜
Think Soleman's the best bet to answer your query about cancelled trades beyond my remit sir. D.
Good evening Steello I'm chuffed that you've finished the week with a "washed face" onwards and upwards for the dfs boys. The badger has done slightly better I've turned a five ton loss into a gain of threepence halfpenny. If I wasn't retired already it would be on the cards. D.
With more knowledge than me explain those last 2 trades please ? Is it just 1 cancelled trade, Thanks guys. Ste
'and somewhere in the darkness The gambler he broke even'
Haha you jinxed it oldbadger ! You'll have to put your hand in your pocket and but another million.
Morning guys. Hate to say it. "BUT SOFA SO GOOD" D.
Evening fellow sofas. A much more encouraging day today. I've been working late so missed the exciting bit. Nice to see you in profit and looking back through the prices, me and oldbadger broke even - well for about half an hour. Good luck and here's for breaking even at close tomorrow. Good night all. Ste
If you were to determine true action by the buy/sell ratio indicated it would be the opposite of whats stated most of the time. For example if a million shares were bought @220p when the sp range was 219-220p it would move the price up possibly to 220-221p and marked against this change it appears to be a sell according to lse. I wish buy/sells were recorded accurately because it gives a lot of false information to people. According to price discovery theory buys and sells should be equal over a reasonably short period of time with the price change as a result of demand. ATB
Your post the other day stating buy/sell ratios are not necessarily conclusive in determining a share price was certainly affirmed here today. Supposed 10 sells for each buy today gives us an increased share price of 3%. I'll take it. D.
Ok ob /steello /sm what a great day for dfs like steello i am kicking myself for not topping up at 213p anyway best not be greedy just gone into profit lets not forget this share was 350p this time last year cant see much downside oldbadger think biff will be good long term hold but like yourself would like to know how much cash in bank after payout take care ALB
Hello badger. The stock has a little fizz in it today, looks like a turnaround but i dont want to jinx it at the first juncture. I am confident, if you can find another stock more profitable and investor centric when compared to valuation im interested to hear about it. Genl needs a few things to fall into place namely oil up and historic recievables start to get paid. Its higher on the risk spectrum but offers a proportionately higher return potential i wouldnt be surprised if it trades in the £2-5 range over coming years. The guys over there are friendly just very frustrated atm so give them the benefit. ATB
Absolutely love your confidence Soleman, there's one or two of us on here hoping your target is achieved. Soleman thought you told me genel was a friendly board, not been that friendly there this week !!!!! Don't post there that often don't know that much about the company. If your about Smokey semi interesting day on Biffa I've posted there be interested in your opinion. D.
Looks like we're away here. 2.17 to buy with HL now. I'm convinced there was a massive order being filled over the last couple of days. If they let her go now, I'll be keeping another close eye on those late reported trades.
Hi oldbadger. Major investor holdings - 156.6 million of total shares in company of 211 million? That's impressive. Thanks for the information. Things looking a bit better this morning. I was going to add more at 2.13 but chickened out. I wish I'd bought them now. Ste
Hi Steel There doesn't appear to be any significant director buys since dfs came to market. Which was only in march 2015. Current meaningful director holdings are. Richard Baker ( chair) 4.8mill. Ian Filby ( ceo ) 1.38mill. Major investor holdings 156.6mill. Total shares in company 211mill. D.
the reviews on trustpilot about dfs, decided not to invest here . worth checking if your a holder gla
People are going to be jumping in here for the dividend. This share is an absolute steal at the moment. Ste
